Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for Thadikara Samy Koil Street, Alandur

Businesses in Alandur looking for GST Notice Reply want two things: work done correctly and someone answerable when questions come. Alandur, at the Kathipara junction of GST Road and Inner Ring Road with a metro interchange, is a base for transporters, warehouses and traders serving the airport belt. Consignors must issue e-way bills for goods movements above Rs.50,000, and businesses hiring lorries routinely miss reverse charge liability on GTA freight until an audit or ASMT-10 notice surfaces it. We serve this belt — including Guindy and St. Thomas Mount — with fixed fees quoted upfront, a written document checklist, and filings completed ahead of statutory due dates. Every acknowledgement is shared the day it is generated, and our support continues if the department raises any query on work we have filed.

GST jurisdiction for Alandur (PIN 600016): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai South Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Alandur before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for Logistics and Transport Operators in Alandur
A goods transport agency issuing consignment notes normally operates under reverse charge, where the registered customer pays 5 percent and the transporter files returns with little cash outflow, but claiming input credit on trucks and tyres requires opting for forward charge by filing Annexure V before the financial year begins, a choice that then binds the whole year. Giving vehicles on hire to another GTA is exempt altogether. Transporters around Alandur also carry e-way bill duties: updating Part B on vehicle changes and extending validity within the permitted window when trips overrun. A specialist evaluates the reverse-charge-versus-forward-charge economics and keeps the fleet paperwork inspection-ready.
Yes, small businesses in Alandur can use professional GST Notice Reply affordably — fees start at Rs.2,999, which is usually far less than one period of late fees and lost input tax credit.
Why Us

Why Thadikara Samy Koil Street, Alandur Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

ITC Maximisation Within the Law

We match your purchase register against GSTR-2B every period, follow up on invoices your suppliers have not uploaded, and ensure every rupee of eligible input tax credit is claimed. Clients routinely recover credit they were silently losing under self-filing.

Reverse Charge Tracked, Not Forgotten

Freight paid to transporters, advocate fees, imported services and other notified supplies attract GST under reverse charge, with self-invoicing where the supplier is unregistered. We maintain a running RCM check every period, because this is the liability self-filers most consistently miss.

Same-Day Response, Every Working Day

Send your query on call or WhatsApp and you hear back the same working day, usually within a few hours. When a due date is close or a notice has landed, waiting two days for a reply is simply not acceptable, and we know it.

We Work with Your Existing Software

Tally, Zoho Books, Busy, marketplace reports, plain Excel or even a handwritten bill book — we take your data in whatever form your Alandur business already maintains it. You are never forced to buy new software or retrain staff just to become our client.

Familiar with Chennai Jurisdictions and Officers' Expectations

We work with Chennai GST ranges and circles every week, including the jurisdiction covering Alandur. We know how local proper officers examine registrations, what supporting documents they routinely call for, and how to present a file so it moves without repeated queries.

Ledger Housekeeping on the Portal

Your cash ledger, credit ledger and liability register are reviewed regularly, not just at filing time. Excess balances are flagged for use or refund, and where a genuine slip surfaces, a voluntary payment through DRC-03 settles it before it can mature into a notice.

How It Works

Our Notice Reply Process

Notice study

We read the notice line by line, identify the section invoked, the periods covered, the exact information sought and the deadline for response.

Data reconciliation

The figures alleged in the notice are reconciled against your filed returns, GSTR-2B and books, so the reply is grounded in verifiable numbers rather than assertions.

Reply drafting

We draft a professional, point-wise reply addressing every allegation, attaching reconciliations, invoices and legal support, and share the draft with you for approval.

Filing and payment

The approved reply is filed on the portal within the deadline. Where a small genuine liability exists, we advise payment through DRC-03 to limit interest and penalty.

Closure tracking

We monitor the portal for the officer's response, attend to any further queries or hearing dates, and pursue the matter until a closure or order is received.

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

Marketplace Accounts That Stay Live

E-commerce platforms continuously validate seller GSTINs and filing status. A consistently compliant registration keeps your listings active and settlements flowing, with no sudden suspension of your online sales channel.

Bank and Tender Readiness

Loan applications and government tenders routinely demand GST returns and registration documents. With everything filed and archived properly, you can produce a complete compliance file within hours instead of days.

Notices Answered Within the Time Limit

Statutory windows such as thirty days for an ASMT-11 reply are tracked from the day a notice arrives, so responses go in on time, complete, and with your best case properly presented.

A Clean GSTIN That Stays Active

Continuous filing protects you from the suspension and cancellation proceedings that hit chronic non-filers, so your registration, e-way bill access and ability to issue tax invoices are never suddenly cut off.

Clarity on What You Actually Owe

Each period you receive a simple computation showing output tax, credit utilised and net cash payable, so GST becomes a number you understand and question rather than a figure you accept blindly.

Export Benefits Fully Utilised

With the LUT filed at the start of each financial year and refund claims tracked to credit, exporters supply without blocking funds in IGST and recover accumulated credit on schedule.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Goods in transitE-way bills generated correctly and matched to invoices, so consignments pass roadside inspections without detention or penalty.A defective or missing e-way bill can mean detention at a checkpoint, with penalties that dwarf the tax on the consignment.
Late fees and interestFilings go in ahead of statutory dates, so the Rs.50-per-day late fee and 18 percent interest never arise.Late fees accumulate silently every delayed day, and interest on unpaid tax runs at 18 percent per annum.
Portal credentials and dataLogins handled by a small engaged team under strict confidentiality, with credentials stored securely and never passed onward.Passwords circulating on chats with freelancers and part-timers, and no accountability for who has accessed your business data.
Record keepingEvery return, challan, acknowledgement and working paper archived in an organised folder, retrievable in minutes years later.Documents scattered across email, downloads and old phones; assembling records for a bank or an audit takes days.
Supplier defaultsSuppliers who stop uploading invoices are identified within the period and pursued before their default becomes your blocked credit.Missing supplier invoices surface only when credit is denied, by which time recovering the amount from the vendor is difficult.
Time costRoughly an hour a month to send data and approve drafts; the portal work, reconciliation and follow-up are ours.Hours every month lost to portal errors, JSON files, OTP failures and reworking figures — usually on the due date itself.

Case Law & Notifications

What the Department and the Courts Have Said — relevant to Alandur businesses

We track every notification, circular and judgment that changes a filing position, so your returns and replies reflect the current law.

Notification

Textile rate rise deferred at the last minute; footwear increase went ahead

Notification No. 21/2021-Central Tax (Rate), dated 31 December 2021 · 2021-12-31

On 31 December 2021, the same day as the 46th GST Council meeting convened at the instance of Tamil Nadu and other States, the Government superseded the November notification. The proposed increase on textiles was dropped, so fabrics, yarn, garments and made-ups continued at five per cent, but the footwear change survived and all footwear became taxable at twelve per cent from 1 January 2022 irrespective of price. The value threshold that had earlier kept cheap footwear at five per cent disappeared.

Why this matters: From January 2022 to September 2025 every pair of footwear attracted twelve per cent regardless of price, and rate mistakes in that window are a common scrutiny point.

Circular

Credit allowed on demonstration vehicles held by authorised dealers

Circular No. 231/25/2024-GST · 2024-09-10

CBIC clarified that demo vehicles used by an authorised motor vehicle dealer to provide test drives and demonstrate features are used for making a further supply of such motor vehicles, so the blocking provision in Section 17(5)(a) does not apply and input tax credit is available. Credit is not available where the vehicle is used for staff transportation or other internal purposes, and dealers capitalising demo vehicles must not claim depreciation on the tax component.

What to do about it: Vehicle dealerships should claim input tax credit on demo cars used for test drives and reverse it only where the vehicle is diverted to internal use.

Portal Advisory

GST Appellate Tribunal e-filing portal opens for second appeals

GSTAT E-Filing Portal advisories, portal operational from 24 September 2025 · 2025-09-24

The GST Appellate Tribunal's e-filing portal at efiling.gstat.gov.in became operational on 24 September 2025, finally giving taxpayers a forum for second appeals against orders of appellate and revisional authorities. Filing of appeals is mandatorily electronic, and advisories prescribe a phased, staggered schedule so that the backlog does not congest the system, with backlog appeals against pre-existing orders permitted to be filed up to 30 June 2026.

What to do about it: List every unfavourable appellate order your business holds and calendar the GSTAT filing windows now, since the backlog window closes on 30 June 2026 and missed tribunal deadlines forfeit the appeal remedy.

Already Holding the Notice? Read It in About a Minute

Upload the PDF to our free GST Notice Analyser. It identifies which of 34 notice types you have, pulls out the DIN, GSTIN and tax period, reads the reply date printed on the notice and tells you plainly whether that date has already passed — along with the documents and reconciliations you will need. No payment, no account. If the notice does not state a date we can read, it says so rather than guessing one for you.

The analyser reports what your notice says and the statutory position for that form. It is not a substitute for a consultant reading your actual records, and a reply should be reviewed before you file it.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

How long does GST notice reply take in Alandur?
Draft reply in 3-5 working days. That assumes your documents are complete and there is no departmental query. We start the same day we receive your papers and tell you the realistic completion date upfront rather than an optimistic one. Where the GST portal or the officer causes delay — clarifications, physical verification or system issues — we track it daily and keep you informed on WhatsApp.
Do you provide gst notice reply for small businesses and proprietorships in Alandur?
Yes. A large share of our clients in Alandur are proprietors, small traders, shop owners, freelancers and family businesses rather than large companies. The fee of Rs.2,999 and the process are the same regardless of size, and we explain the compliance position in plain language — in Tamil or English — so you understand what is being filed on your behalf and why.
What imprisonment terms does GST law prescribe, and which offences are non-bailable?
Section 132 links punishment to the amount involved: imprisonment up to five years with fine where the tax evaded or credit misused exceeds Rs.5 crore, up to three years where it exceeds Rs.2 crore, and up to one year for the Rs.1 crore to Rs.2 crore band, which after the Finance Act 2023 changes survives only for the offence of issuing invoices without supply. A repeat conviction can attract up to five years regardless of amount. Offences involving supply without invoice, invoices without supply, credit from such invoices, and collected-but-not-deposited tax are cognizable and non-bailable when the amount exceeds Rs.5 crore; everything else is non-cognizable and bailable. Courts take cognizance only with the Commissioner's previous sanction.
I applied for GST registration in Alandur and received a REG-03 notice. What does it mean?
Form REG-03 is a notice seeking clarification on your GST registration application. The officer may question your proof of principal place of business, promoter identity documents or the nature of business declared. You must reply in Form REG-04 within seven working days of the notice, uploading the clarification and supporting documents on the GST portal. If no reply is filed, the officer can reject the application in Form REG-05. Many Alandur applications are queried over rental agreements and electricity bills, so have the property papers vetted before replying. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 if you need the REG-04 response drafted properly.
Is everyone facing GST prosecution eligible to apply for compounding?
No. The statute excludes several categories. A person who has already been allowed to compound once in respect of the specified serious offences cannot compound again. Persons accused of issuing invoices without any supply of goods or services, the classic fake billing offence, were excluded from compounding altogether by the Finance Act 2023, and anyone convicted by a court under the GST law is also barred. Notably, the same 2023 amendments removed the earlier bar on compounding where the conduct was also an offence under another law, so that ground no longer disqualifies an applicant. Eligibility should be assessed before paying the underlying dues, since payment is a precondition but not a guarantee of compounding.
I received a GSTR-3A notice for not filing my GST returns. What should I do?
GSTR-3A is a system-generated default notice issued under Section 46 when you fail to file a return such as GSTR-3B. You must file the pending return within fifteen days of the notice, along with the tax due, interest at 18 percent per annum and late fee of Rs.50 per day (Rs.20 per day for nil returns, both capped with reference to turnover). Once the return is filed within this window, no further action follows. If you have stopped business, apply for cancellation instead of leaving returns pending, because notices will keep coming every month.
How do I check whether any GST notices have been issued to my business?
Log in to gst.gov.in and go to Services, then User Services, then View Notices and Orders for registration-related communications. Crucially, adjudication notices such as ASMT-10, DRC-01A and DRC-01 appear under a separate tab called View Additional Notices and Orders, which many taxpayers never open. Also verify that the email and mobile number on your registration are current, since the portal sends alerts there. We advise Alandur businesses to check both tabs at least once a month, because a reply deadline starts running from the date of issue on the portal, not from when you happen to see it.
An ASMT-13 best judgment order was passed against me. Can it still be nullified by filing the return?
Yes, Section 62 contains a self-correcting mechanism. If you furnish the valid return within sixty days of service of the ASMT-13 assessment order, the order is deemed withdrawn automatically, though late fee and interest remain payable. The Finance Act 2023 added a further cushion effective 1 October 2023: even after the sixty days, you can file the return within an additional sixty days by paying an extra late fee of Rs.100 per day under the CGST Act, with a matching state levy, for each day beyond the first window, and the order still stands withdrawn. Beyond the full one hundred and twenty days, the estimated demand becomes enforceable, leaving appeal as the remedy.
Should I just pay the amount mentioned in a DRC-01A intimation?
Only after checking the working. DRC-01A is an invitation to settle before a show cause notice, and if you agree with the ascertainment you can pay through DRC-03 and intimate it in Part B, after which no notice is issued for that amount. In a Section 73 matter, paying with interest at this stage means zero penalty, which is a genuine saving. But officers' ascertainments often ignore reconciliations, eligible credits or amounts already paid. Verify the computation, pay only what is truly due, and contest the balance in Part B with reasons. ChennaiGST routinely trims DRC-01A figures for clients before payment.
What is the difference between GST return scrutiny and a departmental audit?
Scrutiny under Section 61 is a desk review of your filed returns, where the officer points out specific discrepancies through ASMT-10 and you explain them in ASMT-11; it is limited to what the returns reveal. An audit under Section 65 is far wider: officers examine your books of account, records and returns together, can visit your premises, and test classification, valuation, ITC eligibility and exemptions for the years covered by the ADT-01. Scrutiny can be closed with a good reconciliation; an audit needs sustained document management and negotiation over weeks. Both, if unresolved, end in Section 73 or 74 demands, so early professional handling pays.
What happens if I do not reply to an ASMT-10 scrutiny notice?
If no satisfactory explanation is filed within thirty days, or you fail to correct the discrepancies, the officer can escalate the matter to a departmental audit under Section 65, a special audit under Section 66, an inspection under Section 67, or straightaway initiate a demand under Section 73 or Section 74. In practice, unanswered ASMT-10 notices convert into DRC-01A intimations and then show cause notices, where penalties and hearings enter the picture. Replying at the scrutiny stage is the cheapest point to close an issue, because you are only explaining, not yet defending a demand. Do not let the window lapse.
Can I reduce GST for discounts given after the sale, like turnover incentives?
Only if three conditions in Section 15(3)(b) are met: the discount was established under an agreement that existed before or at the time of supply, it can be linked to specific invoices, and the recipient reverses the input tax credit attributable to it. If all three hold, you issue a GST credit note and reduce your output tax. If any condition fails, which is common for year-end volume incentives negotiated later, the adjustment must go through a commercial credit note without any GST effect. Distributor incentive schemes run from Alandur should be papered before the season starts, not after.
What is the difference between a GST credit note and a commercial credit note?
A GST credit note is issued under Section 34, is reported in GSTR-1, and reduces your output tax, with the buyer reversing equivalent input credit. A commercial or financial credit note adjusts only the money owed between the parties; it carries no GST, is not reported in returns, and leaves everyone's tax position untouched. Businesses use commercial credit notes when the 30 November deadline has passed, or for post-supply discounts that do not satisfy the statutory conditions for a tax adjustment. Choosing the wrong instrument is a frequent audit finding, so decide the type before the note is issued.
Which food items became completely tax-free under GST 2.0?
From 22 September 2025, UHT milk, pre-packaged and labelled paneer and chena, and all Indian breads including roti, chapati, paratha and khakhra attract nil GST. In the pharma space, thirty-three notified lifesaving drugs and medicines for cancer and rare diseases also moved to nil rate. Remember that selling nil-rated goods still has compliance effects: you issue a bill of supply instead of a tax invoice for such items, and input tax credit attributable to nil-rated supplies must be reversed proportionately under Rules 42 and 43. Grocery retailers in Alandur commonly need help splitting mixed billing correctly.
Where is the place of supply for services connected to a building or land?
Services directly relating to immovable property, including those of architects, interior decorators, engineers, surveyors, construction and works contract services, renting, and accommodation in hotels, are supplied where the property is located, under Section 12(3). The recipient's location and registration are irrelevant. So a Alandur architect designing a factory in Coimbatore charges CGST plus SGST of Tamil Nadu, but for a project in Kochi the place of supply is Kerala and IGST applies. For hotels, the state where the hotel stands is always the place of supply, which is why accommodation is invariably billed with that state's local taxes regardless of where the guest's business is registered.
How do I document free samples and gifts given to customers?
Goods supplied genuinely free of cost to unrelated persons are not a supply, so no tax invoice is raised and no GST is charged; the movement is covered by a delivery challan marked as free samples. The cost is that input tax credit on those goods must be reversed. Two traps deserve care: gifts to related persons or between distinct GSTINs of the same PAN are taxable under Schedule I even without consideration, and promotional schemes like buy one get one are treated as a single price for two items, taxed normally with credit intact. Structure your Alandur promotions with this distinction in mind.
The GST rate on my product changed. Which rate applies to pending orders and invoices?
Section 14 of the CGST Act decides this by looking at three events: the date of supply, the date of invoice and the date of payment. Broadly, if any two of the three events fall after the rate change, the new rate applies; if two fall before, the old rate applies. So goods delivered in Alandur before 22 September 2025 but invoiced and paid for afterwards attract the new rate, while goods delivered and invoiced earlier keep the old rate even if payment came later. Document dates carefully during any transition window, because officers test these invoices in scrutiny.
What GST rate applies to cars and two-wheelers now?
Small cars, meaning petrol cars up to 1200cc and diesel cars up to 1500cc with length not exceeding 4 metres, attract 18 percent GST, down sharply from the earlier 28 percent plus cess. Larger cars, SUVs above these specifications, attract the 40 percent rate, but with the compensation cess gone, the overall burden on most of them is still lower than before. Motorcycles up to 350cc are at 18 percent, while those above 350cc attract 40 percent. Electric vehicles continue at a concessional 5 percent. Dealers must also apply these rates to demo vehicle sales.
What documents are required for GST notice reply in Alandur?
For GST notice reply you will generally need: Copy of the notice received, with its reference number and date, GST portal login credentials, GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B filed copies for the periods in question, GSTR-2A and GSTR-2B data for the relevant periods, Sales and purchase registers for the periods covered. The exact list depends on your constitution — proprietorship, partnership, LLP or company — and on the specifics of your case. Send what you have on WhatsApp to +91 - 9600 606 444 and we will confirm within the same working day exactly what else is needed, so nothing is rejected later for a missing paper.
