Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for Raja Street, Erukkanchery

Erukkancheri High Road, climbing from Basin Bridge to Moolakadai Junction, carries steel and hardware traders, tyre and lubricant shops, timber depots, automobile workshops and wholesale provision godowns, with workshop lanes running off Tirichi Chinnasamy Road, Udhaya Suriyan Road and Alagini Samy Road. Traders and transporters here regularly face e-way bill detentions on this corridor, ITC reversal under Rule 37 and GSTR-3B mismatch notices. GST compliance in a market like Erukkanchery rewards consistency — returns that match, credits that reconcile, and records that stand up to scrutiny. Our team provides GST Notice Reply to businesses throughout Erukkanchery and nearby Vyasarpadi and Kodungaiyur on fixed, transparent fees. From the first document checklist to the final acknowledgement on WhatsApp, the process is structured so nothing depends on memory, luck or a due-date-evening scramble.

GST jurisdiction for Erukkanchery (PIN 600118): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai North Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Erukkanchery before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST Support for Wholesale Traders in Erukkanchery
Wholesale trade runs on thin margins and heavy invoice volumes, so small GST errors multiply quickly. Once taxable supplies cross Rs.50 lakh in a month, Rule 86B requires at least one percent of output tax to be paid in cash regardless of credit balance, and quantity or turnover discounts must be passed through credit notes that satisfy Section 15(3)(b) to legally reduce taxable value. A specialist keeps your invoice-wise B2B reporting clean so retailer customers receive credit without friction, watches the Rs.5 crore e-invoicing threshold as volumes grow, and documents discount schemes in agreements the department will accept. Wholesalers in Erukkanchery can call +91 - 9600 606 444 for a margin-safe compliance review.
Urgent GST Notice Reply in Erukkanchery is handled on priority — expiring deadlines, suspended registrations and notice replies are taken up the same working day, with fixed professional fees starting at Rs.2,999.
Why Us

Why Raja Street, Erukkanchery Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

Extra Hands During Filing Windows

In the days before the 11th and the 20th, our team runs extended hours and a strict internal queue, so a client who sends data late in the window is still filed on time. Peak-season crush at our end never becomes a late fee at yours.

GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C Handled In-House

The annual return and, where turnover crosses Rs.5 crore, the self-certified reconciliation statement in GSTR-9C are prepared by the same team that filed your monthly returns. Nothing about your year has to be rediscovered or explained to a stranger in December.

Multi-GSTIN and Branch Coordination

Businesses with registrations in more than one State, or multiple branches under one PAN, face cross-charge, stock transfer and input service distribution questions that single-GSTIN firms never see. We keep all your registrations consistent with each other, not just compliant individually.

Ledger Housekeeping on the Portal

Your cash ledger, credit ledger and liability register are reviewed regularly, not just at filing time. Excess balances are flagged for use or refund, and where a genuine slip surfaces, a voluntary payment through DRC-03 settles it before it can mature into a notice.

E-Commerce Seller Reconciliation, Including TCS

Sellers on Amazon, Flipkart and other marketplaces face a three-way match between marketplace reports, GSTR-1 and the TCS the operator deposits against your GSTIN. We reconcile all three every period and accept the TCS credit, so sellers in Erukkanchery never leave marketplace deductions unclaimed.

Correct HSN Codes and Rates, Verified

GSTR-1 requires four-digit HSN reporting for turnover up to Rs.5 crore and six digits above it, and a wrong code often means a wrong rate. We verify the classification of what you actually supply, so your invoices and returns rest on defensible codes.

How It Works

Our Notice Reply Process

Notice study

We read the notice line by line, identify the section invoked, the periods covered, the exact information sought and the deadline for response.

Data reconciliation

The figures alleged in the notice are reconciled against your filed returns, GSTR-2B and books, so the reply is grounded in verifiable numbers rather than assertions.

Reply drafting

We draft a professional, point-wise reply addressing every allegation, attaching reconciliations, invoices and legal support, and share the draft with you for approval.

Filing and payment

The approved reply is filed on the portal within the deadline. Where a small genuine liability exists, we advise payment through DRC-03 to limit interest and penalty.

Closure tracking

We monitor the portal for the officer's response, attend to any further queries or hearing dates, and pursue the matter until a closure or order is received.

Outcomes

What You Get

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

Fewer Departmental Notices

Consistent, reconciled returns give the department's matching systems nothing to flag. Clients who move to us after years of self-filing typically see scrutiny queries and mismatch notices fall away within a few filing cycles.

Tax Paid Under the Right Head

Getting IGST versus CGST and SGST right at the invoice stage spares you the painful cycle of paying the correct head again and pursuing a refund of the amount paid under the wrong one.

A Professional Face on Every Invoice

Correct, complete tax invoices signal a well-run business to customers, vendors and banks alike, quietly strengthening your credibility in every transaction where your paperwork is seen.

Audit-Ready Records at All Times

Filed returns, challans, reconciliations and working papers are archived in order from day one. If an audit or departmental verification comes, your file is ready the same week, not assembled in a panic.

Slips Settled Before They Become Notices

Where a genuine error is found in a past period, voluntary payment through DRC-03 before any notice issues closes the matter at minimal cost, instead of letting it ripen into a demand with penalty.

Time Back for Your Actual Business

The hours you or your accountant spent wrestling with the portal, JSON errors and reconciliations every month return to sales, operations and customers, while trained hands manage the compliance in the background.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Late fees and interestFilings go in ahead of statutory dates, so the Rs.50-per-day late fee and 18 percent interest never arise.Late fees accumulate silently every delayed day, and interest on unpaid tax runs at 18 percent per annum.
Record keepingEvery return, challan, acknowledgement and working paper archived in an organised folder, retrievable in minutes years later.Documents scattered across email, downloads and old phones; assembling records for a bank or an audit takes days.
Annual return preparationMonthly reconciliations roll naturally into GSTR-9, filed comfortably before 31 December with figures already agreed through the year.Twelve months of unmatched data reconstructed in December, with differences discovered too late to be corrected cleanly.
When a notice arrivesA professional drafts the reply in the department's format and files it within the statutory window, such as thirty days for ASMT-11.You face departmental language alone, and a missed reply deadline can convert a simple query into a demand with penalty.
Due-date trackingA maintained compliance calendar with internal cut-offs days before the 11th and the 20th; we chase you for data, not the other way around.Deadlines remembered from memory or phone alarms; one busy week and the return slips past the due date.
Refund claimsRFD-01 filed with complete statements and annexures, tracked from ARN to bank credit, with any deficiency memo answered promptly.Incomplete claims bounce back as deficiency memos while the refund sits unclaimed for months and working capital stays blocked.

Circular

Further interest and late fee relief after the 40th Council meeting

Circular No. 141/11/2020-GST dated 24 June 2020 · 2020-06-24

This circular explained Notifications 51, 52 and 53 of 2020-Central Tax issued on the recommendations of the 40th GST Council meeting. The rate of interest was reduced from eighteen to nine per cent for specified periods, and for small taxpayers it was staggered, with nil interest up to a specified date and nine per cent thereafter until 30 September 2020. The conditional waiver of late fee on GSTR-3B was given revised dates for February to April 2020 and extended to May, June and July 2020 for small taxpayers, and late fee on delayed GSTR-1 was waived if filed by the specified dates. Circular No. 136/06/2020-GST was modified to this extent.

How we apply it: The late fee waiver here is conditional: if the GSTR-3B was not filed by the notified date, late fee runs from the original due date, so the actual filing date decides whether any waiver survives.

Case Law

A Section 74 notice must spell out the fraud or suppression that justifies the extended period

M/s. Fastenex (P) Ltd v. State Tax Officer (Inspection-VI) — Madras High Court, W.P. Nos. 35967, 35970, 35974 and 35976 of 2024 and connected batch, 2026:MHC:2269, decided 8 June 2026 (C. Saravanan J.) · 2026-06-08

A large batch of petitions challenged show cause notices issued under Section 74 for periods from 2021 onwards. The Madras High Court examined whether the jurisdictional facts of fraud, wilful misstatement or suppression of facts to evade tax must be set out in the notice itself, and held that the expression where it appears requires subjective satisfaction supported by material. A notice that does not specify those foundational facts suffers from a jurisdictional defect.

What to do about it: Where a Section 74 notice merely recites the statutory words without alleging specific suppression, challenge the invocation of the extended period at the outset.

Portal Advisory

Officers barred from demanding unlisted documents for GST registration

CBIC Instruction No. 03/2025-GST · 2025-04-17

Responding to widespread complaints about arbitrary queries, CBIC directed registration officers to seek only the documents listed in Form GST REG-01. For rented premises a valid rent agreement with the owner's ownership proof suffices; for owned premises any one ownership document is enough; no-objection certificates suffice for consent premises. Officers must not demand physical originals, question the applicant's residential address or business activity, or raise presumptive queries, and any query must be specific and approved by the Deputy or Assistant Commissioner.

What it means for you: If a registration query asks for documents outside the prescribed list, cite this instruction in your REG-04 reply and escalate to the jurisdictional Commissioner if it persists.

Already Holding the Notice? Read It in About a Minute

Upload the PDF to our free GST Notice Analyser. It identifies which of 34 notice types you have, pulls out the DIN, GSTIN and tax period, reads the reply date printed on the notice and tells you plainly whether that date has already passed — along with the documents and reconciliations you will need. No payment, no account. If the notice does not state a date we can read, it says so rather than guessing one for you.

Analyse my notice — free WhatsApp it to a consultant

The analyser reports what your notice says and the statutory position for that form. It is not a substitute for a consultant reading your actual records, and a reply should be reviewed before you file it.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

What documents are required for GST notice reply in Erukkanchery?
For GST notice reply you will generally need: Copy of the notice received, with its reference number and date, GST portal login credentials, GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B filed copies for the periods in question, GSTR-2A and GSTR-2B data for the relevant periods, Sales and purchase registers for the periods covered. The exact list depends on your constitution — proprietorship, partnership, LLP or company — and on the specifics of your case. Send what you have on WhatsApp to +91 - 9600 606 444 and we will confirm within the same working day exactly what else is needed, so nothing is rejected later for a missing paper.
What is the process for GST notice reply?
The process runs in clear stages: Notice study; Data reconciliation; Reply drafting; Filing and payment. A senior consultant reviews your file at each stage rather than passing it to a data-entry desk, and you receive a confirmation with the filed documents once it is complete. You always know which stage your work is at — we update you on WhatsApp instead of leaving you to follow up.
How can I verify whether a GST notice I received is genuine or fake?
Every communication from a central GST officer must carry a Document Identification Number (DIN), which you can verify on the CBIC website. Notices issued through the GST portal carry a Reference Number that can be checked after logging in, and a genuine notice will also appear in your View Notices and Orders or View Additional Notices and Orders tab. As per CBIC instructions, a communication without a DIN is treated as invalid. Be cautious of demands received only on WhatsApp or email asking for payment to personal accounts. If in doubt, call +91 - 9600 606 444 and we will verify the document before you respond.
Can a GST officer arrest a businessman, and what safeguards exist?
Yes, but only within defined limits. Under Section 69, the Commissioner must record reasons to believe that a person has committed one of the serious specified offences, chiefly fake invoicing and evasion beyond the prosecution thresholds, before authorising arrest. For cognizable, non-bailable cases, the person must be produced before a Magistrate within twenty-four hours; for bailable offences, the Deputy or Assistant Commissioner can grant bail. Departmental instructions require that arrest is not routine and must be justified by factors like flight risk or evidence tampering. If summons in a Erukkanchery investigation escalate toward arrest talk, engage counsel immediately; call +91 - 9600 606 444 for coordination.
I received a GSTR-3A notice for not filing my GST returns. What should I do?
GSTR-3A is a system-generated default notice issued under Section 46 when you fail to file a return such as GSTR-3B. You must file the pending return within fifteen days of the notice, along with the tax due, interest at 18 percent per annum and late fee of Rs.50 per day (Rs.20 per day for nil returns, both capped with reference to turnover). Once the return is filed within this window, no further action follows. If you have stopped business, apply for cancellation instead of leaving returns pending, because notices will keep coming every month.
What penalties does Section 122 of the CGST Act prescribe, and for which offences?
Section 122(1) lists twenty-one offences, including supplying without an invoice, issuing an invoice without supply, collecting tax but not depositing it beyond three months, failing to deduct or collect TDS or TCS, wrongly availing input tax credit and failing to register when liable. The penalty is Rs.10,000 or an amount equivalent to the tax evaded or credit wrongly taken, whichever is higher. For short payment of tax, Section 122(2) prescribes 10 percent of the tax or Rs.10,000, whichever is higher, in non-fraud cases, and a penalty equal to the tax or Rs.10,000, whichever is higher, where fraud is involved. An equal penalty applies under the SGST Act.
What imprisonment terms does GST law prescribe, and which offences are non-bailable?
Section 132 links punishment to the amount involved: imprisonment up to five years with fine where the tax evaded or credit misused exceeds Rs.5 crore, up to three years where it exceeds Rs.2 crore, and up to one year for the Rs.1 crore to Rs.2 crore band, which after the Finance Act 2023 changes survives only for the offence of issuing invoices without supply. A repeat conviction can attract up to five years regardless of amount. Offences involving supply without invoice, invoices without supply, credit from such invoices, and collected-but-not-deposited tax are cognizable and non-bailable when the amount exceeds Rs.5 crore; everything else is non-cognizable and bailable. Courts take cognizance only with the Commissioner's previous sanction.
An ASMT-13 best judgment order was passed against me. Can it still be nullified by filing the return?
Yes, Section 62 contains a self-correcting mechanism. If you furnish the valid return within sixty days of service of the ASMT-13 assessment order, the order is deemed withdrawn automatically, though late fee and interest remain payable. The Finance Act 2023 added a further cushion effective 1 October 2023: even after the sixty days, you can file the return within an additional sixty days by paying an extra late fee of Rs.100 per day under the CGST Act, with a matching state levy, for each day beyond the first window, and the order still stands withdrawn. Beyond the full one hundred and twenty days, the estimated demand becomes enforceable, leaving appeal as the remedy.
I received an ASMT-10 scrutiny notice for my Erukkanchery business. What exactly is it?
ASMT-10 is a notice issued under Section 61 after the officer scrutinises your filed returns and finds discrepancies, such as differences between GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, excess ITC compared with GSTR-2B, or turnover gaps against e-way bill data. It is not yet a demand; it is an opportunity to explain. You must respond in Form ASMT-11 within thirty days, either justifying each discrepancy with reconciliations or accepting the liability and paying through DRC-03. A well-documented ASMT-11 usually closes the matter with an ASMT-12 acceptance order. Scrutiny notices are common among Erukkanchery traders, so respond seriously but without panic.
What is the difference between GST return scrutiny and a departmental audit?
Scrutiny under Section 61 is a desk review of your filed returns, where the officer points out specific discrepancies through ASMT-10 and you explain them in ASMT-11; it is limited to what the returns reveal. An audit under Section 65 is far wider: officers examine your books of account, records and returns together, can visit your premises, and test classification, valuation, ITC eligibility and exemptions for the years covered by the ADT-01. Scrutiny can be closed with a good reconciliation; an audit needs sustained document management and negotiation over weeks. Both, if unresolved, end in Section 73 or 74 demands, so early professional handling pays.
Can I use my input tax credit balance to pay a DRC-03 liability?
Partly. The tax component of a DRC-03 payment can be settled from the electronic credit ledger, subject to the usual cross-utilisation rules between IGST, CGST and SGST. However, interest, penalty and late fee can never be paid from credit; those components must come from the electronic cash ledger, so you may need to deposit a challan first. The portal shows both ledger balances on the payment screen and lets you split the utilisation. Planning this split correctly avoids depositing cash unnecessarily when credit is lying idle, which is a routine saving we make for clients every month.
We sponsored a trade event. Does reverse charge apply to the sponsorship amount?
If your business is a body corporate or partnership firm, sponsorship services received are notified under Section 9(3) and you must pay 18 percent GST under reverse charge, with ITC available since sponsorship is a marketing expense. One recent change matters: with effect from 16 January 2025, sponsorship services provided by a body corporate were moved to forward charge, so if the event organiser billing you is a company, it now charges GST on its invoice and RCM does not apply. Where the provider is a proprietor, trust or society, RCM continues. Verify the organiser's constitution before booking the entry, and raise a self-invoice where the provider is unregistered.
I declare income under Section 44ADA. Does that mean I am exempt from GST?
No, this is a common myth. Section 44ADA is a presumptive taxation scheme under the Income Tax Act that lets professionals declare fifty percent of gross receipts as income; it has nothing to do with GST. GST liability depends solely on aggregate turnover crossing the registration threshold and the nature of your supplies. In fact, the two departments now cross-match data, so gross receipts reported in your ITR and Form 26AS that exceed the GST turnover you declared are a known trigger for notices. Treat the two laws as parallel obligations, each with its own limits and filings.
We pay for foreign software subscriptions and overseas consultants. Is GST payable in India?
Yes. Import of services, meaning services from a supplier located outside India received by a person in India for business, attracts IGST under reverse charge in the recipient's hands, payable in cash and claimable as ITC if eligible. This catches cloud software, foreign professional fees, overseas advertising and licence fees. Two nuances matter: services from a related foreign party, such as your parent company, are taxable even without consideration under Schedule I, and OIDAR services supplied to unregistered consumers are taxed in the foreign supplier's own hands, not under RCM. Startups and IT firms in Erukkanchery paying by card frequently miss these entries; reconcile foreign remittances against RCM paid annually.
Should I claim a refund of my accumulated ITC or just carry it forward?
Carry-forward suits businesses whose future output tax will absorb the credit within a few months, since it avoids refund paperwork. A refund makes sense when the credit keeps growing and will never be absorbed, which is typical for exporters under LUT and businesses with inverted duty structure, because idle credit is interest-free money locked with the government. Remember that refunds are only available in categories permitted by Section 54; ordinary accumulated credit from slow sales cannot be refunded. A quick review of your credit ledger trend over six months usually makes the right answer obvious.
Does compensation cess still apply on any goods?
For most goods, no. With the rate restructuring of 22 September 2025, compensation cess was discontinued on items such as cars, and the demerit burden was merged into the single 40 percent rate. The cess continues only on pan masala and specified tobacco products during the transition period while past compensation cess loan obligations are being discharged. A practical point for traders: balances of unutilised compensation cess credit cannot be cross-utilised against CGST, SGST or IGST liability, so businesses holding old cess credit should evaluate their position rather than assuming it will set off future tax.
Is the late fee charged on delayed returns the same thing as a penalty?
No, they are legally distinct. Late fee under Section 47 is an automatic, fixed daily charge for filing a return after its due date, computed by the portal and payable in cash before the return is accepted; no officer discretion or notice is involved. Penalty, under provisions such as Sections 122 to 125, is imposed through adjudication for specified offences, requires a show cause notice and hearing, and can be contested or reduced. Interest under Section 50 is a third, separate levy compensating for delayed payment. A delayed return with tax due can therefore attract all three simultaneously, each on its own footing.
Can one invoice contain items taxed at different GST rates?
Yes, there is no requirement to issue separate invoices per rate. A single tax invoice can carry multiple line items, each with its own HSN code, taxable value, rate and tax amount, and the totals section simply aggregates the tax rate-wise. A hardware store in Erukkanchery can bill cement at 18 percent and certain tools at 5 percent on one document. What matters is that each line is classified and taxed correctly, and that mixed baskets are not collapsed into one rate. Be careful with genuine composite supplies, where one principal supply drives a single rate; that is a classification question, not an invoicing one.
Can I get GST notice reply done online without visiting the office?
Yes, the entire process can be handled online. You share scanned documents on WhatsApp or email, we prepare and file everything on the GST portal, and you receive the acknowledgement and filed copies digitally. Businesses in Erukkanchery regularly complete notice reply with us without a single office visit. If a physical verification or personal hearing is required by the department, we guide you through it.
How much does GST notice reply cost in Erukkanchery?
Our fee for GST notice reply in Erukkanchery starts at Rs.2,999 and is quoted in full before we begin — there are no hidden charges added later. The fee covers professional work end to end: document review, preparation, filing and follow-up until completion. Government fees or portal charges, where applicable, are separate and always shown to you upfront. For an exact quote based on your turnover and business type, call +91 - 9600 606 444 and a consultant will confirm it on the call.
How long does GST notice reply take in Erukkanchery?
Draft reply in 3-5 working days. That assumes your documents are complete and there is no departmental query. We start the same day we receive your papers and tell you the realistic completion date upfront rather than an optimistic one. Where the GST portal or the officer causes delay — clarifications, physical verification or system issues — we track it daily and keep you informed on WhatsApp.
