Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for Siruseri

Siruseri on Rajiv Gandhi Salai hosts the SIPCOT IT Park, among Asia's largest, with the TCS Siruseri campus and a service economy of caterers, employee transport fleets, facility management firms and service apartments built around it. IT exporters need a fresh LUT under RFD-11 each financial year for zero-rated billing, while transport and canteen contractors wrestle with rate slabs and input credit restrictions on their services. Years of working in and around Siruseri have shown us where GST trouble actually begins here — supplier defaults, classification doubts and deadlines lost in busy trading weeks. Our Departmental Audit Support is built to close precisely those gaps, and the same team supports businesses in Navalur and Kelambakkam, each with one point of contact and a compliance calendar maintained on their behalf.

GST jurisdiction for Siruseri (PIN 603103): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai Outer Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Siruseri before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for Manufacturers in Siruseri
Manufacturing compliance revolves around movement documents. Inputs sent to job workers must travel on Rule 45 delivery challans and return within one year, or three years for capital goods, failing which the original dispatch is treated as a supply with tax and interest. These movements are reported in Form ITC-04, half-yearly for turnover above Rs.5 crore and annually below it. Credit on machinery follows the capital goods rules, waste and scrap sales are fully taxable, and production-to-turnover ratios are a favourite audit test. A specialist keeps the challan register, ITC-04 filings and scrap invoicing aligned so a factory audit finds a closed loop, not loose ends.
Yes, Departmental Audit Support in Siruseri can be completed fully online — no office visit is required at any stage, since e-signatures, OTP verification and digital document exchange cover the entire formality, with fees from Rs.9,999.
Why Us

Why Siruseri Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

✓

Fast, Clean Registrations and Amendments

New GSTIN applications, core field amendments through REG-14, additional places of business — we prepare complete, query-resistant applications the first time. Clean paperwork is the difference between smooth approval and weeks lost answering clarification memos from the department.

✓

Free Health Check of Your Past Filings

Every new client receives a review of their recent returns before we file anything — unclaimed credit, GSTR-1 versus GSTR-3B drift, and exposures worth correcting quietly. Businesses in Siruseri often discover in this first review exactly why their previous arrangement was costing them money.

✓

One Dedicated Point of Contact

You deal with one accountable person who knows your business, your turnover pattern and your filing history. No repeating your story to a new voice every month, and no file falling between two desks when a deadline is approaching.

✓

Familiar with Chennai Jurisdictions and Officers' Expectations

We work with Chennai GST ranges and circles every week, including the jurisdiction covering Siruseri. We know how local proper officers examine registrations, what supporting documents they routinely call for, and how to present a file so it moves without repeated queries.

✓

GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C Handled In-House

The annual return and, where turnover crosses Rs.5 crore, the self-certified reconciliation statement in GSTR-9C are prepared by the same team that filed your monthly returns. Nothing about your year has to be rediscovered or explained to a stranger in December.

✓

Support in Tamil and English

GST is confusing enough without a language barrier. Our team explains notices, tax positions and filing requirements in plain Tamil or English, whichever you and your staff in Siruseri are comfortable with, and keeps written communication simple and jargon-free.

How It Works

Our Audit Support Process

Notice review and planning

We study ADT-01 and its annexure, agree a records timetable with the audit officer where needed, and plan the engagement around the periods selected.

Pre-audit reconciliation

Before the team arrives we reconcile turnover, tax and ITC for every audit year, identifying weak areas and preparing explanations and supporting papers in advance.

Records submission

Documents are compiled, indexed and submitted in an organised form, which shortens verification and signals that the taxpayer's records are dependable.

Query management

Each audit enquiry and observation memo receives a written, evidence-backed reply, and we discuss contentious points with the audit team before findings are finalised.

Findings and closure

We review ADT-02, arrange DRC-03 payment for accepted points to limit penalty, and prepare the defence file for any finding likely to become a demand notice.

Outcomes

What You Get

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

★

Bank and Tender Readiness

Loan applications and government tenders routinely demand GST returns and registration documents. With everything filed and archived properly, you can produce a complete compliance file within hours instead of days.

★

Fewer Departmental Notices

Consistent, reconciled returns give the department's matching systems nothing to flag. Clients who move to us after years of self-filing typically see scrutiny queries and mismatch notices fall away within a few filing cycles.

★

Waiver Benefits Never Missed

Late-fee waivers and amnesty windows notified by the GST Council are applied to your history within their deadlines, capturing reliefs that most businesses only hear about once the window has already closed.

★

Compliance That Continues When You Travel

Illness, travel or a family function no longer threatens a deadline. With a standing external process holding your calendar and data trail, filings proceed on schedule whether or not you are at your desk.

★

No More Late Fees

With returns filed ahead of the statutory due dates every period, the Rs.50-per-day GSTR-3B late fee simply stops appearing in your life, and the money stays in your business where it belongs.

★

Credit Notes That Actually Reduce Your Tax

Sales returns, discounts and price revisions are adjusted through properly reported credit notes within the statutory window, so you never keep paying tax on turnover you have already reversed.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Time costRoughly an hour a month to send data and approve drafts; the portal work, reconciliation and follow-up are ours.Hours every month lost to portal errors, JSON files, OTP failures and reworking figures — usually on the due date itself.
Due-date trackingA maintained compliance calendar with internal cut-offs days before the 11th and the 20th; we chase you for data, not the other way around.Deadlines remembered from memory or phone alarms; one busy week and the return slips past the due date.
Late fees and interestFilings go in ahead of statutory dates, so the Rs.50-per-day late fee and 18 percent interest never arise.Late fees accumulate silently every delayed day, and interest on unpaid tax runs at 18 percent per annum.
Risk of noticesGSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B reconciled before filing, removing the mismatches that trigger most scrutiny notices.Inconsistent figures across returns quietly build a mismatch history that surfaces later as ASMT-10 scrutiny or a demand notice.
Record keepingEvery return, challan, acknowledgement and working paper archived in an organised folder, retrievable in minutes years later.Documents scattered across email, downloads and old phones; assembling records for a bank or an audit takes days.
Input tax creditPurchase register matched against GSTR-2B each period, with defaulting suppliers chased so eligible credit is actually captured.Credit claimed from books alone; mismatches with GSTR-2B mean lost credit or excess claims that invite departmental queries.

Portal Advisory

Old GST returns are being archived and removed from the portal

GSTN Advisory dated 24 September 2024 — archival of GST returns data older than seven years · 2024-09-24

GSTN advised that return data on the common portal is retained for seven years only, after which it is archived and no longer available for viewing or download. Archival started with the earliest tax periods of 2017-18 and proceeds month by month, so one further month of data drops off the portal every month. Taxpayers were advised to download and preserve their returns and supporting data before the archival date for each period.

What it means for you: Download and store PDF and JSON copies of every GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-9 filed since 2017, because archived returns cannot be retrieved from the portal during an audit or appeal.

GST Council

Council fixes the basic GST registration threshold at Rs 20 lakh

1st GST Council Meeting, New Delhi — 22-23 September 2016 (Signed Minutes, Agenda Item 3) · 2016-09-23

At its very first meeting the Council debated exemption thresholds ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 25 lakh and finally agreed that a business would not need GST registration until its aggregate turnover crossed Rs 20 lakh. For the eleven Special Category States listed in Article 279A of the Constitution, the threshold was set at Rs 10 lakh. The Chairperson recorded that the figure would be reviewed after five years, once the compensation guarantee to States had run its course.

What it means for you: The Rs 20 lakh figure that still governs whether a small Chennai service business must register was settled at this meeting and has been the starting point for every later threshold change.

Circular

Rate and exemption clarifications on services after the 47th Council

Circular No. 177/09/2022-TRU · 2022-08-03

The Board answered a set of service classification and exemption questions arising from the 47th GST Council meeting. Most importantly for property transactions, it confirmed that the sale of land after levelling and after laying drainage, water and electricity lines remains a sale of land under Schedule III and is outside GST, while development services such as levelling and laying of drainage lines that the developer itself receives from contractors attract GST at the applicable rate. Several other exemption and rate questions on specified services were also settled.

What to do about it: Chennai plot developers can rely on this circular for the position that a plot sale price is not taxable, but must still bear GST on the development works they buy in from contractors.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

How long does departmental audit support take in Siruseri?
Engagement runs through the audit, typically 1-3 months. That assumes your documents are complete and there is no departmental query. We start the same day we receive your papers and tell you the realistic completion date upfront rather than an optimistic one. Where the GST portal or the officer causes delay — clarifications, physical verification or system issues — we track it daily and keep you informed on WhatsApp.
Do you provide gst departmental audit support for small businesses and proprietorships in Siruseri?
Yes. A large share of our clients in Siruseri are proprietors, small traders, shop owners, freelancers and family businesses rather than large companies. The fee of Rs.9,999 and the process are the same regardless of size, and we explain the compliance position in plain language — in Tamil or English — so you understand what is being filed on your behalf and why.
How will I be informed of the GST audit findings?
On conclusion of the audit, the officer must inform you of the findings, your rights and obligations, and the reasons for the findings in Form ADT-02 within thirty days. Before that, most audit teams share draft observations and seek your response, which is your best window to knock out weak points with documents. If the audit detects unpaid tax or wrongly availed ITC, you can accept and pay through DRC-03, or contest, in which case the department initiates proceedings under Section 73 or Section 74. Treat the draft objection stage seriously; a strong rebuttal there often prevents a show cause notice altogether.
The audit team has pointed out a tax liability. Should I pay it or contest it?
Evaluate each para on its own merits. For findings that are clearly correct, such as missed reverse charge or arithmetic ITC excess, paying through DRC-03 with interest before a show cause notice is issued avoids penalty under Section 73 and closes the para. For findings based on debatable classification, valuation or ITC interpretation, submit a reasoned rebuttal to the draft observations, because accepting them sets a precedent for future years. If the department still proceeds, contest the DRC-01 through DRC-06 and, if needed, appeal. ChennaiGST gives Siruseri businesses a para-wise pay-or-fight recommendation with quantified exposure; call +91 - 9600 606 444 before you concede anything.
What documents do GST audit officers usually ask for?
Expect to produce the GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-9 filings for the audit years, audited financial statements, trial balance, sales and purchase registers, ITC ledgers with supplier-wise detail, fixed asset register, e-way bill data, bank statements, key customer and vendor agreements, stock records and reconciliations between books and returns. Officers in Tamil Nadu commonly probe ITC on blocked credits under Section 17(5), reverse charge compliance, classification and rate issues, and turnover differences with income tax filings. Preparing a reconciliation file before submission lets you spot and voluntarily correct issues through DRC-03, which is far cheaper than an audit objection. ChennaiGST builds this file for Siruseri clients.
What is the difference between GST return scrutiny and a departmental audit?
Scrutiny under Section 61 is a desk review of your filed returns, where the officer points out specific discrepancies through ASMT-10 and you explain them in ASMT-11; it is limited to what the returns reveal. An audit under Section 65 is far wider: officers examine your books of account, records and returns together, can visit your premises, and test classification, valuation, ITC eligibility and exemptions for the years covered by the ADT-01. Scrutiny can be closed with a good reconciliation; an audit needs sustained document management and negotiation over weeks. Both, if unresolved, end in Section 73 or 74 demands, so early professional handling pays.
How long can a departmental GST audit under Section 65 go on?
The law requires the audit to be completed within three months from its commencement, which is the date the officers receive all the records they asked for. Where the Commissioner is satisfied that the audit cannot be completed in that time, he may record reasons and extend it by a further period not exceeding six months. In practice, audits drag when taxpayers supply records piecemeal, so submitting a complete, indexed set of documents at the start actually shortens the exercise. Track every submission with an acknowledgment, because the commencement date and the timeline arguments may matter later if disputes arise.
I received Form ADT-01 saying my business is selected for GST audit. What does it mean?
ADT-01 is the intimation that the department will conduct an audit of your records under Section 65. The notice must be issued at least fifteen working days before the audit begins and will specify the financial years covered and the documents required. The audit may happen at your place of business or at the department's office. It is a detailed examination of returns, books, ITC claims and classifications, not a routine visit. Use the fifteen-day window to reconcile your data and organise records rather than waiting for the officers to arrive. ChennaiGST provides end-to-end audit support for Siruseri businesses; call +91 - 9600 606 444 early.
I received a DRC-01 notice for ITC mismatch between GSTR-3B and GSTR-2A. How do I defend it?
Start with a supplier-wise reconciliation identifying why each credit is missing from GSTR-2A, such as the supplier filing late, quoting a wrong GSTIN or reporting B2B supplies as B2C. For FY 2017-18 and 2018-19, CBIC Circular 183/15/2022 permits proving genuine credits through supplier certificates or CA certificates, which resolves many Siruseri cases. Attach tax invoices, payment proofs and ledger extracts to your DRC-06 reply to establish that the conditions of Section 16 were met. Where a supplier has genuinely defaulted, quantify and pay only that portion through DRC-03 rather than conceding the entire demand.
My GST registration was cancelled. Should I file an appeal or a revocation application?
If the cancellation was initiated by the department, for example for non-filing, the primary remedy is a revocation application in Form REG-21 within ninety days of the cancellation order, after filing all pending returns and clearing tax, interest and late fees. Revocation is quicker and handled by the same jurisdictional officer. An appeal in APL-01 within three months is the route when revocation is rejected, when the ninety-day window is lost, or when you dispute the very grounds of cancellation. Choosing the wrong track wastes precious weeks while your Siruseri business cannot issue tax invoices, so decide with advice on day one.
What does it cost to file a GST appeal in Siruseri?
Apart from the statutory pre-deposit of 10 percent of the disputed tax, which is your own money adjusted against the demand, the professional fee depends on the order's complexity, the number of issues and hearing effort involved. At ChennaiGST, appeal engagements start at Rs.9,999 and cover studying the order, drafting the grounds of appeal and statement of facts, computing and paying the pre-deposit, filing APL-01 with annexures, and representation at hearings before the appellate authority in Chennai. We take up appeals for businesses across Siruseri and give a written scope before starting. Share your order on +91 - 9600 606 444 for a quote.
What is the electronic liability register on the GST portal and why should I check it?
The electronic liability register, maintained in Form PMT-01, records every liability raised against your GSTIN: self-assessed tax from returns in Part I, and demands from assessments, adjudication orders and DRC-07 summaries in Part II. Payments and pre-deposits are set off against these entries. You can view it under Services, then Ledgers. Checking Part II periodically matters because demand entries you never noticed can trigger recovery, interest accumulation and refund adjustments. During any refund claim, the officer will offset outstanding register balances, so a clean register speeds up your money. We review all three ledgers in every Siruseri health check.
What is the place of supply for freight and courier charges on goods?
For transportation of goods, including by courier, Section 12(8) fixes the place of supply as the location of the recipient where the recipient is registered. Where the recipient is unregistered, it is the location where the goods are handed over for transportation. So a registered Siruseri manufacturer paying a transporter for a Chennai-to-Delhi movement has Tamil Nadu as the place of supply, and the RCM liability is paid as CGST plus SGST if the transporter is also in Tamil Nadu. This rule matters chiefly for paying reverse charge on GTA freight under the correct heads, because paying IGST where CGST and SGST were due creates a refund-and-repay exercise later.
Why is my e-way bill generation blocked on the portal?
Under Rule 138E, the e-way bill facility is blocked when a taxpayer has not filed GSTR-3B (or CMP-08 for composition dealers) for two or more consecutive tax periods. Since an e-way bill is mandatory for moving goods worth more than Rs.50,000, blocking effectively halts dispatches. The remedy is straightforward: file the pending returns with late fee and interest, after which the facility unblocks automatically, usually the next day. Transporters and suppliers can also be affected when a counterparty GSTIN is blocked. We clear return backlogs for businesses in Siruseri on priority; call +91 - 9600 606 444.
Our company paid fees to a lawyer. Who pays the GST on this?
You do, as the recipient. Legal services supplied by an individual advocate, a firm of advocates or a senior advocate to a business entity are notified under Section 9(3), so the advocate does not charge GST and your business pays 18 percent under reverse charge in cash through GSTR-3B, claiming it back as ITC if otherwise eligible. Relief exists for small recipients: legal services to a business entity whose turnover is within the registration threshold are exempt. Since the advocate is usually unregistered, remember to raise a self-invoice and payment voucher for the transaction. Litigation-heavy businesses in Siruseri should reconcile their legal expense ledger against RCM paid every quarter.
My GST status shows suspended. What does that mean for my business in Siruseri?
Suspension is an intermediate state that occurs when you apply for cancellation, or when the officer initiates cancellation proceedings, commonly for return defaults or data mismatches. While suspended, you cannot make taxable supplies, meaning you should not issue tax invoices or charge GST, and e-way bill generation is blocked. The fix depends on the cause: if you triggered it by applying for cancellation, await the order; if the department triggered it, reply to the show cause notice in REG-18 within seven working days and clear pending returns. Acting within the notice window usually gets the suspension lifted; call +91 - 9600 606 444 if you have received one.
What GST do hotels charge on room tariffs after the 2025 rate changes?
From 22 September 2025, hotel accommodation with a value of supply up to Rs.7,500 per unit per day attracts 5 percent GST without input tax credit, and accommodation above Rs.7,500 attracts 18 percent with input tax credit. The earlier 12 percent slab for mid-range rooms was abolished in the rate rationalisation. Tax applies on the actual transaction value charged, so a discounted rate below Rs.7,500 falls in the 5 percent bracket even if the printed tariff is higher. Hotels should reconfigure billing software slab-wise and watch the ITC restriction on the 5 percent category, which changes costing materially.
Who must sign GST filings with a DSC, and who can use EVC?
Companies and limited liability partnerships must authenticate registration applications and returns with a Digital Signature Certificate of the authorised signatory; the Electronic Verification Code route is not ordinarily available to them, though the government has periodically allowed EVC for companies during specified relaxation windows. Proprietorships, partnerships, HUFs and trusts can freely use EVC, an OTP sent to the authorised signatory's registered mobile and email. The DSC must be a Class 3 signature registered on the portal against the signatory's PAN. If a company's filings fail at the signing step, an expired or unregistered DSC is the usual culprit.
Are there any hidden charges for departmental audit support?
No. The fee quoted before we start is the fee you pay. Government fees, portal charges or statutory late fees, where they apply, are separate and disclosed to you in advance with the exact amount. We issue a proper GST invoice for our professional fee. If the scope of work changes — for example, an unexpected notice or additional periods — we tell you the revised fee before doing anything further.
Which GST office handles Siruseri businesses?
Businesses in Siruseri (PIN 603103) generally fall under the CGST Chennai Outer Commissionerate, with state-jurisdiction cases handled by the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department. Your exact division and range can be confirmed from your GSTIN on the GST portal. We regularly appear before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and hearings, so we know the local practice and documentation preferences.
What documents are required for departmental audit support in Siruseri?
For departmental audit support you will generally need: Copy of the audit notice ADT-01 with its annexure of records, GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C for the audit periods, Audited financial statements and trial balance for the audit years, Sales and purchase registers with invoice access, Input tax credit register and GSTR-2A or 2B downloads. The exact list depends on your constitution — proprietorship, partnership, LLP or company — and on the specifics of your case. Send what you have on WhatsApp to +91 - 9600 606 444 and we will confirm within the same working day exactly what else is needed, so nothing is rejected later for a missing paper.
