Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for Rajakilpakkam

Choosing LUT Filing RFD-11 in Rajakilpakkam is ultimately an act of trust: you are handing over sales figures, purchase records and portal access. Rajakilpakkam sits between Camp Road Junction and Madambakkam High Road, a household retail belt of provision stores, hardware and paint dealers, clinics, tuition centres and small eateries, with apartment blocks rising along the IAF Road and Karpaga Nagar layouts. Kirana traders hover around the registration threshold, while joint-development promoters wrestle with the one and five per cent residential rates and blocked input tax credit. We earn that trust the unglamorous way — fixed fees honoured, drafts approved by you before filing, acknowledgements shared the same day, and strict confidentiality throughout. Clients across Rajakilpakkam, Sembakkam and Selaiyur have stayed with us for years on precisely this basis.

GST jurisdiction for Rajakilpakkam (PIN 600073): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai Outer Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Rajakilpakkam before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for Auto Component Businesses in Rajakilpakkam
Auto components moved to a uniform 18 percent from the earlier 28 percent slab with effect from 22 September 2025, simplifying rate disputes but tightening OEM compliance expectations. Suppliers in Rajakilpakkam must issue e-invoices with IRNs that OEM systems validate before releasing payment, send goods for machining or plating on Rule 45 delivery challans, and report those job work movements in Form ITC-04. Parts replaced free of charge under warranty attract no further GST because tax was collected on the original composite price, a position clarified by CBIC in 2023. A specialist keeps the challan-to-ITC-04 trail complete so nothing is deemed a supply when job work runs long.
To get LUT Filing RFD-11 in Rajakilpakkam, share your documents by WhatsApp or visit the office, approve the prepared draft, and the filing is completed on the GST portal from Rs.999.
Why Us

Why Rajakilpakkam Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

✓

Handholding for First-Time Registrants

A new GSTIN comes with obligations nobody explains at approval — the invoice series rules, displaying the registration certificate and GSTIN at your premises, and the first return cycle. We walk new registrants in Rajakilpakkam through each of these so month one starts correctly.

✓

Cancelled GSTIN? We Handle Revocation Too

A registration cancelled for non-filing is not the end of the road. We bring the pending returns up to date, clear the dues and file the revocation application in REG-21 within the permitted window, restoring suspended and cancelled GSTINs to active status.

✓

Multi-GSTIN and Branch Coordination

Businesses with registrations in more than one State, or multiple branches under one PAN, face cross-charge, stock transfer and input service distribution questions that single-GSTIN firms never see. We keep all your registrations consistent with each other, not just compliant individually.

✓

Notice-Proof Filing Discipline

Most GST notices trace back to mismatches between GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B. We reconcile these before filing, not after a notice arrives, so your returns are internally consistent and the most common triggers for ASMT-10 scrutiny simply never appear.

✓

Extra Hands During Filing Windows

In the days before the 11th and the 20th, our team runs extended hours and a strict internal queue, so a client who sends data late in the window is still filed on time. Peak-season crush at our end never becomes a late fee at yours.

✓

Clean Exits When a Business Closes

Winding up attracts its own GST obligations — the cancellation application, reversal of credit on closing stock, and the final return in GSTR-10 within three months. We close registrations properly so a business you shut in Rajakilpakkam never writes back to you as a demand years later.

How It Works

Our LUT Filing Process

Eligibility check

We confirm you are eligible to file an LUT, which covers all registered exporters except those prosecuted for tax evasion exceeding Rs.2.5 crore.

Details preparation

We compile the authorised signatory information and the names, addresses and occupations of two independent witnesses required for the undertaking in Form RFD-11.

Online filing

The LUT is filed on the GST portal under the refunds menu, signed with DSC or EVC, usually completed on the same working day.

Acknowledgement handover

We download the filed LUT and share the ARN, which should be quoted on every export invoice raised without payment of IGST during the year.

Renewal tracking

We record the validity, which runs to the end of the financial year, and remind you before 1 April so the fresh LUT is in place for the new year.

Outcomes

What You Get

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

★

No More Late Fees

With returns filed ahead of the statutory due dates every period, the Rs.50-per-day GSTR-3B late fee simply stops appearing in your life, and the money stays in your business where it belongs.

★

Export Benefits Fully Utilised

With the LUT filed at the start of each financial year and refund claims tracked to credit, exporters supply without blocking funds in IGST and recover accumulated credit on schedule.

★

Tax Paid Under the Right Head

Getting IGST versus CGST and SGST right at the invoice stage spares you the painful cycle of paying the correct head again and pursuing a refund of the amount paid under the wrong one.

★

Fewer Departmental Notices

Consistent, reconciled returns give the department's matching systems nothing to flag. Clients who move to us after years of self-filing typically see scrutiny queries and mismatch notices fall away within a few filing cycles.

★

Smooth Scheme Transitions

Whether moving between composition and regular scheme, opting into QRMP, or crossing the e-invoice threshold at Rs.5 crore, transitions are planned in advance rather than discovered after a compliance breach.

★

No Interest Outflows at 18 Percent

Interest on delayed GST payment runs at 18 percent per annum, which is costlier than most working capital finance. Timely computation and payment through our calendar keeps that meter permanently at zero.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Keeping up with changesRate changes, portal updates and new thresholds such as the Rs.5 crore e-invoice limit are tracked by us and applied to your case proactively.Changes are discovered after the fact — often through a rejected filing, a blocked e-way bill or a departmental letter.
Goods in transitE-way bills generated correctly and matched to invoices, so consignments pass roadside inspections without detention or penalty.A defective or missing e-way bill can mean detention at a checkpoint, with penalties that dwarf the tax on the consignment.
Time costRoughly an hour a month to send data and approve drafts; the portal work, reconciliation and follow-up are ours.Hours every month lost to portal errors, JSON files, OTP failures and reworking figures — usually on the due date itself.
Input tax creditPurchase register matched against GSTR-2B each period, with defaulting suppliers chased so eligible credit is actually captured.Credit claimed from books alone; mismatches with GSTR-2B mean lost credit or excess claims that invite departmental queries.
Refund claimsRFD-01 filed with complete statements and annexures, tracked from ARN to bank credit, with any deficiency memo answered promptly.Incomplete claims bounce back as deficiency memos while the refund sits unclaimed for months and working capital stays blocked.
Due-date trackingA maintained compliance calendar with internal cut-offs days before the 11th and the 20th; we chase you for data, not the other way around.Deadlines remembered from memory or phone alarms; one busy week and the return slips past the due date.
Case Law & Notifications

What the Department and the Courts Have Said — relevant to Rajakilpakkam businesses

We track every notification, circular and judgment that changes a filing position, so your returns and replies reflect the current law.

Notification

Old and used vehicles moved to a uniform 18 per cent on margin

Notification No. 4/2025-Central Tax (Rate), dated 16 January 2025 (G.S.R. 59(E)) · 2025-01-16

The 55th GST Council recommended a single rate for the second-hand vehicle trade, and this notification raised the concessional rate on old and used motor vehicles, including electric vehicles, from twelve per cent to eighteen per cent. The tax continues to be charged only on the supplier's margin, and the levy still applies only where the seller is registered and is dealing in such vehicles; a sale by one individual to another remains outside GST altogether.

What it means for you: Used-car dealerships in Chennai charge eighteen per cent on the margin from 16 January 2025, while private person-to-person sales attract no GST.

AAR Ruling

Carbonated fruit drinks classified as carbonated beverages, not fruit juice drinks

Rich Dairy Products (India) Pvt Ltd - AAR Tamil Nadu (2019), upheld by AAAR Tamil Nadu, Order No. TN/AAAR/01/2020 · 2019

The Namakkal manufacturer made carbonated beverages containing fruit juice and sought classification under the fruit pulp or fruit juice based drinks entry taxed at 12 percent. The Authority held that once carbon dioxide is added the product is classifiable under heading 2202 10 as waters containing added carbon dioxide and flavouring, and not as fruit juice under heading 2009, so the higher rate applicable to that entry along with compensation cess applies. The Appellate Authority upheld that view.

Practical effect: Chennai beverage makers must check whether the drink is carbonated before applying the 12 percent fruit drink rate.

GST Council

Council settles the 5, 12, 18 and 28 per cent rate structure

4th GST Council Meeting, New Delhi — 3-4 November 2016 (Signed Minutes, Agenda Item 3) · 2016-11-03

Summing up a long debate over five-band and six-band options, the Chairperson proposed and the Council accepted a structure with one exempt category covering food grains and similar essentials, a lower rate of five per cent for goods consumed by vulnerable sections, standard rates of 12 and 18 per cent, and a higher slab of 28 per cent. A committee of officers was directed to fit individual goods and services into those slabs. Proposals for a 40 per cent slab were rejected.

What to do about it: Every rate dispute a Chennai business faces today traces back to this four-slab architecture and to the fitment exercise it launched.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

What is the process for LUT filing RFD-11?
The process runs in clear stages: Eligibility check; Details preparation; Online filing; Acknowledgement handover. A senior consultant reviews your file at each stage rather than passing it to a data-entry desk, and you receive a confirmation with the filed documents once it is complete. You always know which stage your work is at — we update you on WhatsApp instead of leaving you to follow up.
Can I get LUT filing RFD-11 done online without visiting the office?
Yes, the entire process can be handled online. You share scanned documents on WhatsApp or email, we prepare and file everything on the GST portal, and you receive the acknowledgement and filed copies digitally. Businesses in Rajakilpakkam regularly complete LUT filing with us without a single office visit. If a physical verification or personal hearing is required by the department, we guide you through it.
What happens to my export refund if the foreign client never pays me?
It depends on what you export. For export of goods, Rule 96B of the CGST Rules links refunds to realisation: if sale proceeds are not realised within the period allowed under FEMA, generally nine months, you must deposit the refund already received, proportionate to the unrealised amount, along with interest, within thirty days of the expiry of that period, and you can reclaim it by producing evidence of realisation within three months of receiving the money. For export of services, the consequence is even more direct: receipt of payment in convertible foreign exchange is itself a condition of export under Section 2(6) of the IGST Act, and refund claims must be backed by FIRC or BRC, so an unpaid service invoice never qualifies as a zero-rated export at all. Exporters in Rajakilpakkam should therefore track outstanding foreign receivables against FIRC dates every quarter, not just at year end.
I earn commission from a foreign company for arranging Indian buyers. Is this an export of services?
Usually not, and this surprises many agents. An intermediary is someone who arranges or facilitates a supply between two other persons, such as a commission agent or broker. Under Section 13(8)(b), the place of supply of intermediary services is the supplier's own location, so a commission agent in Rajakilpakkam serving a foreign principal has Tamil Nadu as the place of supply, the transaction fails the export test and 18 percent GST applies. A person supplying the main service directly to the foreign client on their own account is not an intermediary. The contract wording decides everything, so have it reviewed before claiming LUT benefits; call +91 - 9600 606 444.
Which is better for an exporter: LUT without tax or paying IGST and claiming refund?
Both routes are legal, and the better choice depends on cash flow and credit position. The LUT route means you never pay IGST on exports, and you separately claim refund of accumulated ITC, which suits service exporters and businesses with modest input credit. The IGST payment route blocks cash temporarily but refunds flow automatically through the customs system once GSTR-1 and the shipping bill match, which some goods exporters find faster. A business with large accumulated ITC often prefers paying IGST by utilising that credit. A short working comparing both routes usually settles the question.
What documents and details are needed to file LUT Form RFD-11?
The filing is fully online and light on paperwork. You need your GST portal login, the details of two independent witnesses with their names, occupations and addresses, and the authorised signatory who will sign with DSC or EVC. The form contains self-declarations that you will export within the prescribed time, abide by the GST law, and pay IGST with interest at 18 percent per annum if export conditions are not met. No bond or bank guarantee is required unless you have been prosecuted for evasion above Rs.2.5 crore. Filing typically takes under thirty minutes.
What is an LUT in GST and does my export business need one?
A Letter of Undertaking is a declaration filed in Form RFD-11 on the GST portal that allows you to export goods or services, or supply to SEZ units, without paying IGST upfront. Without an LUT, you must either pay IGST on every export and claim it back later, or furnish a bond with a bank guarantee. Any registered exporter who has not been prosecuted for tax evasion exceeding Rs.2.5 crore can file an LUT. If you invoice even one overseas client, filing the LUT at the start of the year saves significant working capital.
I earn through Upwork and Fiverr. How is this income treated under GST?
Work performed for foreign clients through these platforms can qualify as export of services, provided the recipient is outside India and payment reaches you in convertible foreign exchange. Obtain the FIRC or e-FIRC from your bank or payment provider such as Payoneer for every withdrawal, because that document proves the forex condition. Once registered, file an LUT so you need not charge IGST. Separately, the commission the platform deducts is an import of services on which a registered freelancer must pay 18 percent under reverse charge and can then claim it back as ITC. We set this up end to end for Rajakilpakkam freelancers.
Do partnership firms and private limited companies need different documents for GST?
Yes, the constitution documents differ. A partnership firm submits the partnership deed, the firm's PAN, and PAN, Aadhaar and photographs of all partners, with one partner named as authorised signatory through an authorisation letter. A private limited company submits its Certificate of Incorporation, company PAN, board resolution appointing the authorised signatory, and PAN, Aadhaar and photographs of directors; the company must sign the application with a DSC. Premises proof and bank details requirements are the same for all constitutions. An LLP follows the company pattern using its incorporation certificate and designated partner details.
What is the time limit for filing a GST refund application?
Form RFD-01 must be filed within two years from the relevant date defined in Section 54 of the CGST Act. For export of goods, the relevant date is the date the ship or aircraft leaves India; for export of services, it is the date of receipt of foreign exchange or the invoice date, whichever is later; for inverted duty structure, it is the due date of the return for the period in which the claim arises. Missing the two-year window makes the refund time-barred, so track pending claims carefully and file early.
Is there a deadline for declaring credit notes for a financial year?
Yes, and it is strict. A credit note relating to an invoice of a financial year must be declared in your returns by 30 November following the end of that financial year, or the date of filing the annual return, whichever is earlier. After this date, you can no longer reduce your output tax through a GST credit note for that year's invoices; any adjustment becomes purely commercial with no tax benefit. Sales returns in Rajakilpakkam businesses often surface months later, especially season-end returns from distributors, so sweep your pending returns and disputes each October and issue the credit notes in time.
My GST status shows suspended. What does that mean for my business in Rajakilpakkam?
Suspension is an intermediate state that occurs when you apply for cancellation, or when the officer initiates cancellation proceedings, commonly for return defaults or data mismatches. While suspended, you cannot make taxable supplies, meaning you should not issue tax invoices or charge GST, and e-way bill generation is blocked. The fix depends on the cause: if you triggered it by applying for cancellation, await the order; if the department triggered it, reply to the show cause notice in REG-18 within seven working days and clear pending returns. Acting within the notice window usually gets the suspension lifted; call +91 - 9600 606 444 if you have received one.
Is a pure labour contract for building a house exempt from GST?
Two exemptions exist for pure labour contracts, meaning contracts where the contractor supplies only labour and the owner buys all materials. First, construction, erection or installation of original works pertaining to a single residential unit, otherwise than as part of a residential complex, is exempt. Second, pure labour services under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for beneficiary-led individual house construction are exempt. Outside these, labour contracts are taxable at 18 percent. A mason team building one independent house in Rajakilpakkam on labour-only terms therefore charges no GST, but the same team working on an apartment project must.
Why is there GST on an under-construction flat but not on a ready-to-move one?
Construction of an apartment intended for sale is a supply of service only when any part of the consideration is received before the completion certificate is issued or before first occupation. Such under-construction sales attract 1 percent for affordable residential apartments and 5 percent for other residential apartments, both without input tax credit to the builder. Once the completion certificate is issued, sale of the building is neither a supply of goods nor of services under Schedule III, so a ready-to-move flat carries no GST at all, only stamp duty and registration charges. Timing of booking therefore changes the buyer's cost materially.
What GST rate applies to cars and two-wheelers now?
Small cars, meaning petrol cars up to 1200cc and diesel cars up to 1500cc with length not exceeding 4 metres, attract 18 percent GST, down sharply from the earlier 28 percent plus cess. Larger cars, SUVs above these specifications, attract the 40 percent rate, but with the compensation cess gone, the overall burden on most of them is still lower than before. Motorcycles up to 350cc are at 18 percent, while those above 350cc attract 40 percent. Electric vehicles continue at a concessional 5 percent. Dealers must also apply these rates to demo vehicle sales.
What are the common types of GST notices a business can receive?
The frequent ones are: REG-03 seeking clarification on a registration application; GSTR-3A for non-filing of returns; ASMT-10 pointing out discrepancies found on scrutiny of returns; DRC-01A intimating an ascertained tax liability before formal proceedings; DRC-01, the show cause notice under Section 73 or 74; ADT-01 intimating a departmental audit; REG-17 proposing cancellation of registration; RFD-08 proposing rejection of a refund claim; and summons under Section 70. Each has its own reply form and deadline, ranging from seven working days to thirty days, so identifying the notice type correctly is the first step in responding. When in doubt, call +91 - 9600 606 444.
How do I file Form PMT-09 to move money between heads in my cash ledger?
Log in and open Services, then Ledgers, then Electronic Cash Ledger, and select File GST PMT-09 for transfer of amount. The screen shows your balance under each major and minor head. Choose the transfer-from head and amount, choose the transfer-to head, add the details to the table, preview and file with DSC or EVC. The transfer reflects in the ledger immediately and an ARN is generated for your records. There is no limit on how often PMT-09 can be filed, and no government fee applies, so it is always the first fix for a wrong-head deposit.
We sponsored a trade event. Does reverse charge apply to the sponsorship amount?
If your business is a body corporate or partnership firm, sponsorship services received are notified under Section 9(3) and you must pay 18 percent GST under reverse charge, with ITC available since sponsorship is a marketing expense. One recent change matters: with effect from 16 January 2025, sponsorship services provided by a body corporate were moved to forward charge, so if the event organiser billing you is a company, it now charges GST on its invoice and RCM does not apply. Where the provider is a proprietor, trust or society, RCM continues. Verify the organiser's constitution before booking the entry, and raise a self-invoice where the provider is unregistered.
How much does LUT filing RFD-11 cost in Rajakilpakkam?
Our fee for LUT filing RFD-11 in Rajakilpakkam starts at Rs.999 and is quoted in full before we begin — there are no hidden charges added later. The fee covers professional work end to end: document review, preparation, filing and follow-up until completion. Government fees or portal charges, where applicable, are separate and always shown to you upfront. For an exact quote based on your turnover and business type, call +91 - 9600 606 444 and a consultant will confirm it on the call.
Do you provide lut filing under gst for small businesses and proprietorships in Rajakilpakkam?
Yes. A large share of our clients in Rajakilpakkam are proprietors, small traders, shop owners, freelancers and family businesses rather than large companies. Are there any hidden charges for LUT filing RFD-11?
No. The fee quoted before we start is the fee you pay. Government fees, portal charges or statutory late fees, where they apply, are separate and disclosed to you in advance with the exact amount. We issue a proper GST invoice for our professional fee.
