Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for NRS Road, Korattur

Businesses in Korattur looking for GST Notice Reply want two things: work done correctly and someone answerable when questions come. Korattur, between the Padi flyover and Ambattur on the MTH Road corridor, mixes tier-2 auto component and fabrication units feeding Lucas TVS and the Ambattur estate with dense retail around Korattur railway station and the lake. Vendor units here must reconcile OEM debit and credit notes against GSTR-2B every month, because a single unmatched note can block input tax credit for a quarter. We serve this belt — including Padi and Ambattur — with fixed fees quoted upfront, a written document checklist, and filings completed ahead of statutory due dates. Every acknowledgement is shared the day it is generated, and our support continues if the department raises any query on work we have filed.

GST jurisdiction for Korattur (PIN 600080): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai North Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Korattur before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for Hardware and Electrical Dealers in Korattur
A hardware and electrical counter stocks thousands of SKUs whose rates have moved: cement fell from 28 to 18 percent under the September 2025 rationalisation, while wires, switchgear, paints and sanitaryware sit at 18 percent. When a rate changes, Section 14 decides which rate applies based on the dates of supply, invoice and payment, so transition-period billing needs care. Dealer schemes and cash discounts from manufacturers arrive as credit notes that must be tracked against your input credit. A specialist maintains an item-wise HSN and rate master, applies Section 14 correctly during rate changes, and reconciles supplier credit notes so your GSTR-2B never overstates credit.
Yes, professional GST Notice Reply is available in Korattur starting at Rs.2,999. The process is handled end to end — documents over WhatsApp, senior-reviewed preparation, portal filing and same-day acknowledgement sharing.
Why Us

Why NRS Road, Korattur Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

✓

Support in Tamil and English

GST is confusing enough without a language barrier. Our team explains notices, tax positions and filing requirements in plain Tamil or English, whichever you and your staff in Korattur are comfortable with, and keeps written communication simple and jargon-free.

✓

Every Return Reviewed by a Senior Consultant

No filing leaves our desk on a junior's judgement alone. A senior GST practitioner reviews your figures, ITC claims and tax computation before submission, so errors are caught at our table and not by the department months later through a notice.

✓

Zero Tolerance for Late Fees and Interest

GSTR-3B late fees run at Rs.50 per day and interest at 18 percent per annum on unpaid tax. Our internal cut-offs sit days ahead of statutory due dates precisely so that our clients never hand the department a rupee they did not owe.

✓

Multi-GSTIN and Branch Coordination

Businesses with registrations in more than one State, or multiple branches under one PAN, face cross-charge, stock transfer and input service distribution questions that single-GSTIN firms never see. We keep all your registrations consistent with each other, not just compliant individually.

✓

Familiar with Chennai Jurisdictions and Officers' Expectations

We work with Chennai GST ranges and circles every week, including the jurisdiction covering Korattur. We know how local proper officers examine registrations, what supporting documents they routinely call for, and how to present a file so it moves without repeated queries.

✓

ITC Maximisation Within the Law

We match your purchase register against GSTR-2B every period, follow up on invoices your suppliers have not uploaded, and ensure every rupee of eligible input tax credit is claimed. Clients routinely recover credit they were silently losing under self-filing.

How It Works

Our Notice Reply Process

Notice study

We read the notice line by line, identify the section invoked, the periods covered, the exact information sought and the deadline for response.

Data reconciliation

The figures alleged in the notice are reconciled against your filed returns, GSTR-2B and books, so the reply is grounded in verifiable numbers rather than assertions.

Reply drafting

We draft a professional, point-wise reply addressing every allegation, attaching reconciliations, invoices and legal support, and share the draft with you for approval.

Filing and payment

The approved reply is filed on the portal within the deadline. Where a small genuine liability exists, we advise payment through DRC-03 to limit interest and penalty.

Closure tracking

We monitor the portal for the officer's response, attend to any further queries or hearing dates, and pursue the matter until a closure or order is received.

Checklist

Send these on WhatsApp (+91 - 9600 606 444) and we take it forward the same day.

A Professional Face on Every Invoice

Correct, complete tax invoices signal a well-run business to customers, vendors and banks alike, quietly strengthening your credibility in every transaction where your paperwork is seen.

★

Smooth Scheme Transitions

Whether moving between composition and regular scheme, opting into QRMP, or crossing the e-invoice threshold at Rs.5 crore, transitions are planned in advance rather than discovered after a compliance breach.

★

Confidence During Officer Interactions

When a query or verification comes, you respond through a professional who deals with the department regularly, in the department's own language and format, instead of facing an officer's letter alone.

Complete RFD-01 applications with proper statements and annexures move through the system faster and attract fewer deficiency memos, which means export and inverted-duty refunds reach your bank account sooner.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Registration and amendmentsQuery-resistant applications prepared correctly the first time, with supporting documents matched to what proper officers actually verify.Repeated clarification memos and resubmissions, with weeks lost because a rent agreement or premises photograph did not meet expectations.
Goods in transitE-way bills generated correctly and matched to invoices, so consignments pass roadside inspections without detention or penalty.A defective or missing e-way bill can mean detention at a checkpoint, with penalties that dwarf the tax on the consignment.
Risk of noticesGSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B reconciled before filing, removing the mismatches that trigger most scrutiny notices.Inconsistent figures across returns quietly build a mismatch history that surfaces later as ASMT-10 scrutiny or a demand notice.
Input tax creditPurchase register matched against GSTR-2B each period, with defaulting suppliers chased so eligible credit is actually captured.Credit claimed from books alone; mismatches with GSTR-2B mean lost credit or excess claims that invite departmental queries.
Portal credentials and dataLogins handled by a small engaged team under strict confidentiality, with credentials stored securely and never passed onward.Passwords circulating on chats with freelancers and part-timers, and no accountability for who has accessed your business data.
Annual return preparationMonthly reconciliations roll naturally into GSTR-9, filed comfortably before 31 December with figures already agreed through the year.Twelve months of unmatched data reconstructed in December, with differences discovered too late to be corrected cleanly.

GST Council

GST 2.0: four slabs collapsed into 5 and 18 per cent, effective 22 September 2025

56th GST Council Meeting, New Delhi — 3 September 2025 · 2025-09-03

The 56th GST Council meeting approved the biggest structural reform since 2017, replacing the 5, 12, 18 and 28 per cent slabs with a two-rate structure — a 5 per cent merit rate and an 18 per cent standard rate — plus a 40 per cent de-merit rate for a narrow set of luxury and sin goods. Most items at 12 per cent moved to 5 per cent and most at 28 per cent moved to 18 per cent. The new rates took effect from 22 September 2025 and remain in force.

Why this matters: Every Chennai business had to re-map product rates, reprice stock and update billing software from 22 September 2025 — rate mistakes since then invite scrutiny notices.

AAR Ruling

Canteen contractor serving food in office premises taxable at 5 percent

Goodwill Industrial Canteen - AAR Tamil Nadu, Order No. TN/09/AAR/2018, dated 30 August 2018 · 2018-08-30

The applicant prepared food and served it in the canteens of client companies at their premises. It sought the rate applicable to this arrangement. The Authority held that the supply of food and beverages on the premises of an industrial undertaking was taxable at 18 percent up to 26 July 2018 and at 5 percent from 27 July 2018, when the restaurant service entry was amended to cover canteens at offices and factories, the concessional rate being available without input tax credit.

How we apply it: Chennai canteen contractors should bill factory and office canteens at 5 percent and forgo input tax credit on their purchases.

Case Law

DGGI can summon and investigate even when State officers are already looking at the same taxpayer

Kuppan Gounder P.G. Natarajan v. Directorate General of GST Intelligence — Madras High Court (Division Bench), W.A. No. 2003 of 2021, decided 1 September 2021 (T.S. Sivagnanam and Sathi Kumar Sukumara Kurup JJ.) · 2021-09-01

The taxpayer argued that once the State GST authorities had taken up his case, Section 6(2)(b) barred the Central intelligence wing from issuing summons on the same subject. The Division Bench drew a distinction between a 'proceeding' such as assessment, adjudication or recovery, and an 'inquiry' under Section 70. The bar in Section 6(2)(b) applies only to overlapping proceedings on the same subject matter, and does not prevent an intelligence-based inquiry by the other authority. The summons was upheld.

What it means for you: A Chennai business already under State GST scrutiny cannot refuse a DGGI summons on cross-empowerment grounds, though it can still object if the Centre later starts a parallel adjudication on the identical issue and period.

Already Holding the Notice? Read It in About a Minute

Upload the PDF to our free GST Notice Analyser. It identifies which of 34 notice types you have, pulls out the DIN, GSTIN and tax period, reads the reply date printed on the notice and tells you plainly whether that date has already passed — along with the documents and reconciliations you will need. No payment, no account. If the notice does not state a date we can read, it says so rather than guessing one for you.

Analyse my notice — free WhatsApp it to a consultant

The analyser reports what your notice says and the statutory position for that form. It is not a substitute for a consultant reading your actual records, and a reply should be reviewed before you file it.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

How much does GST notice reply cost in Korattur?
Our fee for GST notice reply in Korattur starts at Rs.2,999 and is quoted in full before we begin — there are no hidden charges added later. The fee covers professional work end to end: document review, preparation, filing and follow-up until completion. Government fees or portal charges, where applicable, are separate and always shown to you upfront. For an exact quote based on your turnover and business type, call +91 - 9600 606 444 and a consultant will confirm it on the call.
How long does GST notice reply take in Korattur?
Draft reply in 3-5 working days. That assumes your documents are complete and there is no departmental query. We start the same day we receive your papers and tell you the realistic completion date upfront rather than an optimistic one. Where the GST portal or the officer causes delay — clarifications, physical verification or system issues — we track it daily and keep you informed on WhatsApp.
I missed the deadline to reply to a GST notice. What are my options now?
Act immediately, because delay narrows your options. If no order has been passed yet, file a belated reply with a condonation request explaining the delay and appear at the personal hearing; officers frequently take late replies on record before adjudicating. If an ex parte order has already been issued, you can file an appeal in Form APL-01 within three months of the order, paying the mandatory pre-deposit of 10 percent of the disputed tax. Many Korattur taxpayers discover notices only after the order stage because they never checked the Additional Notices tab, so a quick portal review is the first step.
Can my GST consultant attend a summons hearing on my behalf in Korattur?
Generally no. A summons under Section 70 requires the person named in it to appear personally, because the officer records a statement on oath, and an authorised representative cannot substitute for you unless the officer specifically permits it. What a consultant can do is equally important: prepare a factual brief, reconcile your returns with books, compile the documents demanded, accompany you to the office where allowed, and file written submissions afterwards. Businesses in Korattur that walk into a summons unprepared often make admissions that harden into demands later, so invest time in preparation before the appearance date.
How can I verify whether a GST notice I received is genuine or fake?
Every communication from a central GST officer must carry a Document Identification Number (DIN), which you can verify on the CBIC website. Notices issued through the GST portal carry a Reference Number that can be checked after logging in, and a genuine notice will also appear in your View Notices and Orders or View Additional Notices and Orders tab. As per CBIC instructions, a communication without a DIN is treated as invalid. Be cautious of demands received only on WhatsApp or email asking for payment to personal accounts. If in doubt, call +91 - 9600 606 444 and we will verify the document before you respond.
An ASMT-13 best judgment order was passed against me. Can it still be nullified by filing the return?
Yes, Section 62 contains a self-correcting mechanism. If you furnish the valid return within sixty days of service of the ASMT-13 assessment order, the order is deemed withdrawn automatically, though late fee and interest remain payable. The Finance Act 2023 added a further cushion effective 1 October 2023: even after the sixty days, you can file the return within an additional sixty days by paying an extra late fee of Rs.100 per day under the CGST Act, with a matching state levy, for each day beyond the first window, and the order still stands withdrawn. Beyond the full one hundred and twenty days, the estimated demand becomes enforceable, leaving appeal as the remedy.
Is everyone facing GST prosecution eligible to apply for compounding?
No. The statute excludes several categories. A person who has already been allowed to compound once in respect of the specified serious offences cannot compound again. Persons accused of issuing invoices without any supply of goods or services, the classic fake billing offence, were excluded from compounding altogether by the Finance Act 2023, and anyone convicted by a court under the GST law is also barred. Notably, the same 2023 amendments removed the earlier bar on compounding where the conduct was also an offence under another law, so that ground no longer disqualifies an applicant. Eligibility should be assessed before paying the underlying dues, since payment is a precondition but not a guarantee of compounding.
Can a person who never filed the returns still be penalised in a fake invoice case?
Yes. Section 122(1A) targets the person at whose instance fake transactions are conducted and who retains the benefit, even if the invoices were issued through some other entity. Where the offence involves supplying without an invoice, issuing invoices without supply, or availing or passing on credit from such invoices, the beneficiary faces a penalty equal to the tax evaded or the credit availed or passed on. This is how masterminds behind billing rackets are penalised alongside the front companies. If your GSTIN in Korattur has been misused by a third party, respond to any such notice with evidence immediately; call +91 - 9600 606 444.
Can the penalty in a Section 74 fraud case be reduced by paying early?
Yes, Section 74 has a built-in incentive to settle early. If you pay the tax and interest before the show cause notice is issued, the penalty is 15 percent of the tax. If you pay within thirty days of the notice, penalty is 25 percent and the proceedings conclude. Even after the order, paying within thirty days limits penalty to 50 percent instead of 100 percent. Payments are made in DRC-03 with the correct cause selected. Whether to settle or contest depends on the strength of the fraud allegation, so have the notice evaluated professionally before choosing; call +91 - 9600 606 444 for an assessment.
Can a compliance review actually prevent GST notices?
Largely, yes. Most notices arise from mismatches the portal detects automatically: GSTR-1 versus GSTR-3B tax differences, ITC claimed beyond GSTR-2B, e-way bill turnover gaps and unfiled returns. A periodic review catches these before the system does, so you can correct them through amendments in subsequent returns or a voluntary DRC-03 payment with interest, which under Section 73 attracts no penalty and no notice for the amount paid. What a review cannot prevent are genuine interpretation disputes, but even there it prepares your documentation in advance. ChennaiGST runs structured health checks for Korattur businesses before each annual return season; call +91 - 9600 606 444 to schedule one.
What does a GST health check cost and what will I receive at the end?
At ChennaiGST, health check engagements start at Rs.2,999 for a single-GSTIN business, with the fee scaled to turnover, transaction volume and the number of review periods. You receive a written report listing each gap found, the tax, interest and penalty exposure quantified in rupees, the statutory provision involved, and a prioritised action plan covering return amendments, DRC-03 payments and process fixes. We also walk your accountant through the corrections. Many Korattur clients recover the fee multiple times over through penalty avoided and missed ITC identified. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 to book a review before the next return cycle.
What is the penalty for running a business without GST registration?
A taxable person who is liable to register but fails to do so faces a penalty of Rs.10,000 or the amount of tax evaded, whichever is higher, under Section 122 of the CGST Act. Beyond the penalty, the department can demand the tax for the entire unregistered period with interest at 18 percent per annum, and you cannot recover that tax from customers you billed without GST. Goods moved without registration and e-way bills, required for consignments above Rs.50,000, also risk detention. If your turnover has crossed the threshold, registering within thirty days is far cheaper than regularising later.
Does compensation cess still apply on any goods?
For most goods, no. With the rate restructuring of 22 September 2025, compensation cess was discontinued on items such as cars, and the demerit burden was merged into the single 40 percent rate. The cess continues only on pan masala and specified tobacco products during the transition period while past compensation cess loan obligations are being discharged. A practical point for traders: balances of unutilised compensation cess credit cannot be cross-utilised against CGST, SGST or IGST liability, so businesses holding old cess credit should evaluate their position rather than assuming it will set off future tax.
My footwear shop sells chappals at Rs.300 and shoes at Rs.4,000 on the same bill. How do I invoice this?
One invoice can comfortably carry both rates. Each pair is tested against the Rs.2,500 sale-value threshold independently, so the chappals are billed at 5% and the Rs.4,000 shoes at 18%, as separate line items under their footwear HSN codes in Chapter 64. Your GSTR-1 HSN summary will then show turnover split across the two rates. Ensure the billing software picks the rate from the item price automatically rather than from a fixed product master, because the same article sold at different price points can legitimately fall in different slabs. A quick POS configuration check prevents months of wrong-rate billing; call +91 - 9600 606 444 to arrange one.
What details must a GST tax invoice compulsorily contain?
Rule 46 of the CGST Rules prescribes the mandatory contents: your name, address and GSTIN; a consecutive serial number not exceeding sixteen characters, unique for the financial year; the date of issue; the recipient's name, address and GSTIN if registered; the HSN or SAC code; description, quantity and unit; total and taxable value; any discount; the rate and amount of CGST, SGST or IGST shown separately; place of supply with the state name for inter-state supplies; a declaration where tax is payable on reverse charge; and signature or digital signature of the supplier. Missing fields make the invoice defective and can jeopardise your buyer's credit.
Are any goods exempt from GST when transported by a GTA?
Yes. Transport by a GTA of agricultural produce, milk, salt and foodgrains including flours and pulses, organic manure, newspapers and magazines registered with the Registrar of Newspapers, relief materials for victims of calamities, and defence or military equipment is exempt regardless of freight value. Note that the older exemptions for small consignments, Rs.1,500 for a full truckload and Rs.750 for a single consignee, were withdrawn with effect from 18 July 2022, so ordinary cargo enjoys no value-based relief now. Transporters serving agricultural markets should describe the produce accurately on the consignment note to support the exemption.
Is the late fee charged on delayed returns the same thing as a penalty?
No, they are legally distinct. Late fee under Section 47 is an automatic, fixed daily charge for filing a return after its due date, computed by the portal and payable in cash before the return is accepted; no officer discretion or notice is involved. Penalty, under provisions such as Sections 122 to 125, is imposed through adjudication for specified offences, requires a show cause notice and hearing, and can be contested or reduced. Interest under Section 50 is a third, separate levy compensating for delayed payment. A delayed return with tax due can therefore attract all three simultaneously, each on its own footing.
Which purchases commonly attract GST under reverse charge for a regular business?
Under Section 9(3), the recipient pays tax on notified supplies. The entries a typical business in Korattur encounters are: goods transport agency services, services of advocates and arbitral tribunals, sponsorship provided to companies and partnership firms, services of directors, security services from non-corporate providers, renting of passenger motor vehicles from non-corporate operators charging five percent, import of services, and renting of property from unregistered landlords in notified cases. Each month, scan your expense ledger for these heads, pay the tax in cash through GSTR-3B, and claim it back as ITC where eligible. Missed RCM is among the top audit findings; call +91 - 9600 606 444 for an RCM exposure review.
What documents are required for GST notice reply in Korattur?
For GST notice reply you will generally need: Copy of the notice received, with its reference number and date, GST portal login credentials, GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B filed copies for the periods in question, GSTR-2A and GSTR-2B data for the relevant periods, Sales and purchase registers for the periods covered. The exact list depends on your constitution — proprietorship, partnership, LLP or company — and on the specifics of your case. Send what you have on WhatsApp to +91 - 9600 606 444 and we will confirm within the same working day exactly what else is needed, so nothing is rejected later for a missing paper.
Do you provide GST notice reply for businesses on NRS Road?
Yes. We serve businesses on and around NRS Road in Korattur — shops, offices, godowns and home-run businesses alike. Document pickup can be arranged at your premises, or you can send everything on WhatsApp and complete notice reply without leaving your counter. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 and mention your location; a consultant will confirm the fee and timeline immediately.
What is the process for GST notice reply?
The process runs in clear stages: Notice study; Data reconciliation; Reply drafting; Filing and payment. A senior consultant reviews your file at each stage rather than passing it to a data-entry desk, and you receive a confirmation with the filed documents once it is complete. You always know which stage your work is at — we update you on WhatsApp instead of leaving you to follow up.
