Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for Mannivakkam Main Road, Mudichur

Every locality in Chennai has its own commercial rhythm, and Mudichur is no exception. Mudichur's construction boom along the Tambaram - Mudichur - Sriperumbudur Road and the Outer Ring Road has filled former paddy fields with apartment projects, plot promotions, building material yards, hardware and paint shops, water-can suppliers and packers-and-movers out to Varadharajapuram and Mannivakkam. Construction is the GST epicentre here: rate confusion on works contracts, the eighty per cent registered-purchase rule for promoters, and flood-season filing relief. Our practice has shaped its GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B Monthly Filing work around exactly these realities, serving clients in Mudichur as well as Perungalathur and Varadharajapuram. Registrations, returns, refunds and notice replies are handled by one accountable team, with fees fixed in writing before work begins and every filing reconciled against portal data before it is submitted.

GST jurisdiction for Mudichur (PIN 600048): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai Outer Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Mudichur before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for Professional Services Firms in Mudichur
Professional firms bill at 18 percent, but the mechanics differ by profession: services of advocates to business entities are taxed in the client's hands under reverse charge, while chartered accountants, company secretaries and architects charge tax on their own invoices. Fees received in advance are taxable on receipt, and retainers must be invoiced within the time limits of Section 31(2). Amounts recovered from clients as a pure agent, such as government fees paid on their behalf, stay outside taxable value only if every condition of Rule 33 is met and documented. A specialist sets up retainer invoicing, pure agent documentation and branch cross-charges correctly; call +91 - 9600 606 444 to discuss your firm.
A GST-focused Chennai practice provides GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B Monthly Filing in Mudichur with senior review, reconciliation against portal data and written fee quotes from Rs.749, rather than template filings from anonymous online portals.
Why Us

Why Mannivakkam Main Road, Mudichur Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

Strict Data Confidentiality

Your sales figures, supplier lists and login credentials are handled only by our engaged team, stored securely and never shared with any third party. Many of our clients in Mudichur compete with each other; complete confidentiality is a condition of our work.

Every Return Reviewed by a Senior Consultant

No filing leaves our desk on a junior's judgement alone. A senior GST practitioner reviews your figures, ITC claims and tax computation before submission, so errors are caught at our table and not by the department months later through a notice.

ITC Maximisation Within the Law

We match your purchase register against GSTR-2B every period, follow up on invoices your suppliers have not uploaded, and ensure every rupee of eligible input tax credit is claimed. Clients routinely recover credit they were silently losing under self-filing.

Handholding for First-Time Registrants

A new GSTIN comes with obligations nobody explains at approval — the invoice series rules, displaying the registration certificate and GSTIN at your premises, and the first return cycle. We walk new registrants in Mudichur through each of these so month one starts correctly.

Same-Day Response, Every Working Day

Send your query on call or WhatsApp and you hear back the same working day, usually within a few hours. When a due date is close or a notice has landed, waiting two days for a reply is simply not acceptable, and we know it.

Clean Exits When a Business Closes

Winding up attracts its own GST obligations — the cancellation application, reversal of credit on closing stock, and the final return in GSTR-10 within three months. We close registrations properly so a business you shut in Mudichur never writes back to you as a demand years later.

How It Works

Our Monthly Returns Process

Monthly data collection

At month end we remind you and collect sales invoices, purchase bills and credit notes in whatever format you maintain, including Excel, Tally exports or scanned copies.

GSTR-1 preparation and filing

We prepare invoice-wise outward supply details, validate GSTINs of your B2B customers, summarise B2C supplies and file GSTR-1 on the portal before the 11th.

ITC reconciliation with GSTR-2B

We download your auto-drafted GSTR-2B, match it against purchase records, and claim only eligible input tax credit so that mismatches do not trigger scrutiny notices later.

Tax computation and confirmation

We compute net tax payable after ITC set-off, share the working with you for approval, and generate the payment challan for any cash liability.

GSTR-3B filing and reporting

After your confirmation and tax payment, we file GSTR-3B before the 20th and send you both filed acknowledgements along with a one-page summary of the month.

Outcomes

What You Get

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

No Interest Outflows at 18 Percent

Interest on delayed GST payment runs at 18 percent per annum, which is costlier than most working capital finance. Timely computation and payment through our calendar keeps that meter permanently at zero.

Export Benefits Fully Utilised

With the LUT filed at the start of each financial year and refund claims tracked to credit, exporters supply without blocking funds in IGST and recover accumulated credit on schedule.

Fewer Errors at the Billing Counter

Your billing staff are guided on invoice fields, rates and series discipline, so mistakes are prevented where they originate — at the counter — instead of being repaired later in the returns.

Annual Returns Without the Year-End Scramble

Because monthly data is reconciled as it happens, GSTR-9 preparation before the 31 December due date becomes a review exercise rather than a painful reconstruction of twelve untidy months.

Compliance That Continues When You Travel

Illness, travel or a family function no longer threatens a deadline. With a standing external process holding your calendar and data trail, filings proceed on schedule whether or not you are at your desk.

Smooth Scheme Transitions

Whether moving between composition and regular scheme, opting into QRMP, or crossing the e-invoice threshold at Rs.5 crore, transitions are planned in advance rather than discovered after a compliance breach.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Supplier defaultsSuppliers who stop uploading invoices are identified within the period and pursued before their default becomes your blocked credit.Missing supplier invoices surface only when credit is denied, by which time recovering the amount from the vendor is difficult.
Goods in transitE-way bills generated correctly and matched to invoices, so consignments pass roadside inspections without detention or penalty.A defective or missing e-way bill can mean detention at a checkpoint, with penalties that dwarf the tax on the consignment.
Registration and amendmentsQuery-resistant applications prepared correctly the first time, with supporting documents matched to what proper officers actually verify.Repeated clarification memos and resubmissions, with weeks lost because a rent agreement or premises photograph did not meet expectations.
When a notice arrivesA professional drafts the reply in the department's format and files it within the statutory window, such as thirty days for ASMT-11.You face departmental language alone, and a missed reply deadline can convert a simple query into a demand with penalty.
Portal credentials and dataLogins handled by a small engaged team under strict confidentiality, with credentials stored securely and never passed onward.Passwords circulating on chats with freelancers and part-timers, and no accountability for who has accessed your business data.
Refund claimsRFD-01 filed with complete statements and annexures, tracked from ARN to bank credit, with any deficiency memo answered promptly.Incomplete claims bounce back as deficiency memos while the refund sits unclaimed for months and working capital stays blocked.

Law Update

GST Rulings and Notifications That Affect You — relevant to Mudichur businesses

GST law moves through notifications, circulars and court decisions. These are the ones changing how filings are prepared right now.

AAR Ruling

No second levy of IGST when goods leave a Free Trade Warehousing Zone

The Bank of Nova Scotia - AAR Tamil Nadu, Order No. TN/23/AAR/2018, dated 31 December 2018 · 2018-12-31

The bank imported goods and stored them in a Free Trade Warehousing Zone before they were cleared. It asked whether integrated tax was payable again when the goods were removed from the zone to the domestic tariff area, over and above the tax collected at the time of customs clearance. The Authority, following Circular No. 3/1/2018-IGST dated 25 May 2018, held that the applicant is not liable to pay IGST at the time of removal, the levy arising once at clearance for home consumption.

Practical effect: Chennai importers using FTWZ facilities pay IGST once at clearance and should resist any demand for a second levy on removal.

Portal Advisory

New portal statement tracks ITC reversed and reclaimed

GSTN Advisory dated 31 August 2023 — Electronic Credit Reversal and Re-claimed Statement · 2023-08-31

GSTN introduced the Electronic Credit Reversal and Re-claimed Statement on the portal to track credit reversed in Table 4B(2) of GSTR-3B and later reclaimed in Tables 4D(1) and 4A(5). It applied from the August 2023 return for monthly filers and from the July to September 2023 quarter for quarterly filers. The cumulative opening balance of reversals awaiting reclaim had to be reported by 30 November 2023, with up to three amendments allowed until 31 December 2023. The portal now warns when reclaimed credit exceeds the available balance.

How we apply it: Maintain a running register of credit reversed and reclaimed, because the portal flags excess reclaims and the data feeds departmental scrutiny.

Circular

Electric vehicles without batteries and other rate clarifications

Circular No. 179/11/2022-GST, dated 3 August 2022 · 2022-08-03

Implementing the 47th GST Council recommendations, CBIC clarified that an electrically operated vehicle attracts the concessional five per cent rate whether or not it is fitted with a battery pack at the time of supply, ending a dispute that had hurt manufacturers using battery-swapping models. The circular also addressed the classification of fly ash bricks and blocks, by-products of milling of pulses and dal such as chilka and khanda, treated sewage water, and nicotine polacrilex gum.

What to do about it: Electric vehicle sellers should not be forced into eighteen per cent merely because the battery is billed or leased separately, and this circular is the answer to such a notice.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

Are there any hidden charges for GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B monthly filing?
No. The fee quoted before we start is the fee you pay. Government fees, portal charges or statutory late fees, where they apply, are separate and disclosed to you in advance with the exact amount. We issue a proper GST invoice for our professional fee. If the scope of work changes — for example, an unexpected notice or additional periods — we tell you the revised fee before doing anything further.
How much does GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B monthly filing cost in Mudichur?
Our fee for GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B monthly filing in Mudichur starts at Rs.749/month and is quoted in full before we begin — there are no hidden charges added later. The fee covers professional work end to end: document review, preparation, filing and follow-up until completion. Government fees or portal charges, where applicable, are separate and always shown to you upfront. For an exact quote based on your turnover and business type, call +91 - 9600 606 444 and a consultant will confirm it on the call.
Do I have to pay GST on my Adobe, Canva or AWS subscriptions billed from abroad?
If you are GST-registered and the foreign supplier has not charged Indian GST, yes. Services received from a supplier located outside India for business purposes are an import of services, taxable in your hands under reverse charge at 18 percent. You must pay the tax in cash through GSTR-3B, raise a self-invoice, and can simultaneously claim the same amount as input tax credit if the expense is otherwise eligible, making it cash-flow neutral for most businesses. Unregistered persons do not pay reverse charge; instead, the foreign provider may charge GST under the OIDAR rules. Many Mudichur agencies miss these entries during scrutiny.
How does a GTA opt for forward charge, and by when must it be done?
The option is exercised by filing the Annexure V declaration on the GST portal. For an existing GTA, the window for a financial year runs from 1 January to 31 March of the preceding financial year, so the choice for the coming year must be locked in by 31 March. A newly registered GTA must file the declaration within forty-five days of applying for registration or one month from the date of obtaining registration, whichever is later. Once exercised, the option continues for future years automatically unless the GTA files Annexure VI to revert to reverse charge. Missing the window means remaining under the default reverse charge mechanism for the whole year.
Our Mudichur factory hires lorries through a transport agency. Who pays the GST?
Under the reverse charge entry, when a GTA that has not opted for forward charge provides service to specified recipients, the recipient pays the 5 percent tax. Specified recipients include factories, registered persons, body corporates, partnership firms including AOPs, co-operative societies and casual taxable persons. Your factory therefore pays 5 percent in cash through GSTR-3B, reports it in the reverse charge tables, and claims the same amount as input tax credit since freight is a business expense. Confirm from the transporter's invoice or declaration whether it has opted for forward charge, because paying RCM on an FCM invoice creates double taxation. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 if your freight entries need a review.
My shop was closed for a month. Can I skip filing GST returns for that period?
No. Once you hold an active GSTIN, returns must be filed for every tax period regardless of business activity. If there were no sales and no purchases, you must file nil GSTR-1 and nil GSTR-3B for that month. Skipping creates a break in the sequential filing chain, blocks future returns, accumulates late fees and can eventually lead to suspension of registration. Nil returns take only minutes and can even be filed by SMS. If your business in Mudichur has periods of inactivity, ask us about our low-cost nil filing plan.
What is the due date for GSTR-3B in Tamil Nadu?
For monthly filers, GSTR-3B is due on the 20th of the following month. If you are registered in Tamil Nadu and have opted for the QRMP scheme, your quarterly GSTR-3B is due on the 22nd of the month following the quarter. GSTR-3B is the summary return through which you actually pay tax, so missing it attracts a late fee of Rs.50 per day (Rs.20 for nil returns) plus interest at 18 percent per annum on tax paid late.
I made a mistake in GSTR-3B. Can I revise it?
No, GSTR-3B cannot be revised once filed. The GST law allows corrections only through adjustments in the returns of subsequent tax periods. If you under-reported tax, pay the difference with 18 percent interest in the next GSTR-3B or through Form DRC-03. If you over-reported, adjust it in a later month within the time limits allowed. Errors in GSTR-1 can be amended in the following period's return. Because corrections have deadlines, it is best to have the error reviewed quickly; our team in Mudichur can assess it the same day.
Our company spends on CSR activities. Is the GST paid on those purchases creditable?
Not any more. Section 17(5)(fa), inserted with effect from 1 October 2023, specifically blocks input tax credit on goods or services used for corporate social responsibility activities under Section 135 of the Companies Act. Before this date the position was contested, with advance rulings going both ways, so credits availed for earlier periods may still be defensible on merits if questioned. For current periods, GST on CSR purchases, whether school furniture donated or medical supplies distributed, is a cost. Companies in Mudichur should route CSR procurement through a separate expense code so their monthly reconciliation automatically excludes these invoices from the ITC claim.
How does ITC reversal work for capital goods used for both taxable and exempt supplies?
Rule 43 treats every commonly used capital good as having a useful life of five years, so its total credit is spread over sixty months for reversal purposes. Each month, one-sixtieth of the credit on all common capital goods is attributed to the period, and the exempt proportion, computed on the exempt-to-total turnover ratio, is reversed in GSTR-3B with applicable interest treatment. Capital goods used exclusively for taxable supplies need no reversal, while those used exclusively for exempt supplies get no credit at all. Keep a capital goods register with commissioning dates, because the sixty-month clock and any change in use must be tracked asset-wise.
We distribute free samples and run buy-one-get-one offers. How is ITC treated on these?
The two are treated very differently. Goods disposed of as gifts or free samples attract the block under Section 17(5)(h), so ITC on inputs used for genuinely free samples must be reversed. However, CBIC Circular 92/11/2019 clarifies that buy-one-get-one offers are not free supplies; they are effectively two goods sold for a single price, tax is charged on that price, and full ITC remains available. Trade discounts recorded in the invoice also do not disturb credit. Pharmaceutical distributors and FMCG dealers in Mudichur should therefore document promotional schemes carefully, because the same physical giveaway can be creditable or blocked depending on how the offer is structured.
Which daily-use grocery items became cheaper under GST from September 2025?
The 56th GST Council's rationalisation, effective 22 September 2025, moved a large basket of daily essentials from 12% or 18% down to 5%, including butter, ghee, cheese, namkeens, sauces, pasta, chocolates, biscuits, cornflakes, hair oil, shampoo, soaps and toothpaste. UHT milk, pre-packaged paneer and all Indian breads such as roti, chapati and paratha became nil rated. Aerated and caffeinated beverages, by contrast, went to the 40% demerit rate. Grocery and supermarket billing masters needed a near-complete refresh from that date, and old stock is simply sold at the new rate applicable on the date of supply.
My shop's landlord in Mudichur is not GST registered. Do I pay GST on the rent myself?
Yes, if you are registered. With effect from 10 October 2024, renting of any immovable property other than a residential dwelling by an unregistered person to a registered person was notified under reverse charge, so a registered tenant must pay 18 percent on the rent in cash through GSTR-3B and can claim ITC subject to the usual conditions. Composition taxpayers were subsequently excluded from this entry with effect from 16 January 2025. You must also raise a monthly self-invoice since the landlord is unregistered. Many shop and godown tenants in Mudichur remain unaware of this recent entry; call +91 - 9600 606 444 to regularise past months.
How much time do I get to raise an invoice for services?
A tax invoice for services must be issued within thirty days from the date of supply of the service. For banks, insurers, financial institutions and NBFCs, the limit is forty-five days. Where services are supplied continuously, the invoice follows the contract: if the due date of payment is ascertainable, invoice on or before that date; if not, invoice when payment is received; and if payment is linked to completion of an event or milestone, invoice on or before its completion. Consultants and agencies that bill quarterly should check their contracts against these rules, since late invoicing defers nothing legally.
I am a composition dealer. Which returns apply to me and when?
Composition taxpayers do not file GSTR-1 or GSTR-3B. Instead, you pay tax every quarter through statement CMP-08, due by the 18th of the month following the quarter, and file one annual return, GSTR-4, by 30 June following the financial year. The scheme is available for turnover up to Rs.1.5 crore for goods, with a separate 6 percent scheme for service providers up to Rs.50 lakh. Missing CMP-08 for consecutive quarters can block your e-way bill facility. Our composition package covers all four CMP-08 filings and the annual GSTR-4 at Rs.749 per year.
What are the most common mistakes Chennai businesses make with GST refunds and ITC?
The recurring ones we see across Mudichur are: missing the two-year limitation for RFD-01, mismatches between GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and shipping bill data that stall export refunds, forgetting the April LUT renewal, claiming ITC on invoices absent from GSTR-2B, ignoring blocked credits under Section 17(5), breaching the 180-day supplier payment rule, and treating deficiency memos as rejections instead of refiling within limitation. Each of these is preventable with a simple monthly checklist and a year-end reconciliation. ChennaiGST builds exactly this discipline into its retainer engagements; call +91 - 9600 606 444 if any of these sounds familiar.
We pay for foreign software subscriptions and overseas consultants. Is GST payable in India?
Yes. Import of services, meaning services from a supplier located outside India received by a person in India for business, attracts IGST under reverse charge in the recipient's hands, payable in cash and claimable as ITC if eligible. This catches cloud software, foreign professional fees, overseas advertising and licence fees. Two nuances matter: services from a related foreign party, such as your parent company, are taxable even without consideration under Schedule I, and OIDAR services supplied to unregistered consumers are taxed in the foreign supplier's own hands, not under RCM. Startups and IT firms in Mudichur paying by card frequently miss these entries; reconcile foreign remittances against RCM paid annually.
What is the default place of supply rule for services within India?
Section 12(2) of the IGST Act sets the general rule for domestic services: if the recipient is registered, the place of supply is the recipient's location; if unregistered, it is the recipient's address on your records, and failing that, the supplier's own location. So a consultant in Mudichur advising a registered company in Hyderabad charges IGST, while the same advice to a local walk-in individual attracts CGST plus SGST. This default yields only to the specific rules for immovable property, events, transportation, and a few other categories, so always check whether a specific rule captures your service before falling back on the general one.
What is the process for GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B monthly filing?
The process runs in clear stages: Monthly data collection; GSTR-1 preparation and filing; ITC reconciliation with GSTR-2B; Tax computation and confirmation. A senior consultant reviews your file at each stage rather than passing it to a data-entry desk, and you receive a confirmation with the filed documents once it is complete. You always know which stage your work is at — we update you on WhatsApp instead of leaving you to follow up.
