Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for 2nd Main Road, Pozhichalur

Pozhichalur sits behind Pammal on the Cowl Bazaar road network, a temple-and-workshop pocket where provision stores, hardware shops, tailoring and leather job-work units, flat promoters and paying-guest hostels for airport staff share space along Dr. Ambedkar Road, Kalaignar Road and the Anna Nagar - Pozhichalur Link Road. Small traders drift in and out of the forty lakh threshold, and job workers face persistent classification and input tax credit reversal queries. We have supported businesses of exactly this profile with GST Notice Reply across Pozhichalur for years, along with clients from Pammal and Anakaputhur. The engagement is simple: one point of contact, a clear fee, documents over WhatsApp or in person at our Chennai office, and senior review before anything is submitted on the portal. What you get in return is clean filings, archived records and far fewer reasons for the department to write to you.

GST jurisdiction for Pozhichalur (PIN 600074): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai Outer Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Pozhichalur before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for Property Owners Earning Rent in Pozhichalur
Rental income has become a reverse charge maze. Commercial rent attracts 18 percent once your total receipts cross the Rs.20 lakh service threshold, counting rent from every property in Pozhichalur and elsewhere together. A residential dwelling let to an individual for personal living remains exempt, but the same flat rented to a GST-registered business makes the tenant pay tax under reverse charge under Notification 05/2022. Since 10 October 2024, even commercial property rented out by an unregistered landlord to a registered tenant shifts the liability to the tenant. A specialist maps each tenancy to the correct treatment and drafts rent invoices and agreements accordingly.
The simplest way to complete GST Notice Reply in Pozhichalur is through a local GST practice: one call starts the process, documents move over WhatsApp, and fees begin at Rs.2,999.
Why Us

Why 2nd Main Road, Pozhichalur Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

Job Work Movements Tracked Through ITC-04

Goods sent to job workers must move on delivery challans, return within the statutory period, and be reported in ITC-04. We track every outward and return leg for manufacturing clients in Pozhichalur, so inputs sent out for processing never quietly convert into a deemed supply carrying tax and interest.

Free Health Check of Your Past Filings

Every new client receives a review of their recent returns before we file anything — unclaimed credit, GSTR-1 versus GSTR-3B drift, and exposures worth correcting quietly. Businesses in Pozhichalur often discover in this first review exactly why their previous arrangement was costing them money.

Same-Day Response, Every Working Day

Send your query on call or WhatsApp and you hear back the same working day, usually within a few hours. When a due date is close or a notice has landed, waiting two days for a reply is simply not acceptable, and we know it.

No Handing Off to Untrained Juniors

Your work is executed by trained GST staff working under direct senior supervision, not passed to interns learning on your file. The person preparing your return understands reverse charge, blocked credits and place of supply, because getting these wrong costs you money.

Fast, Clean Registrations and Amendments

New GSTIN applications, core field amendments through REG-14, additional places of business — we prepare complete, query-resistant applications the first time. Clean paperwork is the difference between smooth approval and weeks lost answering clarification memos from the department.

Cancelled GSTIN? We Handle Revocation Too

A registration cancelled for non-filing is not the end of the road. We bring the pending returns up to date, clear the dues and file the revocation application in REG-21 within the permitted window, restoring suspended and cancelled GSTINs to active status.

How It Works

Our Notice Reply Process

Notice study

We read the notice line by line, identify the section invoked, the periods covered, the exact information sought and the deadline for response.

Data reconciliation

The figures alleged in the notice are reconciled against your filed returns, GSTR-2B and books, so the reply is grounded in verifiable numbers rather than assertions.

Reply drafting

We draft a professional, point-wise reply addressing every allegation, attaching reconciliations, invoices and legal support, and share the draft with you for approval.

Filing and payment

The approved reply is filed on the portal within the deadline. Where a small genuine liability exists, we advise payment through DRC-03 to limit interest and penalty.

Closure tracking

We monitor the portal for the officer's response, attend to any further queries or hearing dates, and pursue the matter until a closure or order is received.

Outcomes

What You Get

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

Books and Returns That Agree at Year End

Because turnover in your GST returns is kept aligned with your accounts through the year, income tax filing and statutory audit proceed without the GST-versus-books mismatch queries that now surface routinely through data matching.

Audit-Ready Records at All Times

Filed returns, challans, reconciliations and working papers are archived in order from day one. If an audit or departmental verification comes, your file is ready the same week, not assembled in a panic.

No Interest Outflows at 18 Percent

Interest on delayed GST payment runs at 18 percent per annum, which is costlier than most working capital finance. Timely computation and payment through our calendar keeps that meter permanently at zero.

Every Eligible Rupee of ITC Claimed

Systematic GSTR-2B matching and supplier follow-up mean input tax credit that was leaking away under self-filing is captured each month, directly reducing the cash you pay out with every GSTR-3B.

Reduced Dependence on One Employee

When GST knowledge lives inside a single staff member, their resignation becomes a compliance crisis. With our firm as the standing process, your filings continue uninterrupted regardless of internal staff changes.

Correct Tax the First Time

Rates, reverse charge, place of supply and blocked credits are applied correctly at the preparation stage, so you neither overpay tax you do not owe nor underpay and invite demands with penalty later.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
When a notice arrivesA professional drafts the reply in the department's format and files it within the statutory window, such as thirty days for ASMT-11.You face departmental language alone, and a missed reply deadline can convert a simple query into a demand with penalty.
Refund claimsRFD-01 filed with complete statements and annexures, tracked from ARN to bank credit, with any deficiency memo answered promptly.Incomplete claims bounce back as deficiency memos while the refund sits unclaimed for months and working capital stays blocked.
Record keepingEvery return, challan, acknowledgement and working paper archived in an organised folder, retrievable in minutes years later.Documents scattered across email, downloads and old phones; assembling records for a bank or an audit takes days.
Goods in transitE-way bills generated correctly and matched to invoices, so consignments pass roadside inspections without detention or penalty.A defective or missing e-way bill can mean detention at a checkpoint, with penalties that dwarf the tax on the consignment.
Portal credentials and dataLogins handled by a small engaged team under strict confidentiality, with credentials stored securely and never passed onward.Passwords circulating on chats with freelancers and part-timers, and no accountability for who has accessed your business data.
Late fees and interestFilings go in ahead of statutory dates, so the Rs.50-per-day late fee and 18 percent interest never arise.Late fees accumulate silently every delayed day, and interest on unpaid tax runs at 18 percent per annum.

Circular

Which GST deadlines the Supreme Court's Covid limitation order actually extended

Circular No. 157/13/2021-GST dated 20 July 2021 · 2021-07-20

CBIC explained the effect of the Supreme Court's order of 27 April 2021 extending limitation. The extension applies where an appeal has to be filed against a quasi-judicial order before the Joint or Additional Commissioner (Appeals), the Commissioner (Appeals), the Appellate Authority for Advance Ruling, the Tribunal or the courts, or where a revision or rectification of an order has to be sought. It does not apply to proceedings a taxpayer has to initiate or compliances he has to make, which remain governed only by the statute and by the notifications issued under section 168A of the CGST Act, nor to the quasi-judicial work of officers such as deciding refund claims, revocation applications and demand adjudications, which may continue.

Why this matters: A Chennai taxpayer who missed an appeal deadline during the pandemic waves can rely on this relief, but return filing dates were never covered by it.

AAR Ruling

Association maintenance taxed on the whole amount once the limit is crossed

TVH Lumbini Square Owners Association - AAR Tamil Nadu, Order No. 25/ARA/2019, dated 21 June 2019 · 2019-06-21

A residents welfare association collected monthly maintenance contributions from its members. The Authority held that where the contribution per member exceeds Rs. 7,500 a month, GST is payable on the entire contribution and not merely on the amount above Rs. 7,500. The Madras High Court subsequently held, in Greenwood Owners Association, that only the excess over Rs. 7,500 is taxable, and associations now follow that judicial position.

What it means for you: Chennai apartment associations should apply the High Court position carefully and keep member-wise workings ready for departmental scrutiny.

Portal Advisory

Officers must give written grounds of arrest before arresting under GST

CBIC Instruction No. 01/2025-GST · 2025-01-13

Following High Court rulings on the constitutional requirement to inform an arrested person of the grounds of arrest, CBIC revised its arrest guidelines. The grounds of arrest must be explained and furnished in writing to the person as an annexure to the arrest memo, and written acknowledgement of receipt must be obtained. This supplements the earlier requirement that arrest be based on reasons to believe recorded in writing, with approval of the Commissioner, and only for offences crossing the prescribed thresholds.

How we apply it: If a summons escalates towards arrest, insist on written grounds of arrest, as their absence has repeatedly led courts to set aside GST arrests.

Already Holding the Notice? Read It in About a Minute

Upload the PDF to our free GST Notice Analyser. It identifies which of 34 notice types you have, pulls out the DIN, GSTIN and tax period, reads the reply date printed on the notice and tells you plainly whether that date has already passed — along with the documents and reconciliations you will need. No payment, no account. If the notice does not state a date we can read, it says so rather than guessing one for you.

Analyse my notice — free WhatsApp it to a consultant

The analyser reports what your notice says and the statutory position for that form. It is not a substitute for a consultant reading your actual records, and a reply should be reviewed before you file it.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

Do you provide gst notice reply for small businesses and proprietorships in Pozhichalur?
Yes. A large share of our clients in Pozhichalur are proprietors, small traders, shop owners, freelancers and family businesses rather than large companies. The fee of Rs.2,999 and the process are the same regardless of size, and we explain the compliance position in plain language — in Tamil or English — so you understand what is being filed on your behalf and why.
Are there any hidden charges for GST notice reply?
No. The fee quoted before we start is the fee you pay. Government fees, portal charges or statutory late fees, where they apply, are separate and disclosed to you in advance with the exact amount. We issue a proper GST invoice for our professional fee. If the scope of work changes — for example, an unexpected notice or additional periods — we tell you the revised fee before doing anything further.
An ASMT-13 best judgment order was passed against me. Can it still be nullified by filing the return?
Yes, Section 62 contains a self-correcting mechanism. If you furnish the valid return within sixty days of service of the ASMT-13 assessment order, the order is deemed withdrawn automatically, though late fee and interest remain payable. The Finance Act 2023 added a further cushion effective 1 October 2023: even after the sixty days, you can file the return within an additional sixty days by paying an extra late fee of Rs.100 per day under the CGST Act, with a matching state levy, for each day beyond the first window, and the order still stands withdrawn. Beyond the full one hundred and twenty days, the estimated demand becomes enforceable, leaving appeal as the remedy.
Can a person who never filed the returns still be penalised in a fake invoice case?
Yes. Section 122(1A) targets the person at whose instance fake transactions are conducted and who retains the benefit, even if the invoices were issued through some other entity. Where the offence involves supplying without an invoice, issuing invoices without supply, or availing or passing on credit from such invoices, the beneficiary faces a penalty equal to the tax evaded or the credit availed or passed on. This is how masterminds behind billing rackets are penalised alongside the front companies. If your GSTIN in Pozhichalur has been misused by a third party, respond to any such notice with evidence immediately; call +91 - 9600 606 444.
The department has provisionally attached my bank account under Section 83. What does that mean?
Section 83 empowers the Commissioner, where he records an opinion that protecting revenue requires it, to provisionally attach property including bank accounts during the pendency of specified proceedings, such as assessment, inspection or demand cases. The attachment order is issued in Form DRC-22 and a copy goes to your bank, which freezes debits. Crucially, the attachment automatically ceases to have effect after one year from the order, and it can be lifted earlier through Form DRC-23 if the Commissioner is satisfied. Courts insist the power is draconian and must be exercised with genuine, recorded reasons, which is a strong ground of challenge in suitable cases.
What is the general penalty under Section 125 and when is it imposed?
Section 125 is the residual penalty provision for contraventions of the Act or rules for which no separate penalty is prescribed anywhere else. It can extend to Rs.25,000 under the CGST Act, with a matching penalty under the SGST Act, so the practical exposure is up to Rs.50,000 per contravention. Officers invoke it for procedural lapses such as not displaying the registration certificate, minor documentation errors during transit, or failure to furnish information called for. Because the amount is discretionary, a reasoned reply showing the breach was technical and without revenue loss often brings the figure down substantially.
Can a GST officer arrest a businessman, and what safeguards exist?
Yes, but only within defined limits. Under Section 69, the Commissioner must record reasons to believe that a person has committed one of the serious specified offences, chiefly fake invoicing and evasion beyond the prosecution thresholds, before authorising arrest. For cognizable, non-bailable cases, the person must be produced before a Magistrate within twenty-four hours; for bailable offences, the Deputy or Assistant Commissioner can grant bail. Departmental instructions require that arrest is not routine and must be justified by factors like flight risk or evidence tampering. If summons in a Pozhichalur investigation escalate toward arrest talk, engage counsel immediately; call +91 - 9600 606 444 for coordination.
I missed the deadline to reply to a GST notice. What are my options now?
Act immediately, because delay narrows your options. If no order has been passed yet, file a belated reply with a condonation request explaining the delay and appear at the personal hearing; officers frequently take late replies on record before adjudicating. If an ex parte order has already been issued, you can file an appeal in Form APL-01 within three months of the order, paying the mandatory pre-deposit of 10 percent of the disputed tax. Many Pozhichalur taxpayers discover notices only after the order stage because they never checked the Additional Notices tab, so a quick portal review is the first step.
How will I know my scrutiny reply has been accepted by the GST officer?
If your explanation in ASMT-11 is found acceptable, the officer issues Form ASMT-12 informing you that the discrepancies stand explained and no further action is required on those points. The order appears in your Additional Notices and Orders tab on the portal. Keep the ASMT-12 safely with your reconciliation working papers, because the same period can still come up in a later audit and the closure order is your best shield. If instead the officer is not satisfied, expect a DRC-01A or show cause notice. Many Pozhichalur clients receive ASMT-12 within weeks when the reply is complete and well-annexed.
I agree with part of the ASMT-10 discrepancy but not all of it. How do I respond?
A split response is perfectly acceptable and often the wisest course. Pay the portion you accept through Form DRC-03 with interest at 18 percent per annum, and in your ASMT-11 reply state the payment details along with a reasoned explanation for the balance, supported by reconciliations, invoices and ledger extracts. Paying the admitted amount voluntarily at the scrutiny stage avoids penalty on it under Section 73 and shows bona fides, which helps the officer accept your explanation on the disputed part. ChennaiGST prepares this admit-and-contest working for Pozhichalur businesses so nothing is conceded unnecessarily; call +91 - 9600 606 444 to review your notice.
What happens if I do not reply to an ASMT-10 scrutiny notice?
If no satisfactory explanation is filed within thirty days, or you fail to correct the discrepancies, the officer can escalate the matter to a departmental audit under Section 65, a special audit under Section 66, an inspection under Section 67, or straightaway initiate a demand under Section 73 or Section 74. In practice, unanswered ASMT-10 notices convert into DRC-01A intimations and then show cause notices, where penalties and hearings enter the picture. Replying at the scrutiny stage is the cheapest point to close an issue, because you are only explaining, not yet defending a demand. Do not let the window lapse.
What is the difference between a GST credit note and a commercial credit note?
A GST credit note is issued under Section 34, is reported in GSTR-1, and reduces your output tax, with the buyer reversing equivalent input credit. A commercial or financial credit note adjusts only the money owed between the parties; it carries no GST, is not reported in returns, and leaves everyone's tax position untouched. Businesses use commercial credit notes when the 30 November deadline has passed, or for post-supply discounts that do not satisfy the statutory conditions for a tax adjustment. Choosing the wrong instrument is a frequent audit finding, so decide the type before the note is issued.
We pay for foreign software subscriptions and overseas consultants. Is GST payable in India?
Yes. Import of services, meaning services from a supplier located outside India received by a person in India for business, attracts IGST under reverse charge in the recipient's hands, payable in cash and claimable as ITC if eligible. This catches cloud software, foreign professional fees, overseas advertising and licence fees. Two nuances matter: services from a related foreign party, such as your parent company, are taxable even without consideration under Schedule I, and OIDAR services supplied to unregistered consumers are taxed in the foreign supplier's own hands, not under RCM. Startups and IT firms in Pozhichalur paying by card frequently miss these entries; reconcile foreign remittances against RCM paid annually.
Our head office in Pozhichalur supports branches in other states. Is a cross-charge invoice really required?
Yes. Branches with separate GSTINs are distinct persons, and Schedule I treats supplies between them as taxable even without consideration. Services your head office renders to branches, such as accounting, IT support or management oversight, should be cross-charged through a tax invoice with IGST, which the branch claims as credit. On valuation, Rule 28 helps: where the recipient branch is entitled to full ITC, the value declared on the invoice is deemed to be the open market value, and Circular 199/11/2023 clarifies that internally generated services need not include the salary cost of head office employees. A documented cross-charge policy keeps audits short; call +91 - 9600 606 444 to set one up.
Are any goods exempt from GST when transported by a GTA?
Yes. Transport by a GTA of agricultural produce, milk, salt and foodgrains including flours and pulses, organic manure, newspapers and magazines registered with the Registrar of Newspapers, relief materials for victims of calamities, and defence or military equipment is exempt regardless of freight value. Note that the older exemptions for small consignments, Rs.1,500 for a full truckload and Rs.750 for a single consignee, were withdrawn with effect from 18 July 2022, so ordinary cargo enjoys no value-based relief now. Transporters serving agricultural markets should describe the produce accurately on the consignment note to support the exemption.
Which food items became completely tax-free under GST 2.0?
From 22 September 2025, UHT milk, pre-packaged and labelled paneer and chena, and all Indian breads including roti, chapati, paratha and khakhra attract nil GST. In the pharma space, thirty-three notified lifesaving drugs and medicines for cancer and rare diseases also moved to nil rate. Remember that selling nil-rated goods still has compliance effects: you issue a bill of supply instead of a tax invoice for such items, and input tax credit attributable to nil-rated supplies must be reversed proportionately under Rules 42 and 43. Grocery retailers in Pozhichalur commonly need help splitting mixed billing correctly.
Our security agency does not charge GST on its bills. Is that correct?
Quite possibly, yes. Since 1 January 2019, security services meaning supply of security personnel, when provided by any person other than a body corporate to a registered person, fall under reverse charge, so the agency correctly bills without tax and you pay 18 percent through GSTR-3B in cash, claiming ITC. If your security agency is a private limited company, however, RCM does not apply and it must charge GST on its invoice under forward charge. Composition taxpayers as recipients are excluded from this entry. Confirm the agency's constitution from its PAN, because paying under the wrong mechanism creates trouble for both sides.
What documents must I prepare for reverse charge purchases from unregistered suppliers?
Two documents are required. First, a self-invoice: Section 31(3)(f) obliges you to issue an invoice on yourself for goods or services received from an unregistered supplier on which you pay tax under reverse charge, and under Rule 47A this self-invoice must be issued within thirty days of receiving the supply. Second, a payment voucher under Rule 52 at the time of making payment to the supplier. The self-invoice is the document on which you claim the input tax credit of the reverse charge tax paid. Freight from unregistered transporters and advocate fees are typical cases where businesses miss this paperwork.
Can I get GST notice reply done online without visiting the office?
Yes, the entire process can be handled online. You share scanned documents on WhatsApp or email, we prepare and file everything on the GST portal, and you receive the acknowledgement and filed copies digitally. Businesses in Pozhichalur regularly complete notice reply with us without a single office visit. If a physical verification or personal hearing is required by the department, we guide you through it.
Which GST office handles Pozhichalur businesses?
Businesses in Pozhichalur (PIN 600074) generally fall under the CGST Chennai Outer Commissionerate, with state-jurisdiction cases handled by the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department. Your exact division and range can be confirmed from your GSTIN on the GST portal. We regularly appear before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and hearings, so we know the local practice and documentation preferences.
Is there a GST consultant near Pozhichalur for gst notice reply?
