Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for 12th Cross Street, Thirusulam

Choosing GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B Monthly Filing in Thirusulam is ultimately an act of trust: you are handing over sales figures, purchase records and portal access. Thirusulam faces Chennai International Airport across GST Road, its quarried hill topped by the Tirusoolanathar Temple and its frontage taken by freight forwarders, air cargo agents, customs brokers, cab fleets and budget lodges near Tirusulam railway station and the Airport Flyover. Zero-rated export freight, place-of-supply calls on international transport and reverse charge on GTA services make these filings unusually technical. We earn that trust the unglamorous way — fixed fees honoured, drafts approved by you before filing, acknowledgements shared the same day, and strict confidentiality throughout. Clients across Thirusulam, Meenambakkam and Pallavaram have stayed with us for years on precisely this basis.

GST jurisdiction for Thirusulam (PIN 600043): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai Outer Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Thirusulam before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for IT and SaaS Companies in Thirusulam
IT and SaaS services are taxed at 18 percent domestically, but the real complexity is qualifying overseas billing as export under Section 2(6) of the IGST Act: the recipient must be outside India, consideration must arrive in convertible foreign exchange or INR where RBI permits, and the Indian entity and foreign recipient must not be mere establishments of the same person. Marketing or support arms serving a foreign parent risk classification as intermediaries under Section 13(8), making the place of supply India and the income taxable. Supplies to SEZ units are zero-rated with proper endorsements. A specialist structures contracts and invoicing so export status survives departmental scrutiny.
You can move your GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B Monthly Filing to a new consultant in Thirusulam at any time mid-year; past filings are reviewed, pending items are regularised, and ongoing fees start at Rs.749.
Why Us

Why 12th Cross Street, Thirusulam Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

Support in Tamil and English

GST is confusing enough without a language barrier. Our team explains notices, tax positions and filing requirements in plain Tamil or English, whichever you and your staff in Thirusulam are comfortable with, and keeps written communication simple and jargon-free.

Advisory, Not Just Data Entry

We tell you when the composition scheme stops making sense, when QRMP suits your cash flow, and when a supplier's non-compliance is quietly costing you credit. Filing is the minimum; helping you make better GST decisions is the actual job.

E-Commerce Seller Reconciliation, Including TCS

Sellers on Amazon, Flipkart and other marketplaces face a three-way match between marketplace reports, GSTR-1 and the TCS the operator deposits against your GSTIN. We reconcile all three every period and accept the TCS credit, so sellers in Thirusulam never leave marketplace deductions unclaimed.

E-Invoice and E-Way Bill Fluency

E-invoicing is mandatory once turnover crosses Rs.5 crore and e-way bills apply to goods movements above Rs.50,000. We set up, train and troubleshoot both systems, so your despatches from Thirusulam are never held up by a compliance gap at the gate.

Transparent, Fixed Fees Quoted Upfront

You are told the full fee before we begin, in writing. No surprise additions for uploads, revisions or acknowledgements. Government fees and taxes, where applicable, are shown separately, so businesses in Thirusulam always know exactly what the engagement costs them.

Notice Support Does Not Stop at Filing

If a query, ASMT-10 scrutiny notice or DRC-01 arrives on a return we filed, we stand behind our work and help you draft the reply. You are not left alone with a departmental letter and a thirty-day clock ticking against you.

How It Works

Our Monthly Returns Process

Monthly data collection

At month end we remind you and collect sales invoices, purchase bills and credit notes in whatever format you maintain, including Excel, Tally exports or scanned copies.

GSTR-1 preparation and filing

We prepare invoice-wise outward supply details, validate GSTINs of your B2B customers, summarise B2C supplies and file GSTR-1 on the portal before the 11th.

ITC reconciliation with GSTR-2B

We download your auto-drafted GSTR-2B, match it against purchase records, and claim only eligible input tax credit so that mismatches do not trigger scrutiny notices later.

Tax computation and confirmation

We compute net tax payable after ITC set-off, share the working with you for approval, and generate the payment challan for any cash liability.

GSTR-3B filing and reporting

After your confirmation and tax payment, we file GSTR-3B before the 20th and send you both filed acknowledgements along with a one-page summary of the month.

Outcomes

What You Get

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

Time Back for Your Actual Business

The hours you or your accountant spent wrestling with the portal, JSON errors and reconciliations every month return to sales, operations and customers, while trained hands manage the compliance in the background.

Better Cash Flow Planning

You know your expected GST outflow days before the 20th, not on the night of filing. That advance visibility lets you plan payments, collections and bank balances instead of scrambling for funds at the deadline.

Smooth Scheme Transitions

Whether moving between composition and regular scheme, opting into QRMP, or crossing the e-invoice threshold at Rs.5 crore, transitions are planned in advance rather than discovered after a compliance breach.

Supplier Risk Caught Early

We spot suppliers who stop uploading invoices or filing returns and alert you before their default becomes your blocked credit, letting you recover amounts or switch vendors while the exposure is still small.

Confidence During Officer Interactions

When a query or verification comes, you respond through a professional who deals with the department regularly, in the department's own language and format, instead of facing an officer's letter alone.

Closure Without Loose Ends

When a business winds up, proper cancellation and a timely final return ensure the file is genuinely closed, so no demand or late-fee computation resurfaces against you long after the shutters came down.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Due-date trackingA maintained compliance calendar with internal cut-offs days before the 11th and the 20th; we chase you for data, not the other way around.Deadlines remembered from memory or phone alarms; one busy week and the return slips past the due date.
Annual return preparationMonthly reconciliations roll naturally into GSTR-9, filed comfortably before 31 December with figures already agreed through the year.Twelve months of unmatched data reconstructed in December, with differences discovered too late to be corrected cleanly.
Supplier defaultsSuppliers who stop uploading invoices are identified within the period and pursued before their default becomes your blocked credit.Missing supplier invoices surface only when credit is denied, by which time recovering the amount from the vendor is difficult.
Risk of noticesGSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B reconciled before filing, removing the mismatches that trigger most scrutiny notices.Inconsistent figures across returns quietly build a mismatch history that surfaces later as ASMT-10 scrutiny or a demand notice.
When a notice arrivesA professional drafts the reply in the department's format and files it within the statutory window, such as thirty days for ASMT-11.You face departmental language alone, and a missed reply deadline can convert a simple query into a demand with penalty.
Portal credentials and dataLogins handled by a small engaged team under strict confidentiality, with credentials stored securely and never passed onward.Passwords circulating on chats with freelancers and part-timers, and no accountability for who has accessed your business data.

AAR Ruling

Electrical wiring harness classified as insulated wire, not a vehicle part

WABCO India Ltd - AAR Tamil Nadu, Order No. TN/10/AAR/2018, dated 27 September 2018 · 2018-09-27

The manufacturer supplied electrical wiring harness, essentially electrical wire with connectors at both ends, used in motor vehicles, and asked whether it should be classified as a motor vehicle part or as insulated electrical conductors. The Authority classified the product under heading 8544, which covers insulated wire and cable fitted with connectors, taxable at 9 percent central tax and 9 percent State tax following Notification No. 41/2017-Central Tax (Rate) dated 14 November 2017, the earlier rate having been higher.

Why this matters: Chennai auto component makers should classify by the tariff description of the article itself, not by the vehicle it eventually goes into.

Portal Advisory

New portal statement tracks ITC reversed and reclaimed

GSTN Advisory dated 31 August 2023 — Electronic Credit Reversal and Re-claimed Statement · 2023-08-31

GSTN introduced the Electronic Credit Reversal and Re-claimed Statement on the portal to track credit reversed in Table 4B(2) of GSTR-3B and later reclaimed in Tables 4D(1) and 4A(5). It applied from the August 2023 return for monthly filers and from the July to September 2023 quarter for quarterly filers. The cumulative opening balance of reversals awaiting reclaim had to be reported by 30 November 2023, with up to three amendments allowed until 31 December 2023. The portal now warns when reclaimed credit exceeds the available balance.

What to do about it: Maintain a running register of credit reversed and reclaimed, because the portal flags excess reclaims and the data feeds departmental scrutiny.

Circular

What 'as is where is' regularisation in a GST circular actually means

Circular No. 236/30/2024-GST · 2024-10-11

CBIC explained the scope of the phrase 'regularised on as is where is basis' used when the Council settles a disputed rate or classification. Where taxpayers paid at the lower of two competing rates or claimed an exemption in good faith, the past position is accepted as full discharge and no differential demand arises. However, no refund is available to anyone who paid at the higher rate or did not claim the exemption, and the circular works through illustrations showing exactly which past positions stand closed.

What it means for you: Read any rate clarification circular alongside its regularisation paragraph, because that paragraph often extinguishes the entire exposure for earlier years.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

Which GST office handles Thirusulam businesses?
Businesses in Thirusulam (PIN 600043) generally fall under the CGST Chennai Outer Commissionerate, with state-jurisdiction cases handled by the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department. Your exact division and range can be confirmed from your GSTIN on the GST portal. We regularly appear before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and hearings, so we know the local practice and documentation preferences.
What documents are required for GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B monthly filing in Thirusulam?
For GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B monthly filing you will generally need: Sales invoices or sales register for the month, Purchase invoices or purchase register, Credit notes and debit notes issued during the month, GST portal login credentials, Bank statement for the period, if reconciliation is needed. The exact list depends on your constitution — proprietorship, partnership, LLP or company — and on the specifics of your case. Send what you have on WhatsApp to +91 - 9600 606 444 and we will confirm within the same working day exactly what else is needed, so nothing is rejected later for a missing paper.
My medical shop also sells supplements, cosmetics and baby products. Do they all take the medicine rate?
No, and this is where pharmacies slip. Only items answering the description of drugs and medicaments take 5% or nil. Nutraceuticals and protein supplements generally attract 18%, beauty and makeup preparations 18%, while daily-use items such as soaps, shampoos and toothpaste came down to 5% in September 2025. Each product must be mapped to its own HSN code and rate in your billing software, and your GSTR-1 HSN summary must reflect that mix. A single wrong default rate applied across the counter creates either short payment or overcharging. ChennaiGST runs product-master audits for pharmacies in Thirusulam; call +91 - 9600 606 444 to schedule one.
What is a B2C large invoice and what is the current threshold?
A B2C large invoice is an inter-state supply to an unregistered person exceeding the notified value threshold, which was reduced from Rs.2.5 lakh to Rs.1 lakh. Such invoices must be reported individually in Table 5 of GSTR-1 with the place of supply, instead of being merged into the consolidated B2C summary. The rule helps states track high-value consumer sales flowing across borders. If your Thirusulam showroom occasionally bills an unregistered customer from another state above Rs.1 lakh, your billing and returns process must flag it for invoice-wise reporting, or GSTR-1 validations and later scrutiny will surface the gap.
What is the difference between GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B?
GSTR-1 is a detailed invoice-wise statement of your sales, filed by the 11th of the next month. It does not involve any tax payment but it feeds your customers' GSTR-2B for input tax credit. GSTR-3B is a self-declared summary return, due on the 20th, where you report total sales, claim input tax credit and pay the net tax in cash or through credit. Both must match; mismatches between GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B are a common trigger for notices from the department, which is why we reconcile them before every filing.
What is GSTR-2B and why does my consultant match it before filing?
GSTR-2B is an auto-drafted statement of the input tax credit available to you, generated on the 14th of every month from the GSTR-1 and IFF filings of your suppliers. Input tax credit in GSTR-3B can only be claimed for invoices appearing in GSTR-2B, so matching your purchase register against it before filing is essential. If a supplier has not uploaded an invoice, the credit must be deferred and the supplier followed up. This monthly reconciliation is included in our return filing service for businesses in Thirusulam.
Swiggy and Zomato pay the GST on my restaurant orders. How do I show these sales in my returns?
Since 1 January 2022, tax on restaurant services supplied through e-commerce operators is payable by the operator under Section 9(5), so you do not charge GST on app orders and no TCS is collected on them either. You must still report these supplies: show them in GSTR-3B Table 3.1.1(ii) as supplies on which the operator pays tax, and disclose them in GSTR-1, without paying tax on them again. Direct dine-in and takeaway billing remains taxable in your hands at 5%. Mixing up these tables is a common error we correct for restaurants in Thirusulam; call +91 - 9600 606 444 for help.
My company has taken a residential flat on rent. Why is our accountant paying GST on it?
Because of a reverse charge entry effective 18 July 2022: renting of a residential dwelling to a registered person attracts 18 percent GST payable by the tenant under reverse charge, even when the landlord is unregistered. Renting to unregistered individuals for residence remains fully exempt. There is a carve-out from 1 January 2023: a proprietor renting a dwelling in his personal capacity for use as his own residence, on his own account and not for the business, is exempt. Companies and firms renting flats, including for guest houses, must therefore pay RCM monthly through GSTR-3B. We correct many such missed entries during our compliance health checks.
What is the difference between GSTR-2A and GSTR-2B, and which one should I follow?
GSTR-2A is a dynamic statement that keeps changing as suppliers file or amend their returns, so the same month's data can look different on different dates. GSTR-2B is a static statement generated on the 14th of each month, capturing supplier filings between cut-off dates, and it never changes afterwards. The law ties your ITC eligibility to GSTR-2B, and GSTR-3B auto-populates from it, so 2B is the statement to reconcile against for monthly claims. GSTR-2A remains useful for tracing when an invoice was actually uploaded, which helps in replying to departmental queries about earlier periods.
How and when can I opt in or out of the QRMP scheme?
The option is exercised on the GST portal under Services, Returns, Opt-in for Quarterly Return. The window for any quarter runs from the first day of the second month of the preceding quarter to the last day of the first month of the quarter you are opting for. For example, to be under QRMP for July to September, opt in between 1 May and 31 July. Once chosen, the option continues for future quarters until you change it or your turnover crosses Rs.5 crore. We handle the opt-in for clients at no extra charge.
I received a debit note from a supplier for an old invoice. Which year's ITC deadline applies?
The deadline is counted from the date of the debit note, not the original invoice. After the Finance Act 2020 delinked debit notes from their underlying invoices, ITC on a debit note can be claimed up to 30 November following the end of the financial year in which the debit note itself was issued. So a debit note dated June 2025 against an invoice of January 2024 remains claimable until 30 November 2026. This delinking rescues many price-escalation and rate-difference credits that would otherwise appear time-barred, and it is worth checking before writing off any debit note credit as lost.
I buy electronics stock from distributors in other states. How does the IGST on purchases work for me?
Inter-state purchases carry IGST, which flows into your GSTR-2B once the distributor files GSTR-1, and it is fully available as input tax credit. When you sell locally in Tamil Nadu you charge CGST and SGST, and the law lets you use IGST credit against both, with the portal applying the set-off order automatically. There is no cost disadvantage in buying from out-of-state distributors, provided they are compliant filers; a distributor who files late delays your credit by a month. Track supplier filing discipline as part of vendor selection. Retailers in Thirusulam can call +91 - 9600 606 444 for a supplier compliance scorecard.
Is GST still charged on life and health insurance premiums?
No. With effect from 22 September 2025, premiums on all individual life insurance policies, including term plans, endowment plans and ULIPs, and all individual health insurance policies, including family floater and senior citizen plans, are exempt from GST. Reinsurance of these policies is also exempt. Earlier these premiums bore 18 percent tax. Note that the exemption applies to policies taken by individuals; certain group covers procured by businesses can still attract GST, and insurers can no longer claim input credit attributable to exempt policies. Policyholders should see the benefit directly in renewal notices.
Are hospital and clinic charges exempt from GST?
Healthcare services provided by a clinical establishment, an authorised medical practitioner or paramedics are exempt from GST. This covers diagnosis, treatment and care for illness, injury, deformity or pregnancy in any recognised system of medicine in India, and includes transportation of patients by ambulance, which is separately exempt for any provider. Consultation fees, surgery charges, nursing and diagnostic services within this definition carry no GST, which is why hospitals do not charge tax on treatment bills. The exemption attaches to the nature of the service, not the size of the hospital, so both a large corporate hospital and a single-doctor clinic are covered.
What is the GST rate for salons, gyms and yoga centres?
From 22 September 2025, beauty and physical well-being services, covering salons, barbers, beauty parlours, gyms, fitness centres and yoga institutes, attract 5 percent GST without input tax credit, reduced from the earlier 18 percent. The condition attached to the concessional rate is important: because credit is barred, the GST paid on your rent, equipment, cosmetics and consumables becomes part of your cost base. Service businesses in Thirusulam moving to the 5 percent rate should reprice services keeping this embedded tax in mind, and must not continue charging 18 percent, since excess tax collected has to be deposited with the government.
What are the rules for numbering GST invoices?
The invoice serial number must be consecutive, must not exceed sixteen characters, and may contain alphabets, numerals and the special characters hyphen and slash, in one or multiple series. Each number must be unique for a financial year, so most businesses restart their series every April with a year prefix such as 2026-27/001. Gaps in a series invite questions during audit because officers may suspect unreported invoices, and cancelled invoice numbers should be retained in records with the cancelled copy. The document series you use must also be declared in Table 13 of GSTR-1 each period.
I hold stock purchased before the September 2025 rate cuts at higher tax rates. What happens when I sell it now?
You charge the rate in force on the date of supply, so goods sold on or after 22 September 2025 carry the new lower rate even if you bought them when the rate was 12% or 28%. The input tax credit you took at the old, higher rate remains fully intact in your credit ledger and is not restricted merely because output is now taxed lower; it simply sets off across your overall liability. No stock declaration was required for this transition. What traders in Thirusulam must avoid is selling old-MRP stock at prices that ignore the tax cut without reviewing pricing. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 for a transition check.
If I open a bulk bag and sell rice loose by weight, is that sale taxable?
No. The 5% levy on specified food items applies only when they are supplied in pre-packaged and labelled form in packs up to 25 kilograms. When a retailer opens bulk stock and weighs out loose quantities against each customer's order, the supply is not of a pre-packaged commodity, so it remains exempt. What you cannot do is sell an intact labelled retail pack and bill it as loose. Keep purchase records showing bulk procurement and maintain the loose counter separately from the packed shelf, because officers test this distinction during inspections of grocery businesses. When in doubt on a product, call +91 - 9600 606 444.
Do you provide gst return filing for small businesses and proprietorships in Thirusulam?
Yes. A large share of our clients in Thirusulam are proprietors, small traders, shop owners, freelancers and family businesses rather than large companies. The fee of Rs.749/month and the process are the same regardless of size, and we explain the compliance position in plain language — in Tamil or English — so you understand what is being filed on your behalf and why.
Are there any hidden charges for GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B monthly filing?
No. The fee quoted before we start is the fee you pay. Government fees, portal charges or statutory late fees, where they apply, are separate and disclosed to you in advance with the exact amount. We issue a proper GST invoice for our professional fee. If the scope of work changes — for example, an unexpected notice or additional periods — we tell you the revised fee before doing anything further.
How long does GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B monthly filing take in Thirusulam?
Filed before the 11th and 20th of every month. That assumes your documents are complete and there is no departmental query. We start the same day we receive your papers and tell you the realistic completion date upfront rather than an optimistic one. Where the GST portal or the officer causes delay — clarifications, physical verification or system issues — we track it daily and keep you informed on WhatsApp.
