Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for Poompuhar Nagar 1st Main Road, Kolathur

If you operate in Kolathur, GST deadlines arrive with the same force as anywhere in Chennai — GSTR-1 by the 11th, GSTR-3B by the 20th. Kolathur is India's best-known ornamental fish hub, with breeding farms and aquarium shops clustered off Red Hills Road near Retteri junction, alongside hardware stores and construction material suppliers serving fast-growing residential pockets like Poombuhar Nagar. Many fish breeders and online sellers cross the Rs.40 lakh goods threshold without realising it, making first-time registration and e-commerce reporting the local GST pain point. We provide GST Notice Reply to businesses across Kolathur and the adjoining Villivakkam and Perambur localities, maintaining a compliance calendar for every client so due dates are met without last-minute panic, late fees or interest at 18 percent per annum.

GST jurisdiction for Kolathur (PIN 600099): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai North Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Kolathur before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST Support for Wholesale Traders in Kolathur
Wholesale trade runs on thin margins and heavy invoice volumes, so small GST errors multiply quickly. Once taxable supplies cross Rs.50 lakh in a month, Rule 86B requires at least one percent of output tax to be paid in cash regardless of credit balance, and quantity or turnover discounts must be passed through credit notes that satisfy Section 15(3)(b) to legally reduce taxable value. A specialist keeps your invoice-wise B2B reporting clean so retailer customers receive credit without friction, watches the Rs.5 crore e-invoicing threshold as volumes grow, and documents discount schemes in agreements the department will accept. Wholesalers in Kolathur can call +91 - 9600 606 444 for a margin-safe compliance review.
After GST Notice Reply is filed, support continues — acknowledgements are archived, upcoming due dates are tracked, and any departmental query on the work is answered, all within fees starting at Rs.2,999 in Kolathur.
Why Us

Why Poompuhar Nagar 1st Main Road, Kolathur Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

Transparent, Fixed Fees Quoted Upfront

You are told the full fee before we begin, in writing. No surprise additions for uploads, revisions or acknowledgements. Government fees and taxes, where applicable, are shown separately, so businesses in Kolathur always know exactly what the engagement costs them.

Clean Exits When a Business Closes

Winding up attracts its own GST obligations — the cancellation application, reversal of credit on closing stock, and the final return in GSTR-10 within three months. We close registrations properly so a business you shut in Kolathur never writes back to you as a demand years later.

Waiver and Amnesty Windows Applied for You

Whenever the GST Council notifies a late-fee waiver or an amnesty window for pending returns or old demands, we check every client's history against it and act within the deadline. Relief that businesses in Kolathur would otherwise read about after it lapsed reaches our clients in time.

Advisory, Not Just Data Entry

We tell you when the composition scheme stops making sense, when QRMP suits your cash flow, and when a supplier's non-compliance is quietly costing you credit. Filing is the minimum; helping you make better GST decisions is the actual job.

Composition Scheme Compliance Without Slips

Composition dealers have their own rulebook — CMP-08 every quarter, GSTR-4 annually by 30 June, bills of supply instead of tax invoices, and a turnover ceiling that must be watched. We handle each of these correctly so the scheme's simplicity never turns into a violation.

We Work with Your Existing Software

Tally, Zoho Books, Busy, marketplace reports, plain Excel or even a handwritten bill book — we take your data in whatever form your Kolathur business already maintains it. You are never forced to buy new software or retrain staff just to become our client.

How It Works

Our Notice Reply Process

Notice study

We read the notice line by line, identify the section invoked, the periods covered, the exact information sought and the deadline for response.

Data reconciliation

The figures alleged in the notice are reconciled against your filed returns, GSTR-2B and books, so the reply is grounded in verifiable numbers rather than assertions.

Reply drafting

We draft a professional, point-wise reply addressing every allegation, attaching reconciliations, invoices and legal support, and share the draft with you for approval.

Filing and payment

The approved reply is filed on the portal within the deadline. Where a small genuine liability exists, we advise payment through DRC-03 to limit interest and penalty.

Closure tracking

We monitor the portal for the officer's response, attend to any further queries or hearing dates, and pursue the matter until a closure or order is received.

Outcomes

What You Get

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

Due-Diligence Ready for Investors and Buyers

Funding rounds, partnerships and business sales all begin with a compliance check. A clean, documented GST history lets you clear that scrutiny quickly instead of watching a deal stall over old filing gaps.

A Clean GSTIN That Stays Active

Continuous filing protects you from the suspension and cancellation proceedings that hit chronic non-filers, so your registration, e-way bill access and ability to issue tax invoices are never suddenly cut off.

Growth Without Compliance Anxiety

New branches, new product lines and interstate sales all carry GST consequences. With standing professional support, you expand knowing registrations, invoicing and returns will keep pace with the business.

Goods That Move Without Detention

Correct e-way bills matched to correct invoices mean your consignments clear roadside inspections cleanly, avoiding detention proceedings whose penalties can far exceed the tax on the goods being carried.

Supplier Risk Caught Early

We spot suppliers who stop uploading invoices or filing returns and alert you before their default becomes your blocked credit, letting you recover amounts or switch vendors while the exposure is still small.

Slips Settled Before They Become Notices

Where a genuine error is found in a past period, voluntary payment through DRC-03 before any notice issues closes the matter at minimal cost, instead of letting it ripen into a demand with penalty.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Goods in transitE-way bills generated correctly and matched to invoices, so consignments pass roadside inspections without detention or penalty.A defective or missing e-way bill can mean detention at a checkpoint, with penalties that dwarf the tax on the consignment.
Input tax creditPurchase register matched against GSTR-2B each period, with defaulting suppliers chased so eligible credit is actually captured.Credit claimed from books alone; mismatches with GSTR-2B mean lost credit or excess claims that invite departmental queries.
Time costRoughly an hour a month to send data and approve drafts; the portal work, reconciliation and follow-up are ours.Hours every month lost to portal errors, JSON files, OTP failures and reworking figures — usually on the due date itself.
Late fees and interestFilings go in ahead of statutory dates, so the Rs.50-per-day late fee and 18 percent interest never arise.Late fees accumulate silently every delayed day, and interest on unpaid tax runs at 18 percent per annum.
Record keepingEvery return, challan, acknowledgement and working paper archived in an organised folder, retrievable in minutes years later.Documents scattered across email, downloads and old phones; assembling records for a bank or an audit takes days.
Registration and amendmentsQuery-resistant applications prepared correctly the first time, with supporting documents matched to what proper officers actually verify.Repeated clarification memos and resubmissions, with weeks lost because a rent agreement or premises photograph did not meet expectations.

Portal Advisory

GST Appellate Tribunal e-filing portal opens for second appeals

GSTAT E-Filing Portal advisories, portal operational from 24 September 2025 · 2025-09-24

The GST Appellate Tribunal's e-filing portal at efiling.gstat.gov.in became operational on 24 September 2025, finally giving taxpayers a forum for second appeals against orders of appellate and revisional authorities. Filing of appeals is mandatorily electronic, and advisories prescribe a phased, staggered schedule so that the backlog does not congest the system, with backlog appeals against pre-existing orders permitted to be filed up to 30 June 2026.

What it means for you: List every unfavourable appellate order your business holds and calendar the GSTAT filing windows now, since the backlog window closes on 30 June 2026 and missed tribunal deadlines forfeit the appeal remedy.

Notification

Electric vehicles stay at 5 per cent while petrol and diesel cars move to 18 or 40

Notification No. 9/2025-Central Tax (Rate), dated 17 September 2025, Schedule I entries for electrically operated vehicles and chargers · 2025-09-17

Electrically operated vehicles including two-wheelers and three-wheelers, fuel cell and hydrogen vehicles, e-bicycles and chargers or charging stations for electric vehicles remain in Schedule I at five per cent. Small petrol cars up to 1200 cc and up to 4000 mm, small diesel cars up to 1500 cc and up to 4000 mm and motorcycles up to 350 cc moved to eighteen per cent, while larger cars, hybrids above those limits and motorcycles above 350 cc were placed at forty per cent.

Practical effect: The tax gap between an electric two-wheeler at five per cent and a petrol motorcycle at eighteen per cent is now the single biggest pricing lever for Chennai vehicle dealers.

Circular

Goods rate and classification clarifications after the 47th Council

Circular No. 179/11/2022-GST · 2022-08-03

The Board settled several goods classification disputes following the 47th GST Council meeting. It confirmed that electrically operated vehicles attract the five per cent rate whether or not they are fitted with a battery pack at the time of supply, and that treated sewage water is exempt because the exclusion for purified water does not extend to it. Rates on fly ash bricks and blocks and on certain by-products of milling of pulses were also clarified.

How we apply it: Chennai dealers in electric vehicles and construction materials should check their invoicing against this circular, since past classification errors are a common audit finding.

Already Holding the Notice? Read It in About a Minute

Upload the PDF to our free GST Notice Analyser. It identifies which of 34 notice types you have, pulls out the DIN, GSTIN and tax period, reads the reply date printed on the notice and tells you plainly whether that date has already passed — along with the documents and reconciliations you will need. No payment, no account. If the notice does not state a date we can read, it says so rather than guessing one for you.

The analyser reports what your notice says and the statutory position for that form. It is not a substitute for a consultant reading your actual records, and a reply should be reviewed before you file it.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

How much does GST notice reply cost in Kolathur?
Our fee for GST notice reply in Kolathur starts at Rs.2,999 and is quoted in full before we begin — there are no hidden charges added later. The fee covers professional work end to end: document review, preparation, filing and follow-up until completion. Government fees or portal charges, where applicable, are separate and always shown to you upfront. For an exact quote based on your turnover and business type, call +91 - 9600 606 444 and a consultant will confirm it on the call.
Do you provide GST notice reply for businesses on Poompuhar Nagar 1st Main Road?
Yes. We serve businesses on and around Poompuhar Nagar 1st Main Road in Kolathur — shops, offices, godowns and home-run businesses alike. Document pickup can be arranged at your premises, or you can send everything on WhatsApp and complete notice reply without leaving your counter. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 and mention your location; a consultant will confirm the fee and timeline immediately.
I missed the deadline to reply to a GST notice. What are my options now?
Act immediately, because delay narrows your options. If no order has been passed yet, file a belated reply with a condonation request explaining the delay and appear at the personal hearing; officers frequently take late replies on record before adjudicating. If an ex parte order has already been issued, you can file an appeal in Form APL-01 within three months of the order, paying the mandatory pre-deposit of 10 percent of the disputed tax. Many Kolathur taxpayers discover notices only after the order stage because they never checked the Additional Notices tab, so a quick portal review is the first step.
The GST department has issued me a summons under Section 70. Is it serious?
Yes, a summons should never be ignored. Under Section 70 the officer has the powers of a civil court, and the inquiry is a judicial proceeding. You must appear on the given date and time with the documents listed, and your statement will be recorded. Non-appearance can invite penalty and, in extreme cases, prosecution. Before attending, reconstruct the facts, reconcile your returns and carry organised records of the transactions under inquiry. Never guess answers during a statement; ask for time to verify records instead. ChennaiGST prepares clients thoroughly before summons appearances; call +91 - 9600 606 444 for assistance.
What happens if I ignore a GSTR-3A notice from the GST department?
If the return is not filed within fifteen days, the officer can complete a best judgment assessment under Section 62 and pass an order in Form ASMT-13, estimating your liability from GSTR-1 data, e-way bills and bank information. Such estimates are usually far higher than the actual dues. The assessment is deemed withdrawn if you file the valid return within sixty days of the order, on payment of late fee and interest. Beyond that, the demand becomes recoverable. Several traders in Kolathur have faced bank account attachment for ignored GSTR-3A notices, so act within the fifteen-day window.
The department has provisionally attached my bank account under Section 83. What does that mean?
Section 83 empowers the Commissioner, where he records an opinion that protecting revenue requires it, to provisionally attach property including bank accounts during the pendency of specified proceedings, such as assessment, inspection or demand cases. The attachment order is issued in Form DRC-22 and a copy goes to your bank, which freezes debits. Crucially, the attachment automatically ceases to have effect after one year from the order, and it can be lifted earlier through Form DRC-23 if the Commissioner is satisfied. Courts insist the power is draconian and must be exercised with genuine, recorded reasons, which is a strong ground of challenge in suitable cases.
How can I verify whether a GST notice I received is genuine or fake?
Every communication from a central GST officer must carry a Document Identification Number (DIN), which you can verify on the CBIC website. Notices issued through the GST portal carry a Reference Number that can be checked after logging in, and a genuine notice will also appear in your View Notices and Orders or View Additional Notices and Orders tab. As per CBIC instructions, a communication without a DIN is treated as invalid. Be cautious of demands received only on WhatsApp or email asking for payment to personal accounts. If in doubt, call +91 - 9600 606 444 and we will verify the document before you respond.
I got a show cause notice in REG-17 threatening cancellation of my GST registration. What should I do?
Form REG-17 is issued when the officer proposes to cancel your registration, commonly for continuous non-filing of returns, non-existence at the declared premises or wrongful ITC availment. You must reply in Form REG-18 within seven working days and attend the hearing if one is fixed. If the reply satisfies the officer, proceedings are dropped in REG-20; otherwise cancellation is ordered in REG-19. If cancellation happens, you can seek revocation in Form REG-21 within ninety days after filing all pending returns and paying dues. Because cancelled registrations freeze e-way bills and invoicing, treat a REG-17 in Kolathur as urgent.
The audit team has pointed out a tax liability. Should I pay it or contest it?
Evaluate each para on its own merits. For findings that are clearly correct, such as missed reverse charge or arithmetic ITC excess, paying through DRC-03 with interest before a show cause notice is issued avoids penalty under Section 73 and closes the para. For findings based on debatable classification, valuation or ITC interpretation, submit a reasoned rebuttal to the draft observations, because accepting them sets a precedent for future years. If the department still proceeds, contest the DRC-01 through DRC-06 and, if needed, appeal. ChennaiGST gives Kolathur businesses a para-wise pay-or-fight recommendation with quantified exposure; call +91 - 9600 606 444 before you concede anything.
I received Form DRC-07 after an adjudication order. What happens next?
DRC-07 is the summary of the demand created on the portal after the officer passes an order, and it makes the amount recoverable. You now have two lawful paths. Either pay the demand, or file an appeal in Form APL-01 within three months of the order with a pre-deposit of 10 percent of the disputed tax, which stays recovery of the balance. If you do nothing, recovery action, including bank account attachment, can begin three months after the order, and even earlier in exceptional cases. Do not let the appeal window lapse; call +91 - 9600 606 444 for an urgent review of the order.
How do I reply to a DRC-01 show cause notice online?
The reply to a show cause notice summarised in DRC-01 is filed in Form DRC-06 on the GST portal. Log in, open View Additional Notices and Orders, select the case and use the reply option to upload your written submissions and supporting documents, and opt for a personal hearing. A good DRC-06 addresses each allegation separately, annexes reconciliations, invoices and ledgers, cites the relevant provisions and circulars, and raises limitation and jurisdiction objections where available. File within the time allowed in the notice. ChennaiGST drafts DRC-06 replies for Kolathur businesses with a hearing strategy built in from the start.
Can one document cover both taxable and exempt items sold together?
Yes, in one specific situation. Rule 46A permits a registered person supplying both taxable and exempt goods or services to an unregistered recipient to issue a single invoice-cum-bill of supply covering the entire transaction. This saves retail counters from splitting every mixed basket into two documents. The concession applies only when the buyer is unregistered; for a registered buyer, you must still issue a tax invoice for the taxable items and a separate bill of supply for the exempt items. Supermarkets and pharmacies with mixed inventories use this format daily, and billing software handles the split automatically once configured.
What is the GST rate for restaurants and food delivery now?
Standalone restaurants, eateries and cloud kitchens charge 5 percent GST without input tax credit. Restaurants located in hotels where the room tariff exceeds Rs.7,500 per day fall in the specified premises category and charge 18 percent with input tax credit. Food ordered through e-commerce operators such as Swiggy and Zomato is taxed at 5 percent, with the platform liable to pay the tax on restaurant services supplied through it. A restaurant in Kolathur paying 5 percent must remember that GST on its rent, gas and equipment purchases becomes a cost, since credit is barred.
What details must a GST tax invoice compulsorily contain?
Rule 46 of the CGST Rules prescribes the mandatory contents: your name, address and GSTIN; a consecutive serial number not exceeding sixteen characters, unique for the financial year; the date of issue; the recipient's name, address and GSTIN if registered; the HSN or SAC code; description, quantity and unit; total and taxable value; any discount; the rate and amount of CGST, SGST or IGST shown separately; place of supply with the state name for inter-state supplies; a declaration where tax is payable on reverse charge; and signature or digital signature of the supplier. Missing fields make the invoice defective and can jeopardise your buyer's credit.
What happened to the old 12 percent and 28 percent GST slabs?
Both slabs were abolished with effect from 22 September 2025. Nearly all goods that were at 12 percent moved down to 5 percent, and the bulk of the 28 percent items moved to 18 percent, with only a small set of luxury and demerit goods shifted up to the special 40 percent rate. This means old rate charts, printed price lists and software masters created before September 2025 are unreliable. Before quoting or billing, confirm the current rate against the CBIC rate notifications for your exact HSN code, or call +91 - 9600 606 444 and we will verify it for your product list.
How do I track the status of a grievance ticket or any ARN I have on the GST portal?
For grievance tickets, open selfservice.gstsystem.in and use Check Status by entering the ticket reference number; the screen shows whether it is open, under processing or resolved, with the resolution comments. For applications filed on the main portal, log in and use Services, then Track Application Status, choosing the module and entering the ARN, or open My Applications to see every application with its case detail folder, notices and replies in one place. Diarise every ARN the day it is generated, because reply windows run from portal timestamps. ChennaiGST maintains an ARN tracker for every client engagement.
We sponsored a trade event. Does reverse charge apply to the sponsorship amount?
If your business is a body corporate or partnership firm, sponsorship services received are notified under Section 9(3) and you must pay 18 percent GST under reverse charge, with ITC available since sponsorship is a marketing expense. One recent change matters: with effect from 16 January 2025, sponsorship services provided by a body corporate were moved to forward charge, so if the event organiser billing you is a company, it now charges GST on its invoice and RCM does not apply. Where the provider is a proprietor, trust or society, RCM continues. Verify the organiser's constitution before booking the entry, and raise a self-invoice where the provider is unregistered.
What are the GST rates on gold, silver and diamond jewellery?
The special rates on precious metals were retained in the GST 2.0 restructuring. Gold, silver and articles of jewellery attract 3 percent GST, rough and unworked diamonds attract 0.25 percent, and jewellery making charges billed separately attract 5 percent. When a jeweller bills a customer, the metal value and making charges can appear as separate line items with their respective rates on the same tax invoice. Old gold purchased from an unregistered customer in exchange transactions does not attract GST in the customer's hands, but valuation of the net supply must be documented carefully.
What documents are required for GST notice reply in Kolathur?
For GST notice reply you will generally need: Copy of the notice received, with its reference number and date, GST portal login credentials, GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B filed copies for the periods in question, GSTR-2A and GSTR-2B data for the relevant periods, Sales and purchase registers for the periods covered. The exact list depends on your constitution — proprietorship, partnership, LLP or company — and on the specifics of your case. Send what you have on WhatsApp to +91 - 9600 606 444 and we will confirm within the same working day exactly what else is needed, so nothing is rejected later for a missing paper.
How long does GST notice reply take in Kolathur?
Draft reply in 3-5 working days. That assumes your documents are complete and there is no departmental query. We start the same day we receive your papers and tell you the realistic completion date upfront rather than an optimistic one. Where the GST portal or the officer causes delay — clarifications, physical verification or system issues — we track it daily and keep you informed on WhatsApp.
Are there any hidden charges for GST notice reply?
No. The fee quoted before we start is the fee you pay. Government fees, portal charges or statutory late fees, where they apply, are separate and disclosed to you in advance with the exact amount. We issue a proper GST invoice for our professional fee. If the scope of work changes — for example, an unexpected notice or additional periods — we tell you the revised fee before doing anything further.
