Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for Chigirintha Palayam 4th Street, Korukkupet

Korukkupet is defined by the oil marketing company terminals off Thiruvottiyur High Road and Ennore High Road, the Korukkupet goods shed and the Cochrane Basin Road level crossing. Tanker fleet owners, terminal contractors, clearing agents and the Kalmandapam Road trading rows work around petroleum products staying outside GST, blocked input credit on such supplies, and reverse charge on inward goods transport. That commercial character shapes the GST questions we see from Korukkupet every week — registrations, monthly returns, credit mismatches and departmental queries. We deliver GST Refund RFD-01 for businesses in Korukkupet, and clients also reach us from Old Washermanpet and Tondiarpet nearby. Documents move over WhatsApp, drafts are approved before filing, and a senior consultant reviews every submission, so distance from our office never dilutes the quality of the work.

GST jurisdiction for Korukkupet (PIN 600021): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai North Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Korukkupet before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for IT and SaaS Companies in Korukkupet
IT and SaaS services are taxed at 18 percent domestically, but the real complexity is qualifying overseas billing as export under Section 2(6) of the IGST Act: the recipient must be outside India, consideration must arrive in convertible foreign exchange or INR where RBI permits, and the Indian entity and foreign recipient must not be mere establishments of the same person. Marketing or support arms serving a foreign parent risk classification as intermediaries under Section 13(8), making the place of supply India and the income taxable. Supplies to SEZ units are zero-rated with proper endorsements. A specialist structures contracts and invoicing so export status survives departmental scrutiny.
After GST Refund RFD-01 is filed, support continues — acknowledgements are archived, upcoming due dates are tracked, and any departmental query on the work is answered, all within fees starting at Rs.4,999 in Korukkupet.
Why Us

Why Chigirintha Palayam 4th Street, Korukkupet Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

Handholding for First-Time Registrants

A new GSTIN comes with obligations nobody explains at approval — the invoice series rules, displaying the registration certificate and GSTIN at your premises, and the first return cycle. We walk new registrants in Korukkupet through each of these so month one starts correctly.

Notice-Proof Filing Discipline

Most GST notices trace back to mismatches between GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B. We reconcile these before filing, not after a notice arrives, so your returns are internally consistent and the most common triggers for ASMT-10 scrutiny simply never appear.

E-Invoice and E-Way Bill Fluency

E-invoicing is mandatory once turnover crosses Rs.5 crore and e-way bills apply to goods movements above Rs.50,000. We set up, train and troubleshoot both systems, so your despatches from Korukkupet are never held up by a compliance gap at the gate.

Extra Hands During Filing Windows

In the days before the 11th and the 20th, our team runs extended hours and a strict internal queue, so a client who sends data late in the window is still filed on time. Peak-season crush at our end never becomes a late fee at yours.

Familiar with Chennai Jurisdictions and Officers' Expectations

We work with Chennai GST ranges and circles every week, including the jurisdiction covering Korukkupet. We know how local proper officers examine registrations, what supporting documents they routinely call for, and how to present a file so it moves without repeated queries.

Every Return Reviewed by a Senior Consultant

No filing leaves our desk on a junior's judgement alone. A senior GST practitioner reviews your figures, ITC claims and tax computation before submission, so errors are caught at our table and not by the department months later through a notice.

How It Works

Our GST Refund Process

Eligibility and computation

We identify the correct refund category, confirm the two-year limitation from the relevant date, and compute the admissible amount using the formula prescribed under the rules.

Document compilation

Invoices, shipping bills, FIRCs, the LUT and ledger extracts are compiled into the prescribed statements, and gaps that commonly cause deficiency memos are fixed upfront.

RFD-01 filing

The refund application is filed on the portal with all annexures and declarations, and the acknowledgement in RFD-02 is tracked within the statutory fifteen days.

Departmental follow-up

We respond to any deficiency memo in RFD-03 or show cause notice in RFD-08, appear through written submissions, and pursue provisional refund where the category permits.

Sanction and credit

We track the sanction order in RFD-06 and payment advice in RFD-05, confirm the credit in your validated bank account, and archive the complete claim file.

Outcomes

What You Get

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

Marketplace Accounts That Stay Live

E-commerce platforms continuously validate seller GSTINs and filing status. A consistently compliant registration keeps your listings active and settlements flowing, with no sudden suspension of your online sales channel.

Bank and Tender Readiness

Loan applications and government tenders routinely demand GST returns and registration documents. With everything filed and archived properly, you can produce a complete compliance file within hours instead of days.

Advances Treated Correctly

Advances received for services attract GST on receipt while advances for goods generally do not; applying this distinction correctly means you neither prepay tax unnecessarily nor omit a liability that surfaces later with interest.

Lower Total Cost of Compliance

A fixed professional fee is almost always cheaper than the combination of late fees, interest, lost credit and staff hours that informal, last-minute compliance quietly accumulates over a year.

TDS and TCS Credits Converted to Cash

Amounts deducted by government buyers as GST TDS and by marketplaces as TCS are accepted on the portal each period, so money withheld against your GSTIN actually reaches your cash ledger instead of lying unclaimed.

Annual Returns Without the Year-End Scramble

Because monthly data is reconciled as it happens, GSTR-9 preparation before the 31 December due date becomes a review exercise rather than a painful reconstruction of twelve untidy months.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Supplier defaultsSuppliers who stop uploading invoices are identified within the period and pursued before their default becomes your blocked credit.Missing supplier invoices surface only when credit is denied, by which time recovering the amount from the vendor is difficult.
Risk of noticesGSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B reconciled before filing, removing the mismatches that trigger most scrutiny notices.Inconsistent figures across returns quietly build a mismatch history that surfaces later as ASMT-10 scrutiny or a demand notice.
Time costRoughly an hour a month to send data and approve drafts; the portal work, reconciliation and follow-up are ours.Hours every month lost to portal errors, JSON files, OTP failures and reworking figures — usually on the due date itself.
Annual return preparationMonthly reconciliations roll naturally into GSTR-9, filed comfortably before 31 December with figures already agreed through the year.Twelve months of unmatched data reconstructed in December, with differences discovered too late to be corrected cleanly.
Registration and amendmentsQuery-resistant applications prepared correctly the first time, with supporting documents matched to what proper officers actually verify.Repeated clarification memos and resubmissions, with weeks lost because a rent agreement or premises photograph did not meet expectations.
Late fees and interestFilings go in ahead of statutory dates, so the Rs.50-per-day late fee and 18 percent interest never arise.Late fees accumulate silently every delayed day, and interest on unpaid tax runs at 18 percent per annum.

Compliance Watch

GST Developments Worth Knowing — relevant to Korukkupet businesses

A working knowledge of recent instruments and judgments is what separates a defensible filing from a risky one.

GST Council

Budget hotel rooms taxed and costly hospital rooms brought to 5 per cent

47th GST Council Meeting, Chandigarh — 28 and 29 June 2022 · 2022-06-29

The Council recommended withdrawing the exemption on hotel accommodation priced up to one thousand rupees per unit per day and taxing it at 12 per cent, and taxing room rent charged by a hospital, other than intensive care and similar critical care units, where the charge exceeds five thousand rupees per day per patient, at 5 per cent without input tax credit. It also recommended withdrawing the small-consignment exemptions for goods transport agencies and giving transporters a forward-charge option. The changes took effect from 18 July 2022.

What to do about it: Chennai lodges charging under one thousand rupees a night and hospitals with deluxe rooms above five thousand rupees a day both acquired new GST liabilities from 18 July 2022.

Circular

Rate and exemption clarifications on services after the 47th Council

Circular No. 177/09/2022-TRU · 2022-08-03

The Board answered a set of service classification and exemption questions arising from the 47th GST Council meeting. Most importantly for property transactions, it confirmed that the sale of land after levelling and after laying drainage, water and electricity lines remains a sale of land under Schedule III and is outside GST, while development services such as levelling and laying of drainage lines that the developer itself receives from contractors attract GST at the applicable rate. Several other exemption and rate questions on specified services were also settled.

Practical effect: Chennai plot developers can rely on this circular for the position that a plot sale price is not taxable, but must still bear GST on the development works they buy in from contractors.

Portal Advisory

Refund claims move to invoice-based filing without chronological periods

GSTN Advisory dated 8 May 2025 — changes in the refund filing process on the portal · 2025-05-08

GSTN removed the requirement to select a refund period in chronological order for certain refund categories, so a claim need not follow strict sequence, and moved those categories to invoice-based filing. For export of services with payment of tax, supplies to special economic zone units with payment of tax, and deemed export claims by the supplier, the applicant uploads the specific invoices in the relevant statement and those invoices are then locked against a repeat claim. All returns due up to the date of the claim must be filed.

What to do about it: Keep returns current and your export invoice register clean, since refunds are now claimed invoice by invoice and each invoice can be used only once.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

Is there a GST consultant near Korukkupet for gst refund application?
Yes. We serve Korukkupet and the surrounding areas from our office at Porur, Chennai - 600 116, Tamil Nadu, and most GST refund work is completed online — you send documents on WhatsApp and we handle the portal work. If you prefer in-person help, we offer doorstep document pickup across Korukkupet and you are welcome to visit our office. Reach us on +91 - 9600 606 444 between 9 AM and 8 PM, Monday to Saturday.
How long does GST refund RFD-01 take in Korukkupet?
Application filed in 3-5 working days; sanction typically within 60 days. That assumes your documents are complete and there is no departmental query. We start the same day we receive your papers and tell you the realistic completion date upfront rather than an optimistic one. Where the GST portal or the officer causes delay — clarifications, physical verification or system issues — we track it daily and keep you informed on WhatsApp.
I charged CGST and SGST on an invoice that should have carried IGST. How do I fix it?
The law provides a clean remedy without interest. Under Section 77 of the CGST Act and Section 19 of the IGST Act, where a supply was wrongly treated as intra-state instead of inter-state or vice versa, you pay the tax under the correct head and claim refund of the tax paid under the wrong head; no interest is charged on the correct payment. Rule 89(1A) allows the refund application within two years from the date the correct tax is paid. Issue a credit note and corrected invoice, amend GSTR-1, and file RFD-01 under the appropriate category. Our Korukkupet team handles these head-swap corrections regularly; call +91 - 9600 606 444 before the limitation runs.
I export goods after paying IGST. How do I get that tax back?
For export of goods with payment of IGST, no separate RFD-01 is needed. The shipping bill filed with customs is itself treated as the refund application once you file GSTR-1 with correct shipping bill details in Table 6A and pay the tax through GSTR-3B. Customs matches the data from the GST portal with ICEGATE and credits the refund directly to your bank account. Most delays happen because of invoice mismatches between GSTR-1 and the shipping bill, or bank account validation errors, so reconcile both before filing each month.
What documents do I need to attach with a GST refund application?
The documents depend on the refund category. Export refunds under LUT need a statement of invoices with corresponding shipping bill numbers and dates, or FIRC and BRC for service exports. Inverted duty claims need statements of inward and outward supplies with the Rule 89(5) computation. All claims need a declaration that the tax incidence has not been passed on, and claims above Rs.2 lakh require a certificate from a chartered accountant or cost accountant in certain cases. Uploads are limited on the portal, so annexures must be prepared compactly. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 for a category-wise checklist.
I received a deficiency memo RFD-03 against my refund claim. What should I do?
A deficiency memo in RFD-03 means the officer found your application incomplete, and the application is treated as not filed. You cannot reply to an RFD-03; you must file a fresh RFD-01 after curing the defects, and the debited ITC or cash is re-credited to your ledger. Importantly, the fresh application must still fall within the original two-year limitation, so act quickly. Read the memo carefully, fix every listed deficiency, and refile with a covering note. Businesses in Korukkupet that receive repeated memos usually have invoice statement formatting issues that are easy to correct professionally.
What are deemed exports and who claims the refund, the supplier or the buyer?
Deemed exports are notified domestic supplies treated like exports even though goods do not leave India, such as supplies to Export Oriented Units, supplies against Advance Authorisation, and supplies of capital goods against EPCG authorisation. Tax is paid on these supplies, and the refund of that tax can be claimed through RFD-01 by either the recipient or, where the recipient furnishes an undertaking that it will not claim the refund and will not avail ITC, by the supplier. The claim must be filed within two years and supported by the prescribed acknowledgements and undertakings.
My GST refund was rejected by the officer. Do I have any remedy?
Yes. Before rejection, the officer must issue a notice in RFD-08 and consider your reply in RFD-09, so a rejection without hearing you is itself challengeable. Against a rejection order in RFD-06, you can file an appeal in Form APL-01 before the appellate authority within three months of the order. The ITC debited for the rejected claim is re-credited through PMT-03 where applicable. Appeals on refund matters frequently succeed where the rejection was for curable documentation gaps, so preserve every acknowledgement and reply. Professional drafting of the appeal grounds materially improves outcomes.
Customers pay monthly instalments in our jewellery savings scheme. Is GST payable on each instalment?
No. Advances received for the supply of goods are not taxable at the time of receipt, since Notification 66/2017 removed GST on advances for goods for all taxpayers other than composition dealers. GST at 3% therefore becomes payable only when the jewellery is actually supplied and invoiced at the end of the scheme, on the value at that point, with making charges at 5% if billed separately. Keep scheme collections identifiable in your books as customer advances, not sales. Jewellers in Korukkupet running eleven-plus-one schemes should also mind the separate regulatory rules on deposit schemes; call +91 - 9600 606 444 to structure it correctly.
Is there a late fee for filing GSTR-1 after the 11th?
Yes. Late fee for GSTR-1 is Rs.50 per day of delay, and Rs.20 per day where there are no outward supplies, subject to caps linked to your turnover. Although the portal historically collected GSTR-1 late fees through the next GSTR-3B, the liability arises the moment the due date passes. Delayed GSTR-1 also hurts your customers, because your invoices miss their GSTR-2B and their input tax credit gets deferred, which can strain business relationships. Filing by the 11th every month avoids both the cost and the friction.
Is there a last date to claim input tax credit for a financial year?
Yes. Under Section 16(4), ITC for invoices and debit notes of a financial year must be claimed by the earlier of 30 November following the end of that financial year or the date of filing the annual return GSTR-9. So credit on a March 2026 invoice must be taken in a GSTR-3B filed on or before 30 November 2026. Credits discovered after this date are permanently lost, which is why a year-end reconciliation in September or October, comparing books, GSTR-2B and GSTR-3B for the full year, is essential for every business in Korukkupet.
Are any goods exempt from GST when transported by a GTA?
Yes. Transport by a GTA of agricultural produce, milk, salt and foodgrains including flours and pulses, organic manure, newspapers and magazines registered with the Registrar of Newspapers, relief materials for victims of calamities, and defence or military equipment is exempt regardless of freight value. Note that the older exemptions for small consignments, Rs.1,500 for a full truckload and Rs.750 for a single consignee, were withdrawn with effect from 18 July 2022, so ordinary cargo enjoys no value-based relief now. Transporters serving agricultural markets should describe the produce accurately on the consignment note to support the exemption.
Does buying from unregistered dealers attract reverse charge for everyone?
No. The general reverse charge on all unregistered purchases under Section 9(4) was never fully implemented and now applies only to notified classes, principally real estate. A promoter must procure at least eighty percent of inputs and input services from registered suppliers for a project; on any shortfall, the promoter pays 18 percent under RCM, and cement purchased from an unregistered dealer attracts RCM at the rate applicable to cement, 18 percent since the September 2025 rate rationalisation reduced it from 28 percent, irrespective of the eighty percent test. Transfer of development rights and long-term leases to promoters are also covered. An ordinary trader or service provider in Korukkupet buying stationery from an unregistered shop has no Section 9(4) liability at all.
What is the difference between ISD and cross-charge, and when is each used?
They solve different problems. The Input Service Distributor mechanism distributes credit on third-party input services received at the head office but consumed by branches, such as an audit fee or software licence billed centrally; the ISD passes the credit itself through ISD invoices and GSTR-6, without charging tax again. Cross-charge applies where the head office performs a service for branches using its own resources; here the head office makes an outward supply, issues a tax invoice with tax, and the branch claims ITC. With ISD distribution mandatory for common third-party input services from 1 April 2025, businesses must now run both mechanisms side by side, each for its correct category.
Are hospital and clinic charges exempt from GST?
Healthcare services provided by a clinical establishment, an authorised medical practitioner or paramedics are exempt from GST. This covers diagnosis, treatment and care for illness, injury, deformity or pregnancy in any recognised system of medicine in India, and includes transportation of patients by ambulance, which is separately exempt for any provider. Consultation fees, surgery charges, nursing and diagnostic services within this definition carry no GST, which is why hospitals do not charge tax on treatment bills. The exemption attaches to the nature of the service, not the size of the hospital, so both a large corporate hospital and a single-doctor clinic are covered.
My footwear shop sells chappals at Rs.300 and shoes at Rs.4,000 on the same bill. How do I invoice this?
One invoice can comfortably carry both rates. Each pair is tested against the Rs.2,500 sale-value threshold independently, so the chappals are billed at 5% and the Rs.4,000 shoes at 18%, as separate line items under their footwear HSN codes in Chapter 64. Your GSTR-1 HSN summary will then show turnover split across the two rates. Ensure the billing software picks the rate from the item price automatically rather than from a fixed product master, because the same article sold at different price points can legitimately fall in different slabs. A quick POS configuration check prevents months of wrong-rate billing; call +91 - 9600 606 444 to arrange one.
How much time do I get to raise an invoice for services?
A tax invoice for services must be issued within thirty days from the date of supply of the service. For banks, insurers, financial institutions and NBFCs, the limit is forty-five days. Where services are supplied continuously, the invoice follows the contract: if the due date of payment is ascertainable, invoice on or before that date; if not, invoice when payment is received; and if payment is linked to completion of an event or milestone, invoice on or before its completion. Consultants and agencies that bill quarterly should check their contracts against these rules, since late invoicing defers nothing legally.
What is the GST rate on a works contract for a commercial building?
Under GST, a works contract relating to immovable property is treated wholly as a supply of services, and the standard rate is 18 percent on the contract value, with the contractor eligible for input tax credit on cement, steel and other inputs. This applies to construction, fabrication, erection, repair and renovation contracts for factories, offices and commercial buildings. The old VAT-plus-service-tax splitting of material and labour is gone; one rate applies to the whole consideration. Contractors should also note that free-issue materials supplied by the client can affect valuation, so contract drafting deserves attention before quoting.
Which GST office handles Korukkupet businesses?
Businesses in Korukkupet (PIN 600021) generally fall under the CGST Chennai North Commissionerate, with state-jurisdiction cases handled by the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department. Your exact division and range can be confirmed from your GSTIN on the GST portal. We regularly appear before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and hearings, so we know the local practice and documentation preferences.
Do you provide gst refund application for small businesses and proprietorships in Korukkupet?
Yes. A large share of our clients in Korukkupet are proprietors, small traders, shop owners, freelancers and family businesses rather than large companies. The fee of Rs.4,999 and the process are the same regardless of size, and we explain the compliance position in plain language — in Tamil or English — so you understand what is being filed on your behalf and why.
What is the process for GST refund RFD-01?
The process runs in clear stages: Eligibility and computation; Document compilation; RFD-01 filing; Departmental follow-up. A senior consultant reviews your file at each stage rather than passing it to a data-entry desk, and you receive a confirmation with the filed documents once it is complete. You always know which stage your work is at — we update you on WhatsApp instead of leaving you to follow up.
