Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for Balusamy Street, Nanganallur

Nanganallur is a temple-town residential market: jewellery savings schemes, provision stores, tuition centres and clinics spread across the numbered Main Roads and Hindu Colony near the 32-feet Anjaneyar Temple. Most traders here suit the composition scheme below Rs.1.5 crore, but many miss the quarterly CMP-08 payment due on the 18th and the annual GSTR-4 due 30 June. Years of working in and around Nanganallur have shown us where GST trouble actually begins here — supplier defaults, classification doubts and deadlines lost in busy trading weeks. Our GST Notice Reply is built to close precisely those gaps, and the same team supports businesses in Alandur and Adambakkam, each with one point of contact and a compliance calendar maintained on their behalf.

GST jurisdiction for Nanganallur (PIN 600061): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai South Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Nanganallur before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for IT and SaaS Companies in Nanganallur
IT and SaaS services are taxed at 18 percent domestically, but the real complexity is qualifying overseas billing as export under Section 2(6) of the IGST Act: the recipient must be outside India, consideration must arrive in convertible foreign exchange or INR where RBI permits, and the Indian entity and foreign recipient must not be mere establishments of the same person. Marketing or support arms serving a foreign parent risk classification as intermediaries under Section 13(8), making the place of supply India and the income taxable. Supplies to SEZ units are zero-rated with proper endorsements. A specialist structures contracts and invoicing so export status survives departmental scrutiny.
The simplest way to complete GST Notice Reply in Nanganallur is through a local GST practice: one call starts the process, documents move over WhatsApp, and fees begin at Rs.2,999.
Why Us

Why Balusamy Street, Nanganallur Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

WhatsApp Updates at Every Stage

You receive a WhatsApp message when documents are received, when the draft is ready for your approval, and when the return or application is filed, along with the acknowledgement. You never have to call and ask what is happening with your file.

Reverse Charge Tracked, Not Forgotten

Freight paid to transporters, advocate fees, imported services and other notified supplies attract GST under reverse charge, with self-invoicing where the supplier is unregistered. We maintain a running RCM check every period, because this is the liability self-filers most consistently miss.

Ledger Housekeeping on the Portal

Your cash ledger, credit ledger and liability register are reviewed regularly, not just at filing time. Excess balances are flagged for use or refund, and where a genuine slip surfaces, a voluntary payment through DRC-03 settles it before it can mature into a notice.

Deadline Tracking Done for You

GSTR-1 by the 11th, GSTR-3B by the 20th, CMP-08 by the 18th after each quarter — we maintain a compliance calendar for every client and start chasing your data well before the due date, so late fees never enter the picture.

Job Work Movements Tracked Through ITC-04

Goods sent to job workers must move on delivery challans, return within the statutory period, and be reported in ITC-04. We track every outward and return leg for manufacturing clients in Nanganallur, so inputs sent out for processing never quietly convert into a deemed supply carrying tax and interest.

Experience Across Trades and Sectors

Traders, manufacturers, contractors, e-commerce sellers, professionals and service exporters — we have handled GST for all of them. Whatever mix of goods and services your Nanganallur business supplies, the rate, classification and place-of-supply questions have almost certainly crossed our desk before.

How It Works

Our Notice Reply Process

Notice study

We read the notice line by line, identify the section invoked, the periods covered, the exact information sought and the deadline for response.

Data reconciliation

The figures alleged in the notice are reconciled against your filed returns, GSTR-2B and books, so the reply is grounded in verifiable numbers rather than assertions.

Reply drafting

We draft a professional, point-wise reply addressing every allegation, attaching reconciliations, invoices and legal support, and share the draft with you for approval.

Filing and payment

The approved reply is filed on the portal within the deadline. Where a small genuine liability exists, we advise payment through DRC-03 to limit interest and penalty.

Closure tracking

We monitor the portal for the officer's response, attend to any further queries or hearing dates, and pursue the matter until a closure or order is received.

Outcomes

What You Get

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

Bank and Tender Readiness

Loan applications and government tenders routinely demand GST returns and registration documents. With everything filed and archived properly, you can produce a complete compliance file within hours instead of days.

A Professional Face on Every Invoice

Correct, complete tax invoices signal a well-run business to customers, vendors and banks alike, quietly strengthening your credibility in every transaction where your paperwork is seen.

Books and Returns That Agree at Year End

Because turnover in your GST returns is kept aligned with your accounts through the year, income tax filing and statutory audit proceed without the GST-versus-books mismatch queries that now surface routinely through data matching.

Advances Treated Correctly

Advances received for services attract GST on receipt while advances for goods generally do not; applying this distinction correctly means you neither prepay tax unnecessarily nor omit a liability that surfaces later with interest.

Export Benefits Fully Utilised

With the LUT filed at the start of each financial year and refund claims tracked to credit, exporters supply without blocking funds in IGST and recover accumulated credit on schedule.

Growth Without Compliance Anxiety

New branches, new product lines and interstate sales all carry GST consequences. With standing professional support, you expand knowing registrations, invoicing and returns will keep pace with the business.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Due-date trackingA maintained compliance calendar with internal cut-offs days before the 11th and the 20th; we chase you for data, not the other way around.Deadlines remembered from memory or phone alarms; one busy week and the return slips past the due date.
Portal credentials and dataLogins handled by a small engaged team under strict confidentiality, with credentials stored securely and never passed onward.Passwords circulating on chats with freelancers and part-timers, and no accountability for who has accessed your business data.
Goods in transitE-way bills generated correctly and matched to invoices, so consignments pass roadside inspections without detention or penalty.A defective or missing e-way bill can mean detention at a checkpoint, with penalties that dwarf the tax on the consignment.
Late fees and interestFilings go in ahead of statutory dates, so the Rs.50-per-day late fee and 18 percent interest never arise.Late fees accumulate silently every delayed day, and interest on unpaid tax runs at 18 percent per annum.
Annual return preparationMonthly reconciliations roll naturally into GSTR-9, filed comfortably before 31 December with figures already agreed through the year.Twelve months of unmatched data reconstructed in December, with differences discovered too late to be corrected cleanly.
Time costRoughly an hour a month to send data and approve drafts; the portal work, reconciliation and follow-up are ours.Hours every month lost to portal errors, JSON files, OTP failures and reworking figures — usually on the due date itself.

Case Law

A rectification petition on GSTR-2A versus GSTR-3B differences must be decided by a speaking order

Roshan Fruits India (P) Ltd v. Assistant Commissioner (ST) — Madras High Court, W.P. No. 10008 of 2024, decided 16 April 2024 (Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy J.) · 2024-04-16

An assessment order for 2019-20 alleged wrongful availment of input tax credit, and the taxpayer's rectification petition, which annexed a detailed reconciliation between GSTR-2A and GSTR-3B, was simply left undecided by the department. The Madras High Court recorded that the reconciliation had been furnished and directed the officer to consider and dispose of the rectification petition dated 12 March 2024 by a speaking order, after affording a reasonable opportunity to the taxpayer, within one month.

How we apply it: If you have filed a rectification application with a proper 2A versus 3B reconciliation and heard nothing, the department can be compelled to pass a reasoned order.

GST Council

Group of Ministers formed on State cess for natural calamities

30th GST Council Meeting (video conference) — 28 September 2018 (PIB Release ID 1547891) · 2018-09-28

Meeting shortly after the Kerala floods, the Council discussed that State's proposal to impose a cess on SGST to fund rehabilitation and flood-related works. Because GST had removed the States' independent power to levy such a cess, the Council constituted a seven-member Group of Ministers convened by the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, with members from Assam, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab and Uttarakhand, to examine modalities for revenue mobilisation in case of natural calamities and disasters, reporting by 31 October 2018.

How we apply it: This process produced the Kerala flood cess of 2019, the only State-specific GST cess so far, and set the template for how any similar Tamil Nadu levy would have to be approved.

Circular

Procedure when a registration is suspended for return mismatches

Circular No. 145/01/2021-GST dated 11 February 2021 · 2021-02-11

Rule 21A(2A), inserted with effect from 22 December 2020, permits immediate suspension of a registration where a comparison of the returns filed under section 39 with the outward supplies reported in FORM GSTR-1, or with the inward supplies derived from the GSTR-1 filed by the taxpayer's own suppliers, shows significant differences or anomalies indicating contravention of the Act. CBIC directed that the taxpayer be intimated in FORM GST REG-31, or by email until that form is available on the portal, and be given thirty days to explain, after which the suspension is revoked or cancellation proceeds.

How we apply it: A suspension notice must be answered within thirty days with a reconciliation, because ignoring the REG-31 intimation leads straight to cancellation.

Already Holding the Notice? Read It in About a Minute

Upload the PDF to our free GST Notice Analyser. It identifies which of 34 notice types you have, pulls out the DIN, GSTIN and tax period, reads the reply date printed on the notice and tells you plainly whether that date has already passed — along with the documents and reconciliations you will need. No payment, no account. If the notice does not state a date we can read, it says so rather than guessing one for you.

The analyser reports what your notice says and the statutory position for that form. It is not a substitute for a consultant reading your actual records, and a reply should be reviewed before you file it.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

How long does GST notice reply take in Nanganallur?
Draft reply in 3-5 working days. That assumes your documents are complete and there is no departmental query. We start the same day we receive your papers and tell you the realistic completion date upfront rather than an optimistic one. Where the GST portal or the officer causes delay — clarifications, physical verification or system issues — we track it daily and keep you informed on WhatsApp.
Do you provide GST notice reply for businesses on Balusamy Street?
Yes. We serve businesses on and around Balusamy Street in Nanganallur — shops, offices, godowns and home-run businesses alike. Document pickup can be arranged at your premises, or you can send everything on WhatsApp and complete notice reply without leaving your counter. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 and mention your location; a consultant will confirm the fee and timeline immediately.
How do I check whether any GST notices have been issued to my business?
Log in to gst.gov.in and go to Services, then User Services, then View Notices and Orders for registration-related communications. Crucially, adjudication notices such as ASMT-10, DRC-01A and DRC-01 appear under a separate tab called View Additional Notices and Orders, which many taxpayers never open. Also verify that the email and mobile number on your registration are current, since the portal sends alerts there. We advise Nanganallur businesses to check both tabs at least once a month, because a reply deadline starts running from the date of issue on the portal, not from when you happen to see it.
What imprisonment terms does GST law prescribe, and which offences are non-bailable?
Section 132 links punishment to the amount involved: imprisonment up to five years with fine where the tax evaded or credit misused exceeds Rs.5 crore, up to three years where it exceeds Rs.2 crore, and up to one year for the Rs.1 crore to Rs.2 crore band, which after the Finance Act 2023 changes survives only for the offence of issuing invoices without supply. A repeat conviction can attract up to five years regardless of amount. Offences involving supply without invoice, invoices without supply, credit from such invoices, and collected-but-not-deposited tax are cognizable and non-bailable when the amount exceeds Rs.5 crore; everything else is non-cognizable and bailable. Courts take cognizance only with the Commissioner's previous sanction.
My GST registration was rejected in REG-05 after a clarification notice. Can I apply again?
Yes. A rejection order in Form REG-05 does not bar you from applying afresh. You can file a new registration application after curing the defects the officer pointed out, such as an incomplete rental agreement, mismatched address proof or missing authorisation letter. Alternatively, if you believe the rejection was wrong, you can challenge the order by filing an appeal in Form APL-01 within three months. For most small businesses a corrected fresh application is faster than an appeal. ChennaiGST reviews the rejection reasons first and then recommends the quicker route for your case.
What happens if I ignore a GSTR-3A notice from the GST department?
If the return is not filed within fifteen days, the officer can complete a best judgment assessment under Section 62 and pass an order in Form ASMT-13, estimating your liability from GSTR-1 data, e-way bills and bank information. Such estimates are usually far higher than the actual dues. The assessment is deemed withdrawn if you file the valid return within sixty days of the order, on payment of late fee and interest. Beyond that, the demand becomes recoverable. Several traders in Nanganallur have faced bank account attachment for ignored GSTR-3A notices, so act within the fifteen-day window.
I missed the deadline to reply to a GST notice. What are my options now?
Act immediately, because delay narrows your options. If no order has been passed yet, file a belated reply with a condonation request explaining the delay and appear at the personal hearing; officers frequently take late replies on record before adjudicating. If an ex parte order has already been issued, you can file an appeal in Form APL-01 within three months of the order, paying the mandatory pre-deposit of 10 percent of the disputed tax. Many Nanganallur taxpayers discover notices only after the order stage because they never checked the Additional Notices tab, so a quick portal review is the first step.
Is everyone facing GST prosecution eligible to apply for compounding?
No. The statute excludes several categories. A person who has already been allowed to compound once in respect of the specified serious offences cannot compound again. Persons accused of issuing invoices without any supply of goods or services, the classic fake billing offence, were excluded from compounding altogether by the Finance Act 2023, and anyone convicted by a court under the GST law is also barred. Notably, the same 2023 amendments removed the earlier bar on compounding where the conduct was also an offence under another law, so that ground no longer disqualifies an applicant. Eligibility should be assessed before paying the underlying dues, since payment is a precondition but not a guarantee of compounding.
What are the exact steps to file a DRC-03 voluntary payment on the GST portal?
Log in and go to Services, then User Services, then My Applications, choose Intimation of Voluntary Payment DRC-03 and click New Application. Select the cause of payment, such as voluntary, show cause notice, audit or annual return, pick the section and financial year, and enter the tax, interest and penalty amounts head-wise under IGST, CGST and SGST. A saved draft remains available for fifteen days. Offset the amounts from your ledgers, sign with DSC or EVC, and download the ARN acknowledgement. Our Nanganallur office files DRC-03 the same day for clients; call +91 - 9600 606 444.
How much time does the GST department have to issue a demand under Section 73?
For a Section 73 demand, the adjudication order must be passed within three years from the due date of the annual return for the financial year concerned, and the show cause notice must be issued at least three months before that deadline. For Section 74 fraud cases, the order deadline is five years with the notice issued at least six months earlier. For tax periods from FY 2024-25 onwards, a new common provision in Section 74A applies with its own timelines. Always check limitation first; notices issued beyond these dates can be challenged as time-barred, which ChennaiGST examines in every Nanganallur demand case.
How will I know my scrutiny reply has been accepted by the GST officer?
If your explanation in ASMT-11 is found acceptable, the officer issues Form ASMT-12 informing you that the discrepancies stand explained and no further action is required on those points. The order appears in your Additional Notices and Orders tab on the portal. Keep the ASMT-12 safely with your reconciliation working papers, because the same period can still come up in a later audit and the closure order is your best shield. If instead the officer is not satisfied, expect a DRC-01A or show cause notice. Many Nanganallur clients receive ASMT-12 within weeks when the reply is complete and well-annexed.
Is the late fee charged on delayed returns the same thing as a penalty?
No, they are legally distinct. Late fee under Section 47 is an automatic, fixed daily charge for filing a return after its due date, computed by the portal and payable in cash before the return is accepted; no officer discretion or notice is involved. Penalty, under provisions such as Sections 122 to 125, is imposed through adjudication for specified offences, requires a show cause notice and hearing, and can be contested or reduced. Interest under Section 50 is a third, separate levy compensating for delayed payment. A delayed return with tax due can therefore attract all three simultaneously, each on its own footing.
My footwear shop sells chappals at Rs.300 and shoes at Rs.4,000 on the same bill. How do I invoice this?
One invoice can comfortably carry both rates. Each pair is tested against the Rs.2,500 sale-value threshold independently, so the chappals are billed at 5% and the Rs.4,000 shoes at 18%, as separate line items under their footwear HSN codes in Chapter 64. Your GSTR-1 HSN summary will then show turnover split across the two rates. Ensure the billing software picks the rate from the item price automatically rather than from a fixed product master, because the same article sold at different price points can legitimately fall in different slabs. A quick POS configuration check prevents months of wrong-rate billing; call +91 - 9600 606 444 to arrange one.
What are the GST rates on gold, silver and diamond jewellery?
The special rates on precious metals were retained in the GST 2.0 restructuring. Gold, silver and articles of jewellery attract 3 percent GST, rough and unworked diamonds attract 0.25 percent, and jewellery making charges billed separately attract 5 percent. When a jeweller bills a customer, the metal value and making charges can appear as separate line items with their respective rates on the same tax invoice. Old gold purchased from an unregistered customer in exchange transactions does not attract GST in the customer's hands, but valuation of the net supply must be documented carefully.
What GST rate applies to cars and two-wheelers now?
Small cars, meaning petrol cars up to 1200cc and diesel cars up to 1500cc with length not exceeding 4 metres, attract 18 percent GST, down sharply from the earlier 28 percent plus cess. Larger cars, SUVs above these specifications, attract the 40 percent rate, but with the compensation cess gone, the overall burden on most of them is still lower than before. Motorcycles up to 350cc are at 18 percent, while those above 350cc attract 40 percent. Electric vehicles continue at a concessional 5 percent. Dealers must also apply these rates to demo vehicle sales.
Which goods and services attract the new 40 percent GST rate?
The 40 percent rate is confined to luxury and demerit supplies. It covers aerated waters, caffeinated and other sugary carbonated beverages, large cars beyond the small-car specifications, motorcycles above 350cc, yachts, personal aircraft, and specified actionable claims such as betting, casinos and online money gaming. Pan masala and tobacco products continue under their earlier levy structure until the compensation cess obligations are discharged, after which they move to the 40 percent rate as notified. If your business deals in any of these lines, pricing and working capital need careful planning.
What is the difference between the electronic cash ledger and the electronic credit ledger?
The electronic cash ledger reflects actual money you have deposited through challans, plus TDS and TCS credits you have accepted; it can pay tax, interest, penalty, late fee and any other amount. The electronic credit ledger reflects input tax credit claimed through your returns, and it can be used only for paying output tax, never for interest, penalty or late fee. Both are visible under Services, then Ledgers, after login. Refund of an excess cash balance is possible, while credit is refundable only in specified cases such as exports and inverted duty structure.
Which educational services are actually exempt from GST?
The exemption is confined to an educational institution as defined, meaning one providing pre-school education, education up to higher secondary school or equivalent, education as part of a curriculum for obtaining a qualification recognised by Indian law, or an approved vocational education course. Services by such institutions to their students, and specified input services to schools such as transport, catering and security, are exempt. Everything outside this boundary is taxable: private tuition, test preparation, hobby classes, skill courses without recognised certification, and training by ed-tech companies. The recognition of the qualification under Indian law is the decisive test, not the subject taught.
What is the process for GST notice reply?
The process runs in clear stages: Notice study; Data reconciliation; Reply drafting; Filing and payment. A senior consultant reviews your file at each stage rather than passing it to a data-entry desk, and you receive a confirmation with the filed documents once it is complete. You always know which stage your work is at — we update you on WhatsApp instead of leaving you to follow up.
What documents are required for GST notice reply in Nanganallur?
For GST notice reply you will generally need: Copy of the notice received, with its reference number and date, GST portal login credentials, GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B filed copies for the periods in question, GSTR-2A and GSTR-2B data for the relevant periods, Sales and purchase registers for the periods covered. The exact list depends on your constitution — proprietorship, partnership, LLP or company — and on the specifics of your case. Send what you have on WhatsApp to +91 - 9600 606 444 and we will confirm within the same working day exactly what else is needed, so nothing is rejected later for a missing paper.
Can I get GST notice reply done online without visiting the office?
Yes, the entire process can be handled online. You share scanned documents on WhatsApp or email, we prepare and file everything on the GST portal, and you receive the acknowledgement and filed copies digitally. Businesses in Nanganallur regularly complete notice reply with us without a single office visit. If a physical verification or personal hearing is required by the department, we guide you through it.
