Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for 3rd Street, Padi

Businesses in Padi looking for GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B Monthly Filing want two things: work done correctly and someone answerable when questions come. Padi is an auto-component manufacturing pocket anchored by Lucas TVS and allied plants along MTH Road near the Padi flyover, feeding a chain of machining shops, tool rooms and industrial suppliers towards Korattur and Ambattur. Tier-2 vendors here must issue e-invoices once turnover crosses Rs.5 crore and reconcile OEM debit and credit notes promptly to protect input tax credit. We serve this belt — including Ambattur and Villivakkam — with fixed fees quoted upfront, a written document checklist, and filings completed ahead of statutory due dates. Every acknowledgement is shared the day it is generated, and our support continues if the department raises any query on work we have filed.

GST jurisdiction for Padi (PIN 600050): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai North Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Padi before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for Restaurants and Cloud Kitchens in Padi
Restaurant service is taxed at 5 percent without input tax credit, so GST paid on rent, kitchen equipment and packaging is a cost your menu pricing must absorb. Orders routed through Swiggy or Zomato fall under Section 9(5), where the platform itself pays the tax, yet you must still disclose those supplies separately in GSTR-1, keeping direct billing and aggregator billing distinct. A cloud kitchen running several brands from one Padi address needs one registration with disciplined brand-wise invoicing, not separate GSTINs. A specialist splits the two order streams correctly every month and prevents double taxation of aggregator sales. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 to review your setup.
Yes, professional GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B Monthly Filing is available in Padi starting at Rs.749. The process is handled end to end — documents over WhatsApp, senior-reviewed preparation, portal filing and same-day acknowledgement sharing.
Why Us

Why 3rd Street, Padi Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

Every Return Reviewed by a Senior Consultant

No filing leaves our desk on a junior's judgement alone. A senior GST practitioner reviews your figures, ITC claims and tax computation before submission, so errors are caught at our table and not by the department months later through a notice.

Composition Scheme Compliance Without Slips

Composition dealers have their own rulebook — CMP-08 every quarter, GSTR-4 annually by 30 June, bills of supply instead of tax invoices, and a turnover ceiling that must be watched. We handle each of these correctly so the scheme's simplicity never turns into a violation.

Extra Hands During Filing Windows

In the days before the 11th and the 20th, our team runs extended hours and a strict internal queue, so a client who sends data late in the window is still filed on time. Peak-season crush at our end never becomes a late fee at yours.

QRMP Managed Properly, Not Just Opted Into

Quarterly filing still demands monthly attention — IFF uploads so your buyers see their credit on time, and tax payment through PMT-06 by the 25th for the first two months of each quarter. We run that monthly rhythm so QRMP saves you effort without creating gaps.

E-Commerce Seller Reconciliation, Including TCS

Sellers on Amazon, Flipkart and other marketplaces face a three-way match between marketplace reports, GSTR-1 and the TCS the operator deposits against your GSTIN. We reconcile all three every period and accept the TCS credit, so sellers in Padi never leave marketplace deductions unclaimed.

E-Invoice and E-Way Bill Fluency

E-invoicing is mandatory once turnover crosses Rs.5 crore and e-way bills apply to goods movements above Rs.50,000. We set up, train and troubleshoot both systems, so your despatches from Padi are never held up by a compliance gap at the gate.

How It Works

Our Monthly Returns Process

Monthly data collection

At month end we remind you and collect sales invoices, purchase bills and credit notes in whatever format you maintain, including Excel, Tally exports or scanned copies.

GSTR-1 preparation and filing

We prepare invoice-wise outward supply details, validate GSTINs of your B2B customers, summarise B2C supplies and file GSTR-1 on the portal before the 11th.

ITC reconciliation with GSTR-2B

We download your auto-drafted GSTR-2B, match it against purchase records, and claim only eligible input tax credit so that mismatches do not trigger scrutiny notices later.

Tax computation and confirmation

We compute net tax payable after ITC set-off, share the working with you for approval, and generate the payment challan for any cash liability.

GSTR-3B filing and reporting

After your confirmation and tax payment, we file GSTR-3B before the 20th and send you both filed acknowledgements along with a one-page summary of the month.

Outcomes

What You Get

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

Annual Returns Without the Year-End Scramble

Because monthly data is reconciled as it happens, GSTR-9 preparation before the 31 December due date becomes a review exercise rather than a painful reconstruction of twelve untidy months.

Stronger Standing with Corporate Buyers

Large buyers check vendor GST compliance before releasing payments and renewing contracts. A clean filing record with timely GSTR-1 uploads keeps your invoices reflecting in their GSTR-2B and your payments unblocked.

Fewer Errors at the Billing Counter

Your billing staff are guided on invoice fields, rates and series discipline, so mistakes are prevented where they originate — at the counter — instead of being repaired later in the returns.

A Professional Face on Every Invoice

Correct, complete tax invoices signal a well-run business to customers, vendors and banks alike, quietly strengthening your credibility in every transaction where your paperwork is seen.

Time Back for Your Actual Business

The hours you or your accountant spent wrestling with the portal, JSON errors and reconciliations every month return to sales, operations and customers, while trained hands manage the compliance in the background.

Better Cash Flow Planning

You know your expected GST outflow days before the 20th, not on the night of filing. That advance visibility lets you plan payments, collections and bank balances instead of scrambling for funds at the deadline.

Portal credentials and dataLogins handled by a small engaged team under strict confidentiality, with credentials stored securely and never passed onward.Passwords circulating on chats with freelancers and part-timers, and no accountability for who has accessed your business data.
Input tax creditPurchase register matched against GSTR-2B each period, with defaulting suppliers chased so eligible credit is actually captured.Credit claimed from books alone; mismatches with GSTR-2B mean lost credit or excess claims that invite departmental queries.
Annual return preparationMonthly reconciliations roll naturally into GSTR-9, filed comfortably before 31 December with figures already agreed through the year.Twelve months of unmatched data reconstructed in December, with differences discovered too late to be corrected cleanly.
Record keepingEvery return, challan, acknowledgement and working paper archived in an organised folder, retrievable in minutes years later.Documents scattered across email, downloads and old phones; assembling records for a bank or an audit takes days.
Due-date trackingA maintained compliance calendar with internal cut-offs days before the 11th and the 20th; we chase you for data, not the other way around.Deadlines remembered from memory or phone alarms; one busy week and the return slips past the due date.
Refund claimsRFD-01 filed with complete statements and annexures, tracked from ARN to bank credit, with any deficiency memo answered promptly.Incomplete claims bounce back as deficiency memos while the refund sits unclaimed for months and working capital stays blocked.

GST Support on 3rd Street, Padi

3rd Street is a residential street in Padi, about 1.2 km south-west of the centre of Padi. The same consultant covers the streets immediately around it — 4th Street (about 50 m); 1st Main Road (about 100 m); Thirumangalam – Mogappair Road (about 100 m); Seethakathi Street (about 250 m) — so a site visit on 3rd Street can usually be combined with other work in Padi on the same trip. For GST purposes an address on 3rd Street falls under the Chennai North CGST Commissionerate, and the Padi pincode is 600050.

Circular

Mid-day meal and anganwadi catering treated as exempt

Circular No. 149/05/2021-GST dated 17.06.2021 · 2021-06-17

CBIC clarified that serving food in schools under the mid-day meal programme is exempt from GST, and that the exemption extends to pre-schools and anganwadis, which are covered within the meaning of an educational institution providing pre-school education. It further clarified that the exemption applies whether the meals are funded by government grants or by corporate donations, since the entry does not distinguish by source of funding. The clarification protected non-profit caterers running school feeding programmes from demands.

What it means for you: Chennai caterers running school or anganwadi meal contracts are exempt, but should keep the scheme documentation on file to answer any scrutiny.

Portal Advisory

30-day e-invoice reporting window extended to Rs 10 crore taxpayers

GSTN Advisory, November 2024 — 30-day IRP reporting limit for AATO Rs 10 crore and above · 2024-11

GSTN advised that from 1 April 2025, taxpayers with annual aggregate turnover of Rs 10 crore and above cannot report e-invoices on the Invoice Registration Portals beyond 30 days from the document date. The restriction, earlier applicable only to very large taxpayers of Rs 100 crore and above, covers invoices, credit notes and debit notes. The IRP validation simply rejects documents older than 30 days, so late reporting becomes impossible.

What to do about it: Automate same-day or same-week IRN generation, because an invoice missed beyond 30 days cannot be e-invoiced at all and endangers the buyer's ITC.

AAR Ruling

Agricultural seedling trays are plastic articles taxable at 18 percent

Saro Enterprises - AAR Tamil Nadu (2018), upheld by AAAR Tamil Nadu, order dated 6 February 2019 · 2018

The applicant made polypropylene and recycled plastic trays used by farmers to raise paddy and vegetable seedlings, and argued that they were agricultural implements. The Authority held that the trays are other articles of plastic under heading 3926 90 99 and are taxable at 9 percent central tax and 9 percent State tax. Use in agriculture does not by itself bring a product within the exempt agricultural implements entry, and the material and the tariff description prevail over the end use.

Practical effect: Chennai suppliers to the farm sector cannot assume exemption merely because the buyer uses the product in agriculture.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

What is the process for GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B monthly filing?
The process runs in clear stages: Monthly data collection; GSTR-1 preparation and filing; ITC reconciliation with GSTR-2B; Tax computation and confirmation. A senior consultant reviews your file at each stage rather than passing it to a data-entry desk, and you receive a confirmation with the filed documents once it is complete. You always know which stage your work is at — we update you on WhatsApp instead of leaving you to follow up.
Do you provide gst return filing for small businesses and proprietorships in Padi?
Yes. A large share of our clients in Padi are proprietors, small traders, shop owners, freelancers and family businesses rather than large companies. The fee of Rs.749/month and the process are the same regardless of size, and we explain the compliance position in plain language — in Tamil or English — so you understand what is being filed on your behalf and why.
I made a mistake in GSTR-3B. Can I revise it?
No, GSTR-3B cannot be revised once filed. The GST law allows corrections only through adjustments in the returns of subsequent tax periods. If you under-reported tax, pay the difference with 18 percent interest in the next GSTR-3B or through Form DRC-03. If you over-reported, adjust it in a later month within the time limits allowed. Errors in GSTR-1 can be amended in the following period's return. Because corrections have deadlines, it is best to have the error reviewed quickly; our team in Padi can assess it the same day.
What happens if I miss filing GSTR-3B this month?
A late fee of Rs.50 per day (Rs.20 per day for a nil return) accrues automatically, capped based on your turnover, and interest at 18 percent per annum applies on tax paid late. You also cannot file the next period's GSTR-1 until the pending GSTR-3B is filed, since returns must be filed sequentially. If two consecutive tax periods remain unfiled, e-way bill generation gets blocked, and continued default can lead to suspension of your GSTIN. File the pending return at the earliest; call +91 - 9600 606 444 and we can clear the backlog quickly.
How do I handle GST when expired medicines are returned to the distributor?
CBIC Circular 72/46/2018 gives two routes for time-expired drugs. The return can be treated as a fresh supply by the person returning them, with a tax invoice if that person is registered, or the original supplier can issue a credit note under Section 34; the tax adjustment on a credit note is available only if it is reported within the statutory window, now 30 November following the financial year of supply. Where the manufacturer ultimately destroys the expired stock, input tax credit relating to the destroyed goods must be reversed under Section 17(5)(h). Pharmacies should reconcile expiry returns quarterly; call +91 - 9600 606 444 for help.
I generate e-invoices. Do I still have to prepare GSTR-1 separately?
If your aggregate turnover exceeds Rs.5 crore, e-invoicing is mandatory and the invoice details reported to the Invoice Registration Portal auto-populate into your GSTR-1. However, auto-population is not a substitute for review. B2C sales, exports without IRN issues, credit notes, amendments and advances still need to be verified or added manually before submission. We review the auto-drafted GSTR-1 against your books each month so that what is filed matches your accounts exactly. If you have just crossed the Rs.5 crore threshold, call +91 - 9600 606 444 and we will set up e-invoicing correctly.
How exactly do I pay RCM in my return and claim it back as credit?
Report the taxable value and tax in Table 3.1(d) of GSTR-3B; this liability must be discharged in cash through the electronic cash ledger, because input tax credit cannot be used to pay reverse charge dues. In the same return, claim the amount as ITC in Table 4(A)(2) or 4(A)(3), so the net impact is usually nil. RCM invoices from registered suppliers like GTAs appear in GSTR-2B, but credit for unregistered-supplier RCM rests on your self-invoice, and Circular 211/5/2024 confirms the Section 16(4) deadline runs from the year of that self-invoice. Businesses in Padi that skip the 3.1(d) reporting but claim the credit invite automatic mismatch flags.
Can my company claim ITC on GST paid to a contractor building our new office?
Generally no. Section 17(5) blocks input tax credit on works contract services and on goods or services used for construction of immovable property on your own account, even when the building is used for business. The exception is plant and machinery, so credit on GST paid for installing machinery, equipment or apparatus fixed to earth remains available. The block does not apply within the construction chain itself: a sub-contractor's works contract service supplied to the main contractor is creditable for the main contractor, since it is used for an onward works contract supply. Classifying civil costs correctly during a project saves disputes at audit.
Is there a late fee if I delay the monthly PMT-06 payment under QRMP?
No late fee applies to a delayed PMT-06 deposit, because late fee is linked only to returns. However, interest at 18 percent per annum is payable on the shortfall for the delay period. Note that if you used the fixed sum method and paid the pre-filled 35 percent amount on time, no interest applies for the first two months even if actual liability was higher, provided the balance is paid in the quarterly GSTR-3B by its due date. Late fee does apply if the quarterly GSTR-1 or GSTR-3B itself is filed late.
Our company spends on CSR activities. Is the GST paid on those purchases creditable?
Not any more. Section 17(5)(fa), inserted with effect from 1 October 2023, specifically blocks input tax credit on goods or services used for corporate social responsibility activities under Section 135 of the Companies Act. Before this date the position was contested, with advance rulings going both ways, so credits availed for earlier periods may still be defensible on merits if questioned. For current periods, GST on CSR purchases, whether school furniture donated or medical supplies distributed, is a cost. Companies in Padi should route CSR procurement through a separate expense code so their monthly reconciliation automatically excludes these invoices from the ITC claim.
Who has to file the GSTR-9 annual return?
GSTR-9 is the annual return for regular taxpayers, consolidating the outward supplies, input tax credit and tax paid reported through the year's GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B filings. As per CBIC notifications, filing is optional for taxpayers with aggregate turnover up to Rs.2 crore for the relevant financial year, and mandatory above that. Composition taxpayers file GSTR-4 instead, and e-commerce operators collecting TCS under Section 52 file GSTR-9B. Even where optional, filing GSTR-9 is often advisable because it locks your annual position before any departmental scrutiny. We prepare GSTR-9 for businesses across Padi every year.
What details must a GST tax invoice compulsorily contain?
Rule 46 of the CGST Rules prescribes the mandatory contents: your name, address and GSTIN; a consecutive serial number not exceeding sixteen characters, unique for the financial year; the date of issue; the recipient's name, address and GSTIN if registered; the HSN or SAC code; description, quantity and unit; total and taxable value; any discount; the rate and amount of CGST, SGST or IGST shown separately; place of supply with the state name for inter-state supplies; a declaration where tax is payable on reverse charge; and signature or digital signature of the supplier. Missing fields make the invoice defective and can jeopardise your buyer's credit.
We pay for foreign software subscriptions and overseas consultants. Is GST payable in India?
Yes. Import of services, meaning services from a supplier located outside India received by a person in India for business, attracts IGST under reverse charge in the recipient's hands, payable in cash and claimable as ITC if eligible. This catches cloud software, foreign professional fees, overseas advertising and licence fees. Two nuances matter: services from a related foreign party, such as your parent company, are taxable even without consideration under Schedule I, and OIDAR services supplied to unregistered consumers are taxed in the foreign supplier's own hands, not under RCM. Startups and IT firms in Padi paying by card frequently miss these entries; reconcile foreign remittances against RCM paid annually.
What are the most common mistakes Chennai businesses make with GST refunds and ITC?
The recurring ones we see across Padi are: missing the two-year limitation for RFD-01, mismatches between GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and shipping bill data that stall export refunds, forgetting the April LUT renewal, claiming ITC on invoices absent from GSTR-2B, ignoring blocked credits under Section 17(5), breaching the 180-day supplier payment rule, and treating deficiency memos as rejections instead of refiling within limitation. Each of these is preventable with a simple monthly checklist and a year-end reconciliation. ChennaiGST builds exactly this discipline into its retainer engagements; call +91 - 9600 606 444 if any of these sounds familiar.
How do I track the status of a grievance ticket or any ARN I have on the GST portal?
For grievance tickets, open selfservice.gstsystem.in and use Check Status by entering the ticket reference number; the screen shows whether it is open, under processing or resolved, with the resolution comments. For applications filed on the main portal, log in and use Services, then Track Application Status, choosing the module and entering the ARN, or open My Applications to see every application with its case detail folder, notices and replies in one place. Diarise every ARN the day it is generated, because reply windows run from portal timestamps. ChennaiGST maintains an ARN tracker for every client engagement.
Which everyday goods now attract 5 percent GST?
The 5 percent slab now covers most household essentials that earlier fell in the 12 or 18 percent brackets: soaps, shampoos, toothpaste and toothbrushes, hair oil, bicycles, kitchen utensils and tableware. Packaged foods such as butter, ghee, cheese, namkeens, sauces, pasta, biscuits and chocolates are also at 5 percent, as are most medicines, medical devices and agricultural machinery. Apparel and footwear priced up to Rs.2,500 per piece attract 5 percent as well. Retailers in Padi should update billing software rate masters item by item rather than assuming old rates continue.
Why is my e-way bill generation blocked on the portal?
Under Rule 138E, the e-way bill facility is blocked when a taxpayer has not filed GSTR-3B (or CMP-08 for composition dealers) for two or more consecutive tax periods. Since an e-way bill is mandatory for moving goods worth more than Rs.50,000, blocking effectively halts dispatches. The remedy is straightforward: file the pending returns with late fee and interest, after which the facility unblocks automatically, usually the next day. Transporters and suppliers can also be affected when a counterparty GSTIN is blocked. We clear return backlogs for businesses in Padi on priority; call +91 - 9600 606 444.
My shop's landlord in Padi is not GST registered. Do I pay GST on the rent myself?
Yes, if you are registered. With effect from 10 October 2024, renting of any immovable property other than a residential dwelling by an unregistered person to a registered person was notified under reverse charge, so a registered tenant must pay 18 percent on the rent in cash through GSTR-3B and can claim ITC subject to the usual conditions. Composition taxpayers were subsequently excluded from this entry with effect from 16 January 2025. You must also raise a monthly self-invoice since the landlord is unregistered. Many shop and godown tenants in Padi remain unaware of this recent entry; call +91 - 9600 606 444 to regularise past months.
How long does GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B monthly filing take in Padi?
Filed before the 11th and 20th of every month. That assumes your documents are complete and there is no departmental query. We start the same day we receive your papers and tell you the realistic completion date upfront rather than an optimistic one. Where the GST portal or the officer causes delay — clarifications, physical verification or system issues — we track it daily and keep you informed on WhatsApp.
Do you provide GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B monthly filing for businesses on 3rd Street?
Yes. We serve businesses on and around 3rd Street in Padi — shops, offices, godowns and home-run businesses alike. Document pickup can be arranged at your premises, or you can send everything on WhatsApp and complete monthly returns without leaving your counter. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 and mention your location; a consultant will confirm the fee and timeline immediately.
Are there any hidden charges for GSTR-1 & GSTR-3B monthly filing?
No. The fee quoted before we start is the fee you pay. Government fees, portal charges or statutory late fees, where they apply, are separate and disclosed to you in advance with the exact amount. We issue a proper GST invoice for our professional fee. If the scope of work changes — for example, an unexpected notice or additional periods — we tell you the revised fee before doing anything further.
