Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for Estate 1st Main Road, Perungudi

Perungudi anchors the northern OMR IT corridor, with tech parks along Rajiv Gandhi Salai and Dr. MGR Salai at Kandanchavadi and a service ecosystem of caterers, facility managers and transport vendors. IT exporters need annual LUT renewal in RFD-11 and refunds of unutilised ITC on zero-rated supplies, while vendors billing SEZ units must document endorsed invoices correctly. Years of working in and around Perungudi have shown us where GST trouble actually begins here — supplier defaults, classification doubts and deadlines lost in busy trading weeks. Our GST Notice Reply is built to close precisely those gaps, and the same team supports businesses in Thoraipakkam and Taramani, each with one point of contact and a compliance calendar maintained on their behalf.

GST jurisdiction for Perungudi (PIN 600096): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai South Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Perungudi before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for Professional Services Firms in Perungudi
Professional firms bill at 18 percent, but the mechanics differ by profession: services of advocates to business entities are taxed in the client's hands under reverse charge, while chartered accountants, company secretaries and architects charge tax on their own invoices. Fees received in advance are taxable on receipt, and retainers must be invoiced within the time limits of Section 31(2). Amounts recovered from clients as a pure agent, such as government fees paid on their behalf, stay outside taxable value only if every condition of Rule 33 is met and documented. A specialist sets up retainer invoicing, pure agent documentation and branch cross-charges correctly; call +91 - 9600 606 444 to discuss your firm.
Yes, small businesses in Perungudi can use professional GST Notice Reply affordably — fees start at Rs.2,999, which is usually far less than one period of late fees and lost input tax credit.
Why Us

Why Estate 1st Main Road, Perungudi Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

ITC Maximisation Within the Law

We match your purchase register against GSTR-2B every period, follow up on invoices your suppliers have not uploaded, and ensure every rupee of eligible input tax credit is claimed. Clients routinely recover credit they were silently losing under self-filing.

Zero Tolerance for Late Fees and Interest

GSTR-3B late fees run at Rs.50 per day and interest at 18 percent per annum on unpaid tax. Our internal cut-offs sit days ahead of statutory due dates precisely so that our clients never hand the department a rupee they did not owe.

Notice-Proof Filing Discipline

Most GST notices trace back to mismatches between GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B. We reconcile these before filing, not after a notice arrives, so your returns are internally consistent and the most common triggers for ASMT-10 scrutiny simply never appear.

Cancelled GSTIN? We Handle Revocation Too

A registration cancelled for non-filing is not the end of the road. We bring the pending returns up to date, clear the dues and file the revocation application in REG-21 within the permitted window, restoring suspended and cancelled GSTINs to active status.

E-Commerce Seller Reconciliation, Including TCS

Sellers on Amazon, Flipkart and other marketplaces face a three-way match between marketplace reports, GSTR-1 and the TCS the operator deposits against your GSTIN. We reconcile all three every period and accept the TCS credit, so sellers in Perungudi never leave marketplace deductions unclaimed.

Multi-GSTIN and Branch Coordination

Businesses with registrations in more than one State, or multiple branches under one PAN, face cross-charge, stock transfer and input service distribution questions that single-GSTIN firms never see. We keep all your registrations consistent with each other, not just compliant individually.

How It Works

Our Notice Reply Process

Notice study

We read the notice line by line, identify the section invoked, the periods covered, the exact information sought and the deadline for response.

Data reconciliation

The figures alleged in the notice are reconciled against your filed returns, GSTR-2B and books, so the reply is grounded in verifiable numbers rather than assertions.

Reply drafting

We draft a professional, point-wise reply addressing every allegation, attaching reconciliations, invoices and legal support, and share the draft with you for approval.

Filing and payment

The approved reply is filed on the portal within the deadline. Where a small genuine liability exists, we advise payment through DRC-03 to limit interest and penalty.

Closure tracking

We monitor the portal for the officer's response, attend to any further queries or hearing dates, and pursue the matter until a closure or order is received.

Outcomes

What You Get

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

Lower Total Cost of Compliance

A fixed professional fee is almost always cheaper than the combination of late fees, interest, lost credit and staff hours that informal, last-minute compliance quietly accumulates over a year.

A Clean GSTIN That Stays Active

Continuous filing protects you from the suspension and cancellation proceedings that hit chronic non-filers, so your registration, e-way bill access and ability to issue tax invoices are never suddenly cut off.

Fewer Errors at the Billing Counter

Your billing staff are guided on invoice fields, rates and series discipline, so mistakes are prevented where they originate — at the counter — instead of being repaired later in the returns.

Growth Without Compliance Anxiety

New branches, new product lines and interstate sales all carry GST consequences. With standing professional support, you expand knowing registrations, invoicing and returns will keep pace with the business.

Confidence During Officer Interactions

When a query or verification comes, you respond through a professional who deals with the department regularly, in the department's own language and format, instead of facing an officer's letter alone.

Smooth Scheme Transitions

Whether moving between composition and regular scheme, opting into QRMP, or crossing the e-invoice threshold at Rs.5 crore, transitions are planned in advance rather than discovered after a compliance breach.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Record keepingEvery return, challan, acknowledgement and working paper archived in an organised folder, retrievable in minutes years later.Documents scattered across email, downloads and old phones; assembling records for a bank or an audit takes days.
Risk of noticesGSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B reconciled before filing, removing the mismatches that trigger most scrutiny notices.Inconsistent figures across returns quietly build a mismatch history that surfaces later as ASMT-10 scrutiny or a demand notice.
Refund claimsRFD-01 filed with complete statements and annexures, tracked from ARN to bank credit, with any deficiency memo answered promptly.Incomplete claims bounce back as deficiency memos while the refund sits unclaimed for months and working capital stays blocked.
Due-date trackingA maintained compliance calendar with internal cut-offs days before the 11th and the 20th; we chase you for data, not the other way around.Deadlines remembered from memory or phone alarms; one busy week and the return slips past the due date.
Late fees and interestFilings go in ahead of statutory dates, so the Rs.50-per-day late fee and 18 percent interest never arise.Late fees accumulate silently every delayed day, and interest on unpaid tax runs at 18 percent per annum.
Goods in transitE-way bills generated correctly and matched to invoices, so consignments pass roadside inspections without detention or penalty.A defective or missing e-way bill can mean detention at a checkpoint, with penalties that dwarf the tax on the consignment.

We track every notification, circular and judgment that changes a filing position, so your returns and replies reflect the current law.

Circular

Credit allowed on demonstration vehicles held by authorised dealers

Circular No. 231/25/2024-GST · 2024-09-10

CBIC clarified that demo vehicles used by an authorised motor vehicle dealer to provide test drives and demonstrate features are used for making a further supply of such motor vehicles, so the blocking provision in Section 17(5)(a) does not apply and input tax credit is available. Credit is not available where the vehicle is used for staff transportation or other internal purposes, and dealers capitalising demo vehicles must not claim depreciation on the tax component.

How we apply it: Vehicle dealerships should claim input tax credit on demo cars used for test drives and reverse it only where the vehicle is diverted to internal use.

Portal Advisory

Amnesty forms SPL-01 and SPL-02 enabled for interest and penalty waiver

GSTN Advisory, January 2025 — filing of waiver applications under Section 128A · 2025-01

GSTN enabled Forms SPL-01 and SPL-02 on the portal from the first week of January 2025 for the Section 128A waiver scheme, under which taxpayers with Section 73 demands for FY 2017-18 to 2019-20 could get interest and penalty waived by paying the tax in full by 31 March 2025. Advisories explained eligibility, the need to withdraw pending appeals first, and the application deadline of 30 June 2025, with a further June 2025 advisory addressing technical glitches faced while submitting applications.

What it means for you: If you settled 2017-20 demands under the amnesty, preserve the SPL filings and payment proofs; if you missed it, factor full interest into dispute strategy.

AAR Ruling

Carbonated fruit drinks classified as carbonated beverages, not fruit juice drinks

Rich Dairy Products (India) Pvt Ltd - AAR Tamil Nadu (2019), upheld by AAAR Tamil Nadu, Order No. TN/AAAR/01/2020 · 2019

The Namakkal manufacturer made carbonated beverages containing fruit juice and sought classification under the fruit pulp or fruit juice based drinks entry taxed at 12 percent. The Authority held that once carbon dioxide is added the product is classifiable under heading 2202 10 as waters containing added carbon dioxide and flavouring, and not as fruit juice under heading 2009, so the higher rate applicable to that entry along with compensation cess applies. The Appellate Authority upheld that view.

What to do about it: Chennai beverage makers must check whether the drink is carbonated before applying the 12 percent fruit drink rate.

Already Holding the Notice? Read It in About a Minute

Upload the PDF to our free GST Notice Analyser. It identifies which of 34 notice types you have, pulls out the DIN, GSTIN and tax period, reads the reply date printed on the notice and tells you plainly whether that date has already passed — along with the documents and reconciliations you will need. No payment, no account. If the notice does not state a date we can read, it says so rather than guessing one for you.

Analyse my notice — free WhatsApp it to a consultant

The analyser reports what your notice says and the statutory position for that form. It is not a substitute for a consultant reading your actual records, and a reply should be reviewed before you file it.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

How long does GST notice reply take in Perungudi?
Draft reply in 3-5 working days. That assumes your documents are complete and there is no departmental query. We start the same day we receive your papers and tell you the realistic completion date upfront rather than an optimistic one. Where the GST portal or the officer causes delay — clarifications, physical verification or system issues — we track it daily and keep you informed on WhatsApp.
What documents are required for GST notice reply in Perungudi?
For GST notice reply you will generally need: Copy of the notice received, with its reference number and date, GST portal login credentials, GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B filed copies for the periods in question, GSTR-2A and GSTR-2B data for the relevant periods, Sales and purchase registers for the periods covered. The exact list depends on your constitution — proprietorship, partnership, LLP or company — and on the specifics of your case. Send what you have on WhatsApp to +91 - 9600 606 444 and we will confirm within the same working day exactly what else is needed, so nothing is rejected later for a missing paper.
Can my GST consultant attend a summons hearing on my behalf in Perungudi?
Generally no. A summons under Section 70 requires the person named in it to appear personally, because the officer records a statement on oath, and an authorised representative cannot substitute for you unless the officer specifically permits it. What a consultant can do is equally important: prepare a factual brief, reconcile your returns with books, compile the documents demanded, accompany you to the office where allowed, and file written submissions afterwards. Businesses in Perungudi that walk into a summons unprepared often make admissions that harden into demands later, so invest time in preparation before the appearance date.
What happens if I ignore a GSTR-3A notice from the GST department?
If the return is not filed within fifteen days, the officer can complete a best judgment assessment under Section 62 and pass an order in Form ASMT-13, estimating your liability from GSTR-1 data, e-way bills and bank information. Such estimates are usually far higher than the actual dues. The assessment is deemed withdrawn if you file the valid return within sixty days of the order, on payment of late fee and interest. Beyond that, the demand becomes recoverable. Several traders in Perungudi have faced bank account attachment for ignored GSTR-3A notices, so act within the fifteen-day window.
What is compounding of offences under GST and how much does it cost?
Compounding under Section 138 lets an accused settle a criminal prosecution by paying a compounding amount, after which no further criminal proceedings are initiated and any pending prosecution abates. It is available either before or after the institution of prosecution, but only after the tax, interest and penalty involved have been paid. Following the Finance Act 2023, the compounding amount ranges between 25 percent and 100 percent of the tax involved, substantially lower than the earlier slabs. The application is made in Form CPD-01 to the Commissioner, who passes an order in CPD-02 within ninety days. Compounding buys certainty; it does not erase the civil demand.
What is the general penalty under Section 125 and when is it imposed?
Section 125 is the residual penalty provision for contraventions of the Act or rules for which no separate penalty is prescribed anywhere else. It can extend to Rs.25,000 under the CGST Act, with a matching penalty under the SGST Act, so the practical exposure is up to Rs.50,000 per contravention. Officers invoke it for procedural lapses such as not displaying the registration certificate, minor documentation errors during transit, or failure to furnish information called for. Because the amount is discretionary, a reasoned reply showing the breach was technical and without revenue loss often brings the figure down substantially.
How do I get a provisional attachment on my property or bank account lifted quickly?
Rule 159(5) gives you the immediate remedy: file an objection before the Commissioner, within seven days of the attachment, contending that the property was not liable to attachment, and seek a personal hearing. If satisfied, the Commissioner releases the property through Form DRC-23. In practice, offering less disruptive security, demonstrating that the attachment cripples salaries and statutory payments, or showing that the underlying proceedings do not fall within Section 83 are effective grounds. Where the Commissioner refuses, a writ petition before the Madras High Court is the established route for Perungudi businesses, since no appeal is provided against DRC-22. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 the day the bank informs you.
I got a show cause notice in REG-17 threatening cancellation of my GST registration. What should I do?
Form REG-17 is issued when the officer proposes to cancel your registration, commonly for continuous non-filing of returns, non-existence at the declared premises or wrongful ITC availment. You must reply in Form REG-18 within seven working days and attend the hearing if one is fixed. If the reply satisfies the officer, proceedings are dropped in REG-20; otherwise cancellation is ordered in REG-19. If cancellation happens, you can seek revocation in Form REG-21 within ninety days after filing all pending returns and paying dues. Because cancelled registrations freeze e-way bills and invoicing, treat a REG-17 in Perungudi as urgent.
How will I know my scrutiny reply has been accepted by the GST officer?
If your explanation in ASMT-11 is found acceptable, the officer issues Form ASMT-12 informing you that the discrepancies stand explained and no further action is required on those points. The order appears in your Additional Notices and Orders tab on the portal. Keep the ASMT-12 safely with your reconciliation working papers, because the same period can still come up in a later audit and the closure order is your best shield. If instead the officer is not satisfied, expect a DRC-01A or show cause notice. Many Perungudi clients receive ASMT-12 within weeks when the reply is complete and well-annexed.
What is the difference between a Section 73 and a Section 74 notice?
Section 73 covers short payment of tax or wrong ITC without fraud, while Section 74 applies where the department alleges fraud, wilful misstatement or suppression of facts to evade tax. The stakes differ sharply. Under Section 73 the order must be passed within three years from the annual return due date and the penalty is 10 percent of the tax or Rs.10,000, whichever is higher, with no penalty if you pay before the notice. Under Section 74 the limit is five years and penalty can equal 100 percent of the tax. Contesting a wrong invocation of Section 74 is often the first line of defence.
The audit team has pointed out a tax liability. Should I pay it or contest it?
Evaluate each para on its own merits. For findings that are clearly correct, such as missed reverse charge or arithmetic ITC excess, paying through DRC-03 with interest before a show cause notice is issued avoids penalty under Section 73 and closes the para. For findings based on debatable classification, valuation or ITC interpretation, submit a reasoned rebuttal to the draft observations, because accepting them sets a precedent for future years. If the department still proceeds, contest the DRC-01 through DRC-06 and, if needed, appeal. ChennaiGST gives Perungudi businesses a para-wise pay-or-fight recommendation with quantified exposure; call +91 - 9600 606 444 before you concede anything.
Why is my e-way bill generation blocked on the portal?
Under Rule 138E, the e-way bill facility is blocked when a taxpayer has not filed GSTR-3B (or CMP-08 for composition dealers) for two or more consecutive tax periods. Since an e-way bill is mandatory for moving goods worth more than Rs.50,000, blocking effectively halts dispatches. The remedy is straightforward: file the pending returns with late fee and interest, after which the facility unblocks automatically, usually the next day. Transporters and suppliers can also be affected when a counterparty GSTIN is blocked. We clear return backlogs for businesses in Perungudi on priority; call +91 - 9600 606 444.
How is GST charged on clothes and footwear after the rate change?
The rate now turns on a per-piece price line of Rs.2,500. Apparel, made-up textile articles and footwear with a sale value up to Rs.2,500 per piece attract 5 percent GST, while pieces priced above Rs.2,500 attract 18 percent. The test applies item by item, so a single invoice from a garment shop in Perungudi can carry both rates: a Rs.1,800 shirt at 5 percent and a Rs.4,000 pair of shoes at 18 percent on the same bill. Configure the billing software to test the price of each line item automatically rather than applying one blanket rate.
Is GST still charged on life and health insurance premiums?
No. With effect from 22 September 2025, premiums on all individual life insurance policies, including term plans, endowment plans and ULIPs, and all individual health insurance policies, including family floater and senior citizen plans, are exempt from GST. Reinsurance of these policies is also exempt. Earlier these premiums bore 18 percent tax. Note that the exemption applies to policies taken by individuals; certain group covers procured by businesses can still attract GST, and insurers can no longer claim input credit attributable to exempt policies. Policyholders should see the benefit directly in renewal notices.
If I open a bulk bag and sell rice loose by weight, is that sale taxable?
No. The 5% levy on specified food items applies only when they are supplied in pre-packaged and labelled form in packs up to 25 kilograms. When a retailer opens bulk stock and weighs out loose quantities against each customer's order, the supply is not of a pre-packaged commodity, so it remains exempt. What you cannot do is sell an intact labelled retail pack and bill it as loose. Keep purchase records showing bulk procurement and maintain the loose counter separately from the packed shelf, because officers test this distinction during inspections of grocery businesses. When in doubt on a product, call +91 - 9600 606 444.
Something is malfunctioning on the GST portal. How do I raise a formal grievance ticket?
Use the GST Self-Service Grievance Redressal Portal at selfservice.gstsystem.in. Select Report Issue, type a keyword describing the problem, and the system suggests the matching category along with FAQs; if those do not resolve it, proceed to raise the ticket by entering your GSTIN or ARN, contact details and a description, and attach screenshots of the error. A ticket reference number is issued instantly by email and SMS. Raising a ticket also creates a record that the failure was on the system side, which helps later if a deadline was missed because of a portal outage. Our Perungudi office logs tickets for clients as part of retainer support.
Can one document cover both taxable and exempt items sold together?
Yes, in one specific situation. Rule 46A permits a registered person supplying both taxable and exempt goods or services to an unregistered recipient to issue a single invoice-cum-bill of supply covering the entire transaction. This saves retail counters from splitting every mixed basket into two documents. The concession applies only when the buyer is unregistered; for a registered buyer, you must still issue a tax invoice for the taxable items and a separate bill of supply for the exempt items. Supermarkets and pharmacies with mixed inventories use this format daily, and billing software handles the split automatically once configured.
My customer says he cannot claim ITC because of my late filing. Is that correct?
Yes, he is right. A buyer can claim input tax credit only for invoices appearing in his GSTR-2B, which is generated from suppliers' GSTR-1 and IFF filings. If you file GSTR-1 after the 11th, your invoices miss that month's GSTR-2B and your customer's credit gets pushed to the next month, straining his working capital. Repeated delays lead buyers to withhold the GST portion of payments or move to more compliant vendors. Timely GSTR-1 filing is therefore a commercial necessity, not just a legal one. ChennaiGST ensures clients in Perungudi never face this complaint.
