Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for Sharma Nagar Alvin Road, Rajakilpakkam

Businesses in Rajakilpakkam looking for GST Refund RFD-01 want two things: work done correctly and someone answerable when questions come. Rajakilpakkam sits between Camp Road Junction and Madambakkam High Road, a household retail belt of provision stores, hardware and paint dealers, clinics, tuition centres and small eateries, with apartment blocks rising along the IAF Road and Karpaga Nagar layouts. Kirana traders hover around the registration threshold, while joint-development promoters wrestle with the one and five per cent residential rates and blocked input tax credit. We serve this belt — including Sembakkam and Selaiyur — with fixed fees quoted upfront, a written document checklist, and filings completed ahead of statutory due dates. Every acknowledgement is shared the day it is generated, and our support continues if the department raises any query on work we have filed.

GST jurisdiction for Rajakilpakkam (PIN 600073): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai Outer Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Rajakilpakkam before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for Builders and Contractors in Rajakilpakkam
Under-construction residential sales are taxed at 1 percent for affordable housing and 5 percent for other units, both without input credit, while commercial works contracts run at 18 percent with credit. Builders must procure at least 80 percent of inputs and input services from registered suppliers each year; any shortfall attracts tax under reverse charge, and cement bought from unregistered dealers is taxed under reverse charge at its full rate regardless of the shortfall test. Development rights and joint development agreements carry their own liability trigger points. A specialist runs the 80-20 computation annually and tracks reverse charge on cement and landowner area sharing so project costing stays accurate.
Businesses in Rajakilpakkam typically choose professional GST Refund RFD-01 because reconciled, senior-reviewed filings from Rs.4,999 prevent the late fees, lost credit and mismatch notices that self-filing commonly produces.
Why Us

Why Sharma Nagar Alvin Road, Rajakilpakkam Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

Correct HSN Codes and Rates, Verified

GSTR-1 requires four-digit HSN reporting for turnover up to Rs.5 crore and six digits above it, and a wrong code often means a wrong rate. We verify the classification of what you actually supply, so your invoices and returns rest on defensible codes.

Advisory, Not Just Data Entry

We tell you when the composition scheme stops making sense, when QRMP suits your cash flow, and when a supplier's non-compliance is quietly costing you credit. Filing is the minimum; helping you make better GST decisions is the actual job.

Fast, Clean Registrations and Amendments

New GSTIN applications, core field amendments through REG-14, additional places of business — we prepare complete, query-resistant applications the first time. Clean paperwork is the difference between smooth approval and weeks lost answering clarification memos from the department.

One Dedicated Point of Contact

You deal with one accountable person who knows your business, your turnover pattern and your filing history. No repeating your story to a new voice every month, and no file falling between two desks when a deadline is approaching.

We Work with Your Existing Software

Tally, Zoho Books, Busy, marketplace reports, plain Excel or even a handwritten bill book — we take your data in whatever form your Rajakilpakkam business already maintains it. You are never forced to buy new software or retrain staff just to become our client.

Strict Data Confidentiality

Your sales figures, supplier lists and login credentials are handled only by our engaged team, stored securely and never shared with any third party. Many of our clients in Rajakilpakkam compete with each other; complete confidentiality is a condition of our work.

How It Works

Our GST Refund Process

Eligibility and computation

We identify the correct refund category, confirm the two-year limitation from the relevant date, and compute the admissible amount using the formula prescribed under the rules.

Document compilation

Invoices, shipping bills, FIRCs, the LUT and ledger extracts are compiled into the prescribed statements, and gaps that commonly cause deficiency memos are fixed upfront.

RFD-01 filing

The refund application is filed on the portal with all annexures and declarations, and the acknowledgement in RFD-02 is tracked within the statutory fifteen days.

Departmental follow-up

We respond to any deficiency memo in RFD-03 or show cause notice in RFD-08, appear through written submissions, and pursue provisional refund where the category permits.

Sanction and credit

We track the sanction order in RFD-06 and payment advice in RFD-05, confirm the credit in your validated bank account, and archive the complete claim file.

Outcomes

What You Get

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

Tax Paid Under the Right Head

Getting IGST versus CGST and SGST right at the invoice stage spares you the painful cycle of paying the correct head again and pursuing a refund of the amount paid under the wrong one.

A Clean GSTIN That Stays Active

Continuous filing protects you from the suspension and cancellation proceedings that hit chronic non-filers, so your registration, e-way bill access and ability to issue tax invoices are never suddenly cut off.

Closure Without Loose Ends

When a business winds up, proper cancellation and a timely final return ensure the file is genuinely closed, so no demand or late-fee computation resurfaces against you long after the shutters came down.

Fewer Errors at the Billing Counter

Your billing staff are guided on invoice fields, rates and series discipline, so mistakes are prevented where they originate — at the counter — instead of being repaired later in the returns.

No More Late Fees

With returns filed ahead of the statutory due dates every period, the Rs.50-per-day GSTR-3B late fee simply stops appearing in your life, and the money stays in your business where it belongs.

Annual Returns Without the Year-End Scramble

Because monthly data is reconciled as it happens, GSTR-9 preparation before the 31 December due date becomes a review exercise rather than a painful reconstruction of twelve untidy months.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Registration and amendmentsQuery-resistant applications prepared correctly the first time, with supporting documents matched to what proper officers actually verify.Repeated clarification memos and resubmissions, with weeks lost because a rent agreement or premises photograph did not meet expectations.
Refund claimsRFD-01 filed with complete statements and annexures, tracked from ARN to bank credit, with any deficiency memo answered promptly.Incomplete claims bounce back as deficiency memos while the refund sits unclaimed for months and working capital stays blocked.
Annual return preparationMonthly reconciliations roll naturally into GSTR-9, filed comfortably before 31 December with figures already agreed through the year.Twelve months of unmatched data reconstructed in December, with differences discovered too late to be corrected cleanly.
Time costRoughly an hour a month to send data and approve drafts; the portal work, reconciliation and follow-up are ours.Hours every month lost to portal errors, JSON files, OTP failures and reworking figures — usually on the due date itself.
Risk of noticesGSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B reconciled before filing, removing the mismatches that trigger most scrutiny notices.Inconsistent figures across returns quietly build a mismatch history that surfaces later as ASMT-10 scrutiny or a demand notice.
Goods in transitE-way bills generated correctly and matched to invoices, so consignments pass roadside inspections without detention or penalty.A defective or missing e-way bill can mean detention at a checkpoint, with penalties that dwarf the tax on the consignment.

AAR Ruling

Ladies hostel run from rented premises, with food, held taxable

Nithiyashree Ladies Hostel - AAR Tamil Nadu, Advance Ruling No. 77/AAR/2023, dated 4 September 2023 · 2023-09-04

The applicant ran a ladies hostel in premises it had itself taken on rent and supplied accommodation together with food and related services. It sought exemption on the footing that this was renting of residential accommodation. The Authority held the supply classifiable under heading 9963 and taxable at 9 percent central tax and 9 percent State tax, treating hostel accommodation with attached services as a taxable service and not as renting of a residential dwelling for use as a residence.

What to do about it: Chennai hostel and paying guest operators should not assume exemption; the outcome turns on the exact facts and on later High Court rulings.

Notification

Section 13(8)(b) omitted: intermediary services now placed at the recipient's location

Section 157, Finance Act, 2026 — omission of Section 13(8)(b) of the IGST Act, 2017 · 2026-03-30

With effect from 30 March 2026, Section 13(8)(b) of the IGST Act was omitted, removing the special rule that fixed the place of supply of intermediary services at the location of the supplier. Such services now fall under the default rule in Section 13(2), placing them at the location of the recipient. For brokers, agents and facilitation and back-office service providers whose clients are overseas, the supply can now qualify as an export of services, opening up LUT-based zero-rated supply and refund of accumulated input tax credit.

What to do about it: Chennai-based agents and intermediaries serving foreign principals should re-examine their export classification, LUT coverage and refund eligibility for supplies made on or after 30 March 2026.

Circular

Food and drink sold at cinema counters is restaurant service at 5 per cent

Circular No. 201/13/2023-GST dated 01.08.2023 · 2023-08-01

Following the 50th GST Council meeting, CBIC clarified that supply of food and beverages at the snack counters of a cinema hall is taxable as restaurant service at 5 per cent without input tax credit, provided it is supplied independently of the cinema exhibition service. Where a ticket and food are clubbed into a single package, the transaction is a composite supply with exhibition as the principal supply and the ticket rate applies to the whole amount.

What to do about it: Chennai multiplex operators should keep counter sales separately invoiced from tickets, otherwise the entire combo value gets taxed at the higher exhibition rate.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

Do you provide GST refund RFD-01 for businesses on Sharma Nagar Alvin Road?
Yes. We serve businesses on and around Sharma Nagar Alvin Road in Rajakilpakkam — shops, offices, godowns and home-run businesses alike. Document pickup can be arranged at your premises, or you can send everything on WhatsApp and complete GST refund without leaving your counter. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 and mention your location; a consultant will confirm the fee and timeline immediately.
Is there a GST consultant near Rajakilpakkam for gst refund application?
Yes. We serve Rajakilpakkam and the surrounding areas from our office at Porur, Chennai - 600 116, Tamil Nadu, and most GST refund work is completed online — you send documents on WhatsApp and we handle the portal work. If you prefer in-person help, we offer doorstep document pickup across Rajakilpakkam and you are welcome to visit our office. Reach us on +91 - 9600 606 444 between 9 AM and 8 PM, Monday to Saturday.
I export under LUT without charging tax. Can I get a refund of my input tax credit?
Yes. Exports made under a Letter of Undertaking are zero-rated, so the input tax credit accumulated on your purchases can be claimed as a refund by filing RFD-01 under the category refund of unutilised ITC on export without payment of tax. The refund is computed proportionately using the formula in Rule 89(4), based on your export turnover versus total turnover. You must upload a statement of export invoices along with shipping bills or, for services, FIRC or BRC evidencing foreign exchange receipt. Exporters in Rajakilpakkam can call +91 - 9600 606 444 for end-to-end filing support.
My GST refund was rejected by the officer. Do I have any remedy?
Yes. Before rejection, the officer must issue a notice in RFD-08 and consider your reply in RFD-09, so a rejection without hearing you is itself challengeable. Against a rejection order in RFD-06, you can file an appeal in Form APL-01 before the appellate authority within three months of the order. The ITC debited for the rejected claim is re-credited through PMT-03 where applicable. Appeals on refund matters frequently succeed where the rejection was for curable documentation gaps, so preserve every acknowledgement and reply. Professional drafting of the appeal grounds materially improves outcomes.
How can I track my GST refund status, and is there help near me in Chennai?
Log in to the GST portal and go to Services, then Refunds, then Track Application Status, where each ARN shows its stage: filed, acknowledged, provisional refund issued, or final order passed. For IGST-paid exports, refund status is tracked on ICEGATE against the shipping bill. If an application shows no movement past sixty days, you are entitled to interest on the delayed amount and can escalate through a grievance on the portal. ChennaiGST assists businesses across Rajakilpakkam with follow-up and escalation of stuck refunds; call +91 - 9600 606 444 with your ARN for a status review.
What are deemed exports and who claims the refund, the supplier or the buyer?
Deemed exports are notified domestic supplies treated like exports even though goods do not leave India, such as supplies to Export Oriented Units, supplies against Advance Authorisation, and supplies of capital goods against EPCG authorisation. Tax is paid on these supplies, and the refund of that tax can be claimed through RFD-01 by either the recipient or, where the recipient furnishes an undertaking that it will not claim the refund and will not avail ITC, by the supplier. The claim must be filed within two years and supported by the prescribed acknowledgements and undertakings.
I run a software services company in Rajakilpakkam billing US clients. Can I claim a GST refund?
Yes, provided your supplies qualify as export of services: the recipient is outside India, payment is received in convertible foreign exchange, and you and the client are not merely establishments of the same person. Export of services is zero-rated, so if you supply under LUT without charging IGST, the ITC on your rent, software subscriptions and other business inputs can be refunded through RFD-01. You must attach FIRC or bank realisation certificates proving foreign exchange receipt. Many IT exporters in Rajakilpakkam accumulate lakhs in unclaimed credit; call +91 - 9600 606 444 for a free eligibility review.
What documents do I need to attach with a GST refund application?
The documents depend on the refund category. Export refunds under LUT need a statement of invoices with corresponding shipping bill numbers and dates, or FIRC and BRC for service exports. Inverted duty claims need statements of inward and outward supplies with the Rule 89(5) computation. All claims need a declaration that the tax incidence has not been passed on, and claims above Rs.2 lakh require a certificate from a chartered accountant or cost accountant in certain cases. Uploads are limited on the portal, so annexures must be prepared compactly. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 for a category-wise checklist.
My staff stay in hotels in other states on tour. Why can I not claim that GST?
Because of the place of supply rule. Hotel accommodation is taxed where the hotel is located, so a Mumbai hotel charges CGST plus Maharashtra SGST even when the guest's employer is registered in Tamil Nadu. Your Tamil Nadu GSTIN can utilise only IGST, CGST and Tamil Nadu SGST, so another state's CGST and SGST is unusable credit; it will appear in your GSTR-2B but must be excluded from the claim. Options are limited: absorb it as cost, or obtain registration in states with heavy recurring stays, which rarely pays. Businesses in Rajakilpakkam with travelling teams should review bookings, since event services follow different rules that may allow IGST billing.
Can I reply to a GST notice myself, or should I hire a professional?
For simple defaults, such as a GSTR-3A non-filing notice where you only need to file the pending return, you can manage yourself. For anything involving discrepancies or demands, ASMT-10, DRC-01A, DRC-01 or audit observations, professional drafting usually pays for itself, because your first reply frames the entire case; admissions or vague explanations made now are hard to retract at the appeal stage. A practitioner also knows which circulars and precedents apply, how to structure reconciliations officers accept, and when to pay strategically through DRC-03. Weigh the tax at stake against the fee; when the demand exceeds a few thousand rupees, hire help.
How do I find the correct GST rate for my product or service?
The rate is always determined by classification: identify the correct HSN code for goods or SAC code for services, then read the rate against that code in the current CBIC rate notifications, as amended by the September 2025 restructuring notifications. The GST portal and the CBIC website both host searchable rate finders. Classification disputes are common where a product sits between two descriptions, and the wrong choice means either losing margin or facing a demand with interest. ChennaiGST maintains verified rate masters for clients in Rajakilpakkam and reviews them whenever the Council changes rates; call +91 - 9600 606 444 for a classification review.
If I open a bulk bag and sell rice loose by weight, is that sale taxable?
No. The 5% levy on specified food items applies only when they are supplied in pre-packaged and labelled form in packs up to 25 kilograms. When a retailer opens bulk stock and weighs out loose quantities against each customer's order, the supply is not of a pre-packaged commodity, so it remains exempt. What you cannot do is sell an intact labelled retail pack and bill it as loose. Keep purchase records showing bulk procurement and maintain the loose counter separately from the packed shelf, because officers test this distinction during inspections of grocery businesses. When in doubt on a product, call +91 - 9600 606 444.
I returned an advance because the deal was cancelled. What document do I issue?
It depends on how far the paperwork went. If you had issued only a receipt voucher and no tax invoice, you issue a refund voucher under Rule 51 when returning the advance, and the tax paid on that advance can be adjusted. If a tax invoice had already been issued, the cancellation is handled through a credit note under Section 34 instead. The refund voucher records the original receipt voucher reference, the amount refunded and the tax involved. Event managers and contractors see cancellations regularly, and using the wrong document between these two is a common reconciliation error.
When can goods move on a delivery challan instead of a tax invoice?
Rule 55 permits movement on a delivery challan where the transportation is not itself a supply: sending inputs or capital goods for job work, taking goods to an exhibition or for approval where the sale is not yet certain, supplying liquid gas where the quantity is unknown at removal, and moving goods in semi-knocked-down form in multiple consignments, where the full invoice travels with the first lot. The challan is prepared in triplicate and an e-way bill is still required where value thresholds are crossed. Goods sent on approval must be invoiced within six months, failing which tax becomes payable.
What happened to the old 12 percent and 28 percent GST slabs?
Both slabs were abolished with effect from 22 September 2025. Nearly all goods that were at 12 percent moved down to 5 percent, and the bulk of the 28 percent items moved to 18 percent, with only a small set of luxury and demerit goods shifted up to the special 40 percent rate. This means old rate charts, printed price lists and software masters created before September 2025 are unreliable. Before quoting or billing, confirm the current rate against the CBIC rate notifications for your exact HSN code, or call +91 - 9600 606 444 and we will verify it for your product list.
How do I track the status of a grievance ticket or any ARN I have on the GST portal?
For grievance tickets, open selfservice.gstsystem.in and use Check Status by entering the ticket reference number; the screen shows whether it is open, under processing or resolved, with the resolution comments. For applications filed on the main portal, log in and use Services, then Track Application Status, choosing the module and entering the ARN, or open My Applications to see every application with its case detail folder, notices and replies in one place. Diarise every ARN the day it is generated, because reply windows run from portal timestamps. ChennaiGST maintains an ARN tracker for every client engagement.
By when must I issue a tax invoice when I sell goods?
For goods, Section 31 requires the tax invoice to be issued before or at the time of removal of the goods, where the supply involves movement, or before or at the time of delivery or making the goods available in other cases. In simple terms, the invoice must travel with the goods; a lorry leaving your Rajakilpakkam godown without an invoice is exposed to detention even if the e-way bill exists. For continuous supplies of goods with successive statements or payments, the invoice must be issued when each statement is issued or each payment is received.
Can I transfer cash ledger balance from one GSTIN to another GSTIN of the same PAN?
Yes, within limits. Under Section 49(10), unutilised IGST and CGST balances in the electronic cash ledger can be transferred through PMT-09 to the cash ledger of a distinct person, that is, another GSTIN registered on the same PAN in the same or another state. SGST balances cannot be moved across states in this manner. The transfer is not permitted if the transferring GSTIN has any unpaid liability standing in its electronic liability register. Multi-state businesses headquartered in Rajakilpakkam use this to shift idle deposits to the branch that actually needs the cash, avoiding fresh working capital outflow.
Are there any hidden charges for GST refund RFD-01?
No. The fee quoted before we start is the fee you pay. Government fees, portal charges or statutory late fees, where they apply, are separate and disclosed to you in advance with the exact amount. We issue a proper GST invoice for our professional fee. If the scope of work changes — for example, an unexpected notice or additional periods — we tell you the revised fee before doing anything further.
Do you provide gst refund application for small businesses and proprietorships in Rajakilpakkam?
Yes. A large share of our clients in Rajakilpakkam are proprietors, small traders, shop owners, freelancers and family businesses rather than large companies. The fee of Rs.4,999 and the process are the same regardless of size, and we explain the compliance position in plain language — in Tamil or English — so you understand what is being filed on your behalf and why.
How long does GST refund RFD-01 take in Rajakilpakkam?
Application filed in 3-5 working days; sanction typically within 60 days. That assumes your documents are complete and there is no departmental query. We start the same day we receive your papers and tell you the realistic completion date upfront rather than an optimistic one. Where the GST portal or the officer causes delay — clarifications, physical verification or system issues — we track it daily and keep you informed on WhatsApp.
