Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for Krishnaveni Street, Ramapuram

Ramapuram sits north of Mount Poonamallee Road between the DLF IT Park gate and Ramapuram Main Road, with the SRM Ramapuram campus off Bharathi Salai and dense residential grids in Chowdhary Nagar, Kothari Nagar, Bethaniya Nagar and Majestic Colony. Software and BPO vendors, IT staffing agencies, PG hostels, cloud kitchens and facility contractors bill the DLF tenants, so LUT renewals for export of services, place-of-supply questions on manpower contracts and blocked-credit disputes on canteen and employee cab bills dominate the work here. That commercial character shapes the GST questions we see from Ramapuram every week — registrations, monthly returns, credit mismatches and departmental queries. We deliver GST Notice Reply for businesses in Ramapuram, and clients also reach us from Manapakkam and Mugalivakkam nearby. Documents move over WhatsApp, drafts are approved before filing, and a senior consultant reviews every submission, so distance from our office never dilutes the quality of the work.

GST jurisdiction for Ramapuram (PIN 600089): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai South Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Ramapuram before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for Educational Institutions in Ramapuram
Education enjoys exemption only within defined walls: institutions providing recognised board or university qualifications are exempt under Entry 66 of Notification 12/2017, along with their transport, catering and examination services to students. Coaching centres, skill academies and training institutes fall outside the entry and pay 18 percent. An organisation running both a recognised school and a commercial coaching wing must segregate the streams, reverse proportionate input credit under Rule 42 on the exempt side, and still count exempt fees within aggregate turnover for registration. A specialist structures the two activities, fee invoicing and credit reversals so the exemption claimed for one stream is never endangered by the other.
Businesses in Ramapuram typically choose professional GST Notice Reply because reconciled, senior-reviewed filings from Rs.2,999 prevent the late fees, lost credit and mismatch notices that self-filing commonly produces.
Why Us

Why Krishnaveni Street, Ramapuram Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

✓

QRMP Managed Properly, Not Just Opted Into

Quarterly filing still demands monthly attention — IFF uploads so your buyers see their credit on time, and tax payment through PMT-06 by the 25th for the first two months of each quarter. We run that monthly rhythm so QRMP saves you effort without creating gaps.

✓

A Real Local Office You Can Walk Into

We are a Chennai firm with a physical office, not a faceless portal. If you prefer to sit across a table with your papers, you are welcome. Clients from Ramapuram regularly visit us for registrations, notice discussions and annual return reviews.

✓

Strict Data Confidentiality

Your sales figures, supplier lists and login credentials are handled only by our engaged team, stored securely and never shared with any third party. Many of our clients in Ramapuram compete with each other; complete confidentiality is a condition of our work.

✓

Waiver and Amnesty Windows Applied for You

Whenever the GST Council notifies a late-fee waiver or an amnesty window for pending returns or old demands, we check every client's history against it and act within the deadline. Relief that businesses in Ramapuram would otherwise read about after it lapsed reaches our clients in time.

✓

Advisory, Not Just Data Entry

We tell you when the composition scheme stops making sense, when QRMP suits your cash flow, and when a supplier's non-compliance is quietly costing you credit. Filing is the minimum; helping you make better GST decisions is the actual job.

✓

Ledger Housekeeping on the Portal

Your cash ledger, credit ledger and liability register are reviewed regularly, not just at filing time. Excess balances are flagged for use or refund, and where a genuine slip surfaces, a voluntary payment through DRC-03 settles it before it can mature into a notice.

How It Works

Our Notice Reply Process

Notice study

We read the notice line by line, identify the section invoked, the periods covered, the exact information sought and the deadline for response.

Data reconciliation

The figures alleged in the notice are reconciled against your filed returns, GSTR-2B and books, so the reply is grounded in verifiable numbers rather than assertions.

Reply drafting

We draft a professional, point-wise reply addressing every allegation, attaching reconciliations, invoices and legal support, and share the draft with you for approval.

Filing and payment

The approved reply is filed on the portal within the deadline. Where a small genuine liability exists, we advise payment through DRC-03 to limit interest and penalty.

Closure tracking

We monitor the portal for the officer's response, attend to any further queries or hearing dates, and pursue the matter until a closure or order is received.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Keeping up with changesRate changes, portal updates and new thresholds such as the Rs.5 crore e-invoice limit are tracked by us and applied to your case proactively.Changes are discovered after the fact — often through a rejected filing, a blocked e-way bill or a departmental letter.
Time costRoughly an hour a month to send data and approve drafts; the portal work, reconciliation and follow-up are ours.Hours every month lost to portal errors, JSON files, OTP failures and reworking figures — usually on the due date itself.
Goods in transitE-way bills generated correctly and matched to invoices, so consignments pass roadside inspections without detention or penalty.A defective or missing e-way bill can mean detention at a checkpoint, with penalties that dwarf the tax on the consignment.
Due-date trackingA maintained compliance calendar with internal cut-offs days before the 11th and the 20th; we chase you for data, not the other way around.Deadlines remembered from memory or phone alarms; one busy week and the return slips past the due date.
Annual return preparationMonthly reconciliations roll naturally into GSTR-9, filed comfortably before 31 December with figures already agreed through the year.Twelve months of unmatched data reconstructed in December, with differences discovered too late to be corrected cleanly.
Late fees and interestFilings go in ahead of statutory dates, so the Rs.50-per-day late fee and 18 percent interest never arise.Late fees accumulate silently every delayed day, and interest on unpaid tax runs at 18 percent per annum.

Circular

Goods rate and classification clarifications after the 47th Council

Circular No. 179/11/2022-GST · 2022-08-03

The Board settled several goods classification disputes following the 47th GST Council meeting. It confirmed that electrically operated vehicles attract the five per cent rate whether or not they are fitted with a battery pack at the time of supply, and that treated sewage water is exempt because the exclusion for purified water does not extend to it. Rates on fly ash bricks and blocks and on certain by-products of milling of pulses were also clarified.

How we apply it: Chennai dealers in electric vehicles and construction materials should check their invoicing against this circular, since past classification errors are a common audit finding.

AAR Ruling

Sale of developed plots: Gujarat AAR taxed it, CBIC later clarified otherwise

Shree Dipesh Anilkumar Naik — AAR Gujarat, Advance Ruling No. GUJ/GAAR/R/2020/11, dated 19 May 2020; position subsequently clarified by CBIC Circular No. 177/09/2022-TRU, dated 3 August 2022 · 2020-05-19

A landowner obtained approval to develop agricultural land into residential plots and proposed to sell the plots after laying roads, drainage, water lines and other common facilities required by the plan sanction. The Gujarat Authority for Advance Ruling held that the sale price includes the value of development works, so the transaction is a taxable supply of construction service and not a bare sale of land. CBIC later clarified that sale of land after levelling, laying drainage lines and similar works is still sale of land under Schedule III and outside GST.

How we apply it: Plot developers should read the 2022 CBIC clarification alongside older adverse rulings before conceding GST on plot sales or on development charges.

Case Law

Delhi High Court orders refund of tax deposits extracted during search as involuntary

Vallabh Textiles v. Senior Intelligence Officer — Delhi High Court, 2022 · 2022-12-20

During a search that continued into the early hours, the taxpayer deposited substantial amounts through DRC-03, later claiming coercion. The Delhi High Court held that the deposits did not bear the hallmark of voluntary self-ascertainment under Section 74(5), noted the department's non-compliance with CBIC instructions barring recovery during search, and directed refund of the amounts with interest at 6 percent. The ruling strengthens the line of authority against collection of tax during investigation without adjudication.

What to do about it: Never let officers pressure you into on-the-spot DRC-03 payments during a search — payments made under coercion can be recovered back with interest through the courts.

Already Holding the Notice? Read It in About a Minute

Upload the PDF to our free GST Notice Analyser. It identifies which of 34 notice types you have, pulls out the DIN, GSTIN and tax period, reads the reply date printed on the notice and tells you plainly whether that date has already passed — along with the documents and reconciliations you will need. No payment, no account. If the notice does not state a date we can read, it says so rather than guessing one for you.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

Do you provide GST notice reply for businesses on Krishnaveni Street?
Yes. We serve businesses on and around Krishnaveni Street in Ramapuram — shops, offices, godowns and home-run businesses alike. Document pickup can be arranged at your premises, or you can send everything on WhatsApp and complete notice reply without leaving your counter. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 and mention your location; a consultant will confirm the fee and timeline immediately.
Are there any hidden charges for GST notice reply?
No. The fee quoted before we start is the fee you pay. Government fees, portal charges or statutory late fees, where they apply, are separate and disclosed to you in advance with the exact amount. We issue a proper GST invoice for our professional fee. If the scope of work changes — for example, an unexpected notice or additional periods — we tell you the revised fee before doing anything further.
What penalties does Section 122 of the CGST Act prescribe, and for which offences?
Section 122(1) lists twenty-one offences, including supplying without an invoice, issuing an invoice without supply, collecting tax but not depositing it beyond three months, failing to deduct or collect TDS or TCS, wrongly availing input tax credit and failing to register when liable. The penalty is Rs.10,000 or an amount equivalent to the tax evaded or credit wrongly taken, whichever is higher. For short payment of tax, Section 122(2) prescribes 10 percent of the tax or Rs.10,000, whichever is higher, in non-fraud cases, and a penalty equal to the tax or Rs.10,000, whichever is higher, where fraud is involved. An equal penalty applies under the SGST Act.
I got a show cause notice in REG-17 threatening cancellation of my GST registration. What should I do?
Form REG-17 is issued when the officer proposes to cancel your registration, commonly for continuous non-filing of returns, non-existence at the declared premises or wrongful ITC availment. You must reply in Form REG-18 within seven working days and attend the hearing if one is fixed. If the reply satisfies the officer, proceedings are dropped in REG-20; otherwise cancellation is ordered in REG-19. If cancellation happens, you can seek revocation in Form REG-21 within ninety days after filing all pending returns and paying dues. Because cancelled registrations freeze e-way bills and invoicing, treat a REG-17 in Ramapuram as urgent.
Can a person who never filed the returns still be penalised in a fake invoice case?
Yes. Section 122(1A) targets the person at whose instance fake transactions are conducted and who retains the benefit, even if the invoices were issued through some other entity. Where the offence involves supplying without an invoice, issuing invoices without supply, or availing or passing on credit from such invoices, the beneficiary faces a penalty equal to the tax evaded or the credit availed or passed on. This is how masterminds behind billing rackets are penalised alongside the front companies. If your GSTIN in Ramapuram has been misused by a third party, respond to any such notice with evidence immediately; call +91 - 9600 606 444.
What happens if I ignore a GSTR-3A notice from the GST department?
If the return is not filed within fifteen days, the officer can complete a best judgment assessment under Section 62 and pass an order in Form ASMT-13, estimating your liability from GSTR-1 data, e-way bills and bank information. Such estimates are usually far higher than the actual dues. The assessment is deemed withdrawn if you file the valid return within sixty days of the order, on payment of late fee and interest. Beyond that, the demand becomes recoverable. Several traders in Ramapuram have faced bank account attachment for ignored GSTR-3A notices, so act within the fifteen-day window.
An ASMT-13 best judgment order was passed against me. Can it still be nullified by filing the return?
Yes, Section 62 contains a self-correcting mechanism. If you furnish the valid return within sixty days of service of the ASMT-13 assessment order, the order is deemed withdrawn automatically, though late fee and interest remain payable. The Finance Act 2023 added a further cushion effective 1 October 2023: even after the sixty days, you can file the return within an additional sixty days by paying an extra late fee of Rs.100 per day under the CGST Act, with a matching state levy, for each day beyond the first window, and the order still stands withdrawn. Beyond the full one hundred and twenty days, the estimated demand becomes enforceable, leaving appeal as the remedy.
Is everyone facing GST prosecution eligible to apply for compounding?
No. The statute excludes several categories. A person who has already been allowed to compound once in respect of the specified serious offences cannot compound again. Persons accused of issuing invoices without any supply of goods or services, the classic fake billing offence, were excluded from compounding altogether by the Finance Act 2023, and anyone convicted by a court under the GST law is also barred. Notably, the same 2023 amendments removed the earlier bar on compounding where the conduct was also an offence under another law, so that ground no longer disqualifies an applicant. Eligibility should be assessed before paying the underlying dues, since payment is a precondition but not a guarantee of compounding.
How do I reply to a DRC-01 show cause notice online?
The reply to a show cause notice summarised in DRC-01 is filed in Form DRC-06 on the GST portal. Log in, open View Additional Notices and Orders, select the case and use the reply option to upload your written submissions and supporting documents, and opt for a personal hearing. A good DRC-06 addresses each allegation separately, annexes reconciliations, invoices and ledgers, cites the relevant provisions and circulars, and raises limitation and jurisdiction objections where available. File within the time allowed in the notice. ChennaiGST drafts DRC-06 replies for Ramapuram businesses with a hearing strategy built in from the start.
The audit team has pointed out a tax liability. Should I pay it or contest it?
Evaluate each para on its own merits. For findings that are clearly correct, such as missed reverse charge or arithmetic ITC excess, paying through DRC-03 with interest before a show cause notice is issued avoids penalty under Section 73 and closes the para. For findings based on debatable classification, valuation or ITC interpretation, submit a reasoned rebuttal to the draft observations, because accepting them sets a precedent for future years. If the department still proceeds, contest the DRC-01 through DRC-06 and, if needed, appeal. ChennaiGST gives Ramapuram businesses a para-wise pay-or-fight recommendation with quantified exposure; call +91 - 9600 606 444 before you concede anything.
What is the difference between a Section 73 and a Section 74 notice?
Section 73 covers short payment of tax or wrong ITC without fraud, while Section 74 applies where the department alleges fraud, wilful misstatement or suppression of facts to evade tax. The stakes differ sharply. Under Section 73 the order must be passed within three years from the annual return due date and the penalty is 10 percent of the tax or Rs.10,000, whichever is higher, with no penalty if you pay before the notice. Under Section 74 the limit is five years and penalty can equal 100 percent of the tax. Contesting a wrong invocation of Section 74 is often the first line of defence.
What is the GST rate on a works contract for a commercial building?
Under GST, a works contract relating to immovable property is treated wholly as a supply of services, and the standard rate is 18 percent on the contract value, with the contractor eligible for input tax credit on cement, steel and other inputs. This applies to construction, fabrication, erection, repair and renovation contracts for factories, offices and commercial buildings. The old VAT-plus-service-tax splitting of material and labour is gone; one rate applies to the whole consideration. Contractors should also note that free-issue materials supplied by the client can affect valuation, so contract drafting deserves attention before quoting.
I declare income under Section 44ADA. Does that mean I am exempt from GST?
No, this is a common myth. Section 44ADA is a presumptive taxation scheme under the Income Tax Act that lets professionals declare fifty percent of gross receipts as income; it has nothing to do with GST. GST liability depends solely on aggregate turnover crossing the registration threshold and the nature of your supplies. In fact, the two departments now cross-match data, so gross receipts reported in your ITR and Form 26AS that exceed the GST turnover you declared are a known trigger for notices. Treat the two laws as parallel obligations, each with its own limits and filings.
I returned an advance because the deal was cancelled. What document do I issue?
It depends on how far the paperwork went. If you had issued only a receipt voucher and no tax invoice, you issue a refund voucher under Rule 51 when returning the advance, and the tax paid on that advance can be adjusted. If a tax invoice had already been issued, the cancellation is handled through a credit note under Section 34 instead. The refund voucher records the original receipt voucher reference, the amount refunded and the tax involved. Event managers and contractors see cancellations regularly, and using the wrong document between these two is a common reconciliation error.
How do I document free samples and gifts given to customers?
Goods supplied genuinely free of cost to unrelated persons are not a supply, so no tax invoice is raised and no GST is charged; the movement is covered by a delivery challan marked as free samples. The cost is that input tax credit on those goods must be reversed. Two traps deserve care: gifts to related persons or between distinct GSTINs of the same PAN are taxable under Schedule I even without consideration, and promotional schemes like buy one get one are treated as a single price for two items, taxed normally with credit intact. Structure your Ramapuram promotions with this distinction in mind.
Can I transfer cash ledger balance from one GSTIN to another GSTIN of the same PAN?
Yes, within limits. Under Section 49(10), unutilised IGST and CGST balances in the electronic cash ledger can be transferred through PMT-09 to the cash ledger of a distinct person, that is, another GSTIN registered on the same PAN in the same or another state. SGST balances cannot be moved across states in this manner. The transfer is not permitted if the transferring GSTIN has any unpaid liability standing in its electronic liability register. Multi-state businesses headquartered in Ramapuram use this to shift idle deposits to the branch that actually needs the cash, avoiding fresh working capital outflow.
Is GST still charged on health insurance premiums?
Not on individual policies. With effect from 22 September 2025, premiums on all individual life insurance policies and individual health insurance policies, including family floater and senior citizen plans, are exempt from GST, along with their reinsurance. Earlier these attracted 18 percent, so the change directly reduces the premium outgo for households. Group policies taken by businesses for employees continue to be taxable, and the input tax credit position on such group covers still depends on whether the cover is statutorily obligatory. When renewing policies, check that the insurer has passed on the exemption rather than merely repricing the premium.
How do I track the status of a grievance ticket or any ARN I have on the GST portal?
For grievance tickets, open selfservice.gstsystem.in and use Check Status by entering the ticket reference number; the screen shows whether it is open, under processing or resolved, with the resolution comments. For applications filed on the main portal, log in and use Services, then Track Application Status, choosing the module and entering the ARN, or open My Applications to see every application with its case detail folder, notices and replies in one place. Diarise every ARN the day it is generated, because reply windows run from portal timestamps. ChennaiGST maintains an ARN tracker for every client engagement.
Which GST office handles Ramapuram businesses?
Businesses in Ramapuram (PIN 600089) generally fall under the CGST Chennai South Commissionerate, with state-jurisdiction cases handled by the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department. Your exact division and range can be confirmed from your GSTIN on the GST portal. We regularly appear before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and hearings, so we know the local practice and documentation preferences.

The fee of Rs.2,999 and the process are the same regardless of size, and we explain the compliance position in plain language — in Tamil or English — so you understand what is being filed on your behalf and why.
