Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for Dhandeeswaram Nagar 3rd Main Road, Velachery

Velachery is a retail powerhouse anchored by Phoenix Marketcity and the dense shopfronts of Velachery Main Road and Taramani Link Road, with IT offices and e-commerce delivery hubs behind them. Online sellers here must reconcile marketplace TCS credits with GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B every month, and mismatches between portal reports and books are the area's most common notice trigger. When businesses of this kind evaluate GST Notice Reply, the real question is not price alone but who answers when something goes wrong. We serve Velachery, Guindy and Madipakkam on a standing commitment: responses within the same working day, senior scrutiny before every submission, and continued support if the department ever writes back on work carrying our preparation.

GST jurisdiction for Velachery (PIN 600042): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai South Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Velachery before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for IT and SaaS Companies in Velachery
IT and SaaS services are taxed at 18 percent domestically, but the real complexity is qualifying overseas billing as export under Section 2(6) of the IGST Act: the recipient must be outside India, consideration must arrive in convertible foreign exchange or INR where RBI permits, and the Indian entity and foreign recipient must not be mere establishments of the same person. Marketing or support arms serving a foreign parent risk classification as intermediaries under Section 13(8), making the place of supply India and the income taxable. Supplies to SEZ units are zero-rated with proper endorsements. A specialist structures contracts and invoicing so export status survives departmental scrutiny.
Yes, GST Notice Reply in Velachery can be completed fully online — no office visit is required at any stage, since e-signatures, OTP verification and digital document exchange cover the entire formality, with fees from Rs.2,999.
Why Us

Why Dhandeeswaram Nagar 3rd Main Road, Velachery Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

Fast, Clean Registrations and Amendments

New GSTIN applications, core field amendments through REG-14, additional places of business — we prepare complete, query-resistant applications the first time. Clean paperwork is the difference between smooth approval and weeks lost answering clarification memos from the department.

Zero Tolerance for Late Fees and Interest

GSTR-3B late fees run at Rs.50 per day and interest at 18 percent per annum on unpaid tax. Our internal cut-offs sit days ahead of statutory due dates precisely so that our clients never hand the department a rupee they did not owe.

ITC Maximisation Within the Law

We match your purchase register against GSTR-2B every period, follow up on invoices your suppliers have not uploaded, and ensure every rupee of eligible input tax credit is claimed. Clients routinely recover credit they were silently losing under self-filing.

One Dedicated Point of Contact

You deal with one accountable person who knows your business, your turnover pattern and your filing history. No repeating your story to a new voice every month, and no file falling between two desks when a deadline is approaching.

Every Return Reviewed by a Senior Consultant

No filing leaves our desk on a junior's judgement alone. A senior GST practitioner reviews your figures, ITC claims and tax computation before submission, so errors are caught at our table and not by the department months later through a notice.

GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C Handled In-House

The annual return and, where turnover crosses Rs.5 crore, the self-certified reconciliation statement in GSTR-9C are prepared by the same team that filed your monthly returns. Nothing about your year has to be rediscovered or explained to a stranger in December.

How It Works

Our Notice Reply Process

Notice study

We read the notice line by line, identify the section invoked, the periods covered, the exact information sought and the deadline for response.

Data reconciliation

The figures alleged in the notice are reconciled against your filed returns, GSTR-2B and books, so the reply is grounded in verifiable numbers rather than assertions.

Reply drafting

We draft a professional, point-wise reply addressing every allegation, attaching reconciliations, invoices and legal support, and share the draft with you for approval.

Filing and payment

The approved reply is filed on the portal within the deadline. Where a small genuine liability exists, we advise payment through DRC-03 to limit interest and penalty.

Closure tracking

We monitor the portal for the officer's response, attend to any further queries or hearing dates, and pursue the matter until a closure or order is received.

Outcomes

What You Get

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

Better Cash Flow Planning

You know your expected GST outflow days before the 20th, not on the night of filing. That advance visibility lets you plan payments, collections and bank balances instead of scrambling for funds at the deadline.

The Lowest Tax Position the Law Allows

Your scheme choice — regular, composition or QRMP — is re-examined as turnover and margins change, so you are always paying under the structure that legitimately costs your business the least.

Waiver Benefits Never Missed

Late-fee waivers and amnesty windows notified by the GST Council are applied to your history within their deadlines, capturing reliefs that most businesses only hear about once the window has already closed.

TDS and TCS Credits Converted to Cash

Amounts deducted by government buyers as GST TDS and by marketplaces as TCS are accepted on the portal each period, so money withheld against your GSTIN actually reaches your cash ledger instead of lying unclaimed.

Reduced Dependence on One Employee

When GST knowledge lives inside a single staff member, their resignation becomes a compliance crisis. With our firm as the standing process, your filings continue uninterrupted regardless of internal staff changes.

Annual Returns Without the Year-End Scramble

Because monthly data is reconciled as it happens, GSTR-9 preparation before the 31 December due date becomes a review exercise rather than a painful reconstruction of twelve untidy months.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Refund claimsRFD-01 filed with complete statements and annexures, tracked from ARN to bank credit, with any deficiency memo answered promptly.Incomplete claims bounce back as deficiency memos while the refund sits unclaimed for months and working capital stays blocked.
When a notice arrivesA professional drafts the reply in the department's format and files it within the statutory window, such as thirty days for ASMT-11.You face departmental language alone, and a missed reply deadline can convert a simple query into a demand with penalty.
Goods in transitE-way bills generated correctly and matched to invoices, so consignments pass roadside inspections without detention or penalty.A defective or missing e-way bill can mean detention at a checkpoint, with penalties that dwarf the tax on the consignment.
Late fees and interestFilings go in ahead of statutory dates, so the Rs.50-per-day late fee and 18 percent interest never arise.Late fees accumulate silently every delayed day, and interest on unpaid tax runs at 18 percent per annum.
Portal credentials and dataLogins handled by a small engaged team under strict confidentiality, with credentials stored securely and never passed onward.Passwords circulating on chats with freelancers and part-timers, and no accountability for who has accessed your business data.
Registration and amendmentsQuery-resistant applications prepared correctly the first time, with supporting documents matched to what proper officers actually verify.Repeated clarification memos and resubmissions, with weeks lost because a rent agreement or premises photograph did not meet expectations.

Case Law

Determination of tax is not a precondition for prosecuting a fake invoice offence

Bharat Raj Punj v. Commissioner of Central Goods and Service Tax — Rajasthan High Court, Jaipur Bench, S.B. Criminal Writ Petition No. 76 of 2019, judgment dated 12 March 2019 · 2019-03-12

The petitioner argued that no arrest or prosecution could follow without first determining the tax liability under Sections 73 or 74. The High Court rejected this, holding that for an offence under Section 132 determination of tax is not required and the department may proceed directly by issuing summons, or by arrest where reasonable grounds exist. The Court distinguished cases of mere non-payment of collected tax from the fraudulent availment of credit on fake invoices alleged here.

Why this matters: Where fake invoices are alleged, do not assume the absence of an assessment order protects you from criminal proceedings.

Portal Advisory

Form DRC-03A lets you link a DRC-03 payment to the demand order

GSTN Advisory, November 2024 — Form GST DRC-03A functionality on the portal (Rule 142(2B) and Notification No. 12/2024-Central Tax, dated 10 July 2024) · 2024-11

Many taxpayers paid confirmed demands through Form DRC-03 rather than through the payment option against the demand order, so the amount was never adjusted in the electronic liability register and the demand continued to show as outstanding, exposing them to recovery action. Rule 142(2B) and Form GST DRC-03A were introduced to allow such payments to be linked with the relevant demand order, and GSTN enabled the form on the portal in November 2024.

Practical effect: If you settled a GST demand through DRC-03, file DRC-03A at once so the liability register closes and no recovery notice follows.

GST Council

SGST and UTGST laws and the compensation cess ceilings approved

12th GST Council Meeting, New Delhi — 16 March 2017 (Signed Minutes, Agenda Items 2, 3 and 4) · 2017-03-16

The Council approved the draft SGST law and the draft UTGST law, completing the legislative package begun at the previous meeting, and also approved amendments to the GST (Compensation to States) Bill including the ceiling rates at which compensation cess could be imposed. Placing the cess ceilings in the statute meant that later cess increases, such as the one on cigarettes a few months afterwards, could be made by notification without returning to Parliament.

What it means for you: Tamil Nadu's own SGST Act follows the template approved here, which is why the State and Central provisions a Chennai business faces are near-identical.

Free Tool

Already Holding the Notice? Read It in About a Minute

Upload the PDF to our free GST Notice Analyser. It identifies which of 34 notice types you have, pulls out the DIN, GSTIN and tax period, reads the reply date printed on the notice and tells you plainly whether that date has already passed — along with the documents and reconciliations you will need. No payment, no account. If the notice does not state a date we can read, it says so rather than guessing one for you.

Analyse my notice — free WhatsApp it to a consultant

The analyser reports what your notice says and the statutory position for that form. It is not a substitute for a consultant reading your actual records, and a reply should be reviewed before you file it.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

What is the process for GST notice reply?
The process runs in clear stages: Notice study; Data reconciliation; Reply drafting; Filing and payment. A senior consultant reviews your file at each stage rather than passing it to a data-entry desk, and you receive a confirmation with the filed documents once it is complete. You always know which stage your work is at — we update you on WhatsApp instead of leaving you to follow up.
Do you provide GST notice reply for businesses on Dhandeeswaram Nagar 3rd Main Road?
Yes. We serve businesses on and around Dhandeeswaram Nagar 3rd Main Road in Velachery — shops, offices, godowns and home-run businesses alike. Document pickup can be arranged at your premises, or you can send everything on WhatsApp and complete notice reply without leaving your counter. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 and mention your location; a consultant will confirm the fee and timeline immediately.
An ASMT-13 best judgment order was passed against me. Can it still be nullified by filing the return?
Yes, Section 62 contains a self-correcting mechanism. If you furnish the valid return within sixty days of service of the ASMT-13 assessment order, the order is deemed withdrawn automatically, though late fee and interest remain payable. The Finance Act 2023 added a further cushion effective 1 October 2023: even after the sixty days, you can file the return within an additional sixty days by paying an extra late fee of Rs.100 per day under the CGST Act, with a matching state levy, for each day beyond the first window, and the order still stands withdrawn. Beyond the full one hundred and twenty days, the estimated demand becomes enforceable, leaving appeal as the remedy.
I missed the deadline to reply to a GST notice. What are my options now?
Act immediately, because delay narrows your options. If no order has been passed yet, file a belated reply with a condonation request explaining the delay and appear at the personal hearing; officers frequently take late replies on record before adjudicating. If an ex parte order has already been issued, you can file an appeal in Form APL-01 within three months of the order, paying the mandatory pre-deposit of 10 percent of the disputed tax. Many Velachery taxpayers discover notices only after the order stage because they never checked the Additional Notices tab, so a quick portal review is the first step.
What imprisonment terms does GST law prescribe, and which offences are non-bailable?
Section 132 links punishment to the amount involved: imprisonment up to five years with fine where the tax evaded or credit misused exceeds Rs.5 crore, up to three years where it exceeds Rs.2 crore, and up to one year for the Rs.1 crore to Rs.2 crore band, which after the Finance Act 2023 changes survives only for the offence of issuing invoices without supply. A repeat conviction can attract up to five years regardless of amount. Offences involving supply without invoice, invoices without supply, credit from such invoices, and collected-but-not-deposited tax are cognizable and non-bailable when the amount exceeds Rs.5 crore; everything else is non-cognizable and bailable. Courts take cognizance only with the Commissioner's previous sanction.
Is everyone facing GST prosecution eligible to apply for compounding?
No. The statute excludes several categories. A person who has already been allowed to compound once in respect of the specified serious offences cannot compound again. Persons accused of issuing invoices without any supply of goods or services, the classic fake billing offence, were excluded from compounding altogether by the Finance Act 2023, and anyone convicted by a court under the GST law is also barred. Notably, the same 2023 amendments removed the earlier bar on compounding where the conduct was also an offence under another law, so that ground no longer disqualifies an applicant. Eligibility should be assessed before paying the underlying dues, since payment is a precondition but not a guarantee of compounding.
I applied for GST registration in Velachery and received a REG-03 notice. What does it mean?
Form REG-03 is a notice seeking clarification on your GST registration application. The officer may question your proof of principal place of business, promoter identity documents or the nature of business declared. You must reply in Form REG-04 within seven working days of the notice, uploading the clarification and supporting documents on the GST portal. If no reply is filed, the officer can reject the application in Form REG-05. Many Velachery applications are queried over rental agreements and electricity bills, so have the property papers vetted before replying. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 if you need the REG-04 response drafted properly.
What is the general penalty under Section 125 and when is it imposed?
Section 125 is the residual penalty provision for contraventions of the Act or rules for which no separate penalty is prescribed anywhere else. It can extend to Rs.25,000 under the CGST Act, with a matching penalty under the SGST Act, so the practical exposure is up to Rs.50,000 per contravention. Officers invoke it for procedural lapses such as not displaying the registration certificate, minor documentation errors during transit, or failure to furnish information called for. Because the amount is discretionary, a reasoned reply showing the breach was technical and without revenue loss often brings the figure down substantially.
What is the difference between GST return scrutiny and a departmental audit?
Scrutiny under Section 61 is a desk review of your filed returns, where the officer points out specific discrepancies through ASMT-10 and you explain them in ASMT-11; it is limited to what the returns reveal. An audit under Section 65 is far wider: officers examine your books of account, records and returns together, can visit your premises, and test classification, valuation, ITC eligibility and exemptions for the years covered by the ADT-01. Scrutiny can be closed with a good reconciliation; an audit needs sustained document management and negotiation over weeks. Both, if unresolved, end in Section 73 or 74 demands, so early professional handling pays.
How will I know my scrutiny reply has been accepted by the GST officer?
If your explanation in ASMT-11 is found acceptable, the officer issues Form ASMT-12 informing you that the discrepancies stand explained and no further action is required on those points. The order appears in your Additional Notices and Orders tab on the portal. Keep the ASMT-12 safely with your reconciliation working papers, because the same period can still come up in a later audit and the closure order is your best shield. If instead the officer is not satisfied, expect a DRC-01A or show cause notice. Many Velachery clients receive ASMT-12 within weeks when the reply is complete and well-annexed.
Who can help me reply to a GST scrutiny notice near me?
Look for a practitioner who handles scrutiny replies regularly, not just return filing, because an ASMT-11 stands or falls on the quality of its reconciliations. ChennaiGST assists businesses in Velachery and across Chennai with the complete cycle: reading the ASMT-10, extracting the portal data, matching GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-2B and books, drafting the reply, paying any admitted amount in DRC-03 and following up until the ASMT-12 closure order. Fees start at Rs.2,999 depending on the number of discrepancy points. Share the notice on +91 - 9600 606 444 and we will confirm the scope and timeline the same day.
How do I file Form PMT-09 to move money between heads in my cash ledger?
Log in and open Services, then Ledgers, then Electronic Cash Ledger, and select File GST PMT-09 for transfer of amount. The screen shows your balance under each major and minor head. Choose the transfer-from head and amount, choose the transfer-to head, add the details to the table, preview and file with DSC or EVC. The transfer reflects in the ledger immediately and an ARN is generated for your records. There is no limit on how often PMT-09 can be filed, and no government fee applies, so it is always the first fix for a wrong-head deposit.
How is GST charged on hotel room tariffs after the rate changes?
Hotel accommodation with a value of supply up to Rs.7,500 per unit per day attracts 5 percent GST without input tax credit, a reduction from the earlier 12 percent. Rooms priced above Rs.7,500 per day attract 18 percent with full input tax credit. The rate is determined by the actual transaction value charged for the room, so seasonal discounts can change the applicable rate on the same room across bookings. Lodges and hotels around Velachery should configure billing software to test the per-day value on each invoice rather than fixing one rate for the property.
How is interest calculated on a GST demand or late payment?
Interest runs at 18 percent per annum under Section 50 on tax paid after the due date, computed day-wise from the day following the due date until payment. Following amendments, interest on delayed GSTR-3B liability applies on the portion paid through the electronic cash ledger, and interest on wrongly availed ITC arises where the credit has been both availed and utilised. Interest is payable even where no penalty applies, and it cannot be waived by the officer. Because interest compounds silently over long disputes, paying the admitted tax early through DRC-03, even while contesting the rest, often saves a substantial amount.
How do I round off tax amounts on a GST invoice?
Section 170 of the CGST Act prescribes normal rounding to the nearest rupee: where the tax contains a part of a rupee, fifty paise or more is rounded up to one rupee, and less than fifty paise is ignored. The rounding is applied to the tax amount on each invoice, separately for each tax head, so CGST and SGST are each rounded individually rather than rounding only the invoice total. Most billing software handles this automatically, but spreadsheets and manual bills often round the grand total instead, creating one-rupee mismatches that clutter reconciliations across thousands of invoices.
What is self-invoicing under RCM and is there a time limit for it?
When you receive supplies liable to reverse charge from an unregistered supplier, Section 31(3)(f) requires you, the recipient, to issue an invoice on yourself, because the supplier cannot issue a tax invoice. You must also issue a payment voucher when paying the supplier. From 1 November 2024, Rule 47A prescribes a firm deadline: the self-invoice must be issued within thirty days of receiving the supply. This document is not a formality; the time limit for claiming the RCM credit is reckoned from the self-invoice, and its absence can cost you the credit besides inviting penalty. Maintain a monthly self-invoice series covering rent, freight, legal fees and similar unregistered-supplier heads.
Which daily-use grocery items became cheaper under GST from September 2025?
The 56th GST Council's rationalisation, effective 22 September 2025, moved a large basket of daily essentials from 12% or 18% down to 5%, including butter, ghee, cheese, namkeens, sauces, pasta, chocolates, biscuits, cornflakes, hair oil, shampoo, soaps and toothpaste. UHT milk, pre-packaged paneer and all Indian breads such as roti, chapati and paratha became nil rated. Aerated and caffeinated beverages, by contrast, went to the 40% demerit rate. Grocery and supermarket billing masters needed a near-complete refresh from that date, and old stock is simply sold at the new rate applicable on the date of supply.
Can I transfer cash ledger balance from one GSTIN to another GSTIN of the same PAN?
Yes, within limits. Under Section 49(10), unutilised IGST and CGST balances in the electronic cash ledger can be transferred through PMT-09 to the cash ledger of a distinct person, that is, another GSTIN registered on the same PAN in the same or another state. SGST balances cannot be moved across states in this manner. The transfer is not permitted if the transferring GSTIN has any unpaid liability standing in its electronic liability register. Multi-state businesses headquartered in Velachery use this to shift idle deposits to the branch that actually needs the cash, avoiding fresh working capital outflow.
Are there any hidden charges for GST notice reply?
No. The fee quoted before we start is the fee you pay. Government fees, portal charges or statutory late fees, where they apply, are separate and disclosed to you in advance with the exact amount. We issue a proper GST invoice for our professional fee. If the scope of work changes — for example, an unexpected notice or additional periods — we tell you the revised fee before doing anything further.
Which GST office handles Velachery businesses?
Businesses in Velachery (PIN 600042) generally fall under the CGST Chennai South Commissionerate, with state-jurisdiction cases handled by the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department. Your exact division and range can be confirmed from your GSTIN on the GST portal. We regularly appear before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and hearings, so we know the local practice and documentation preferences.
Is there a GST consultant near Velachery for gst notice reply?
