Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for Nanmangalam

Every locality in Chennai has its own commercial rhythm, and Nanmangalam is no exception. Nanmangalam, ringed by the Nanmangalam Reserve Forest and its worked-out quarries, hosts blue-metal crushers, M-sand and ready-mix depots, lorry fleets and building-material yards along Dr. Ambedkar Main Road, Vadakkupattu Road and S.I.V.E.T. College Road towards Medavakkam Koot Road. Reverse charge on mining royalty and seigniorage, and e-way bills for short-haul aggregate lorries, are the recurring disputes here. Our practice has shaped its GST Appeal APL-01 work around exactly these realities, serving clients in Nanmangalam as well as Kovilambakkam and Medavakkam. Registrations, returns, refunds and notice replies are handled by one accountable team, with fees fixed in writing before work begins and every filing reconciled against portal data before it is submitted.

GST jurisdiction for Nanmangalam (PIN 600129): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai South Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Nanmangalam before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for Professional Services Firms in Nanmangalam
Professional firms bill at 18 percent, but the mechanics differ by profession: services of advocates to business entities are taxed in the client's hands under reverse charge, while chartered accountants, company secretaries and architects charge tax on their own invoices. Fees received in advance are taxable on receipt, and retainers must be invoiced within the time limits of Section 31(2). Amounts recovered from clients as a pure agent, such as government fees paid on their behalf, stay outside taxable value only if every condition of Rule 33 is met and documented. A specialist sets up retainer invoicing, pure agent documentation and branch cross-charges correctly; call +91 - 9600 606 444 to discuss your firm.
Urgent GST Appeal APL-01 in Nanmangalam is handled on priority — expiring deadlines, suspended registrations and notice replies are taken up the same working day, with fixed professional fees starting at Rs.9,999.
Why Us

Why Nanmangalam Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

✓

We Work with Your Existing Software

Tally, Zoho Books, Busy, marketplace reports, plain Excel or even a handwritten bill book — we take your data in whatever form your Nanmangalam business already maintains it. You are never forced to buy new software or retrain staff just to become our client.

✓

Support Through Audits and Hearings

When an ADT-01 audit intimation or a personal hearing date arrives, we compile the records, prepare the reconciliations and draft the submissions, and coordinate closely with your authorised representative. You walk into the proceeding prepared, not improvising in front of an officer.

✓

Job Work Movements Tracked Through ITC-04

Goods sent to job workers must move on delivery challans, return within the statutory period, and be reported in ITC-04. We track every outward and return leg for manufacturing clients in Nanmangalam, so inputs sent out for processing never quietly convert into a deemed supply carrying tax and interest.

✓

Notice-Proof Filing Discipline

Most GST notices trace back to mismatches between GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B. We reconcile these before filing, not after a notice arrives, so your returns are internally consistent and the most common triggers for ASMT-10 scrutiny simply never appear.

✓

E-Commerce Seller Reconciliation, Including TCS

Sellers on Amazon, Flipkart and other marketplaces face a three-way match between marketplace reports, GSTR-1 and the TCS the operator deposits against your GSTIN. We reconcile all three every period and accept the TCS credit, so sellers in Nanmangalam never leave marketplace deductions unclaimed.

✓

E-Invoice and E-Way Bill Fluency

E-invoicing is mandatory once turnover crosses Rs.5 crore and e-way bills apply to goods movements above Rs.50,000. We set up, train and troubleshoot both systems, so your despatches from Nanmangalam are never held up by a compliance gap at the gate.

How It Works

Our GST Appeal Process

Order study and strategy

We analyse the order for factual, computational and legal errors, confirm the three-month limitation position, and agree the grounds on which the appeal will proceed.

Pre-deposit arrangement

The disputed tax is quantified, the mandatory 10% pre-deposit is computed, and payment is made through the cash or credit ledger so recovery of the balance is stayed.

Appeal drafting

The statement of facts and grounds of appeal are drafted with supporting reconciliations and judicial precedents, and reviewed with you before filing.

APL-01 filing

The appeal is filed on the portal in Form APL-01 with annexures, and the final acknowledgement in APL-02 is obtained after submission of the certified order copy.

Hearing and outcome

We file written submissions, appear at the personal hearing, address the authority's questions, and follow the matter through to the appellate order in APL-04.

Outcomes

What You Get

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

★

Peace of Mind Around Due Dates

The 11th and the 20th stop being days of dread. You approve a prepared draft, we file, and the acknowledgement lands on your WhatsApp — month after month, without drama.

★

Advances Treated Correctly

Advances received for services attract GST on receipt while advances for goods generally do not; applying this distinction correctly means you neither prepay tax unnecessarily nor omit a liability that surfaces later with interest.

★

TDS and TCS Credits Converted to Cash

Amounts deducted by government buyers as GST TDS and by marketplaces as TCS are accepted on the portal each period, so money withheld against your GSTIN actually reaches your cash ledger instead of lying unclaimed.

★

Notices Answered Within the Time Limit

Statutory windows such as thirty days for an ASMT-11 reply are tracked from the day a notice arrives, so responses go in on time, complete, and with your best case properly presented.

★

Tax Paid Under the Right Head

Getting IGST versus CGST and SGST right at the invoice stage spares you the painful cycle of paying the correct head again and pursuing a refund of the amount paid under the wrong one.

★

Audit-Ready Records at All Times

Filed returns, challans, reconciliations and working papers are archived in order from day one. If an audit or departmental verification comes, your file is ready the same week, not assembled in a panic.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Late fees and interestFilings go in ahead of statutory dates, so the Rs.50-per-day late fee and 18 percent interest never arise.Late fees accumulate silently every delayed day, and interest on unpaid tax runs at 18 percent per annum.
Portal credentials and dataLogins handled by a small engaged team under strict confidentiality, with credentials stored securely and never passed onward.Passwords circulating on chats with freelancers and part-timers, and no accountability for who has accessed your business data.
Supplier defaultsSuppliers who stop uploading invoices are identified within the period and pursued before their default becomes your blocked credit.Missing supplier invoices surface only when credit is denied, by which time recovering the amount from the vendor is difficult.
Keeping up with changesRate changes, portal updates and new thresholds such as the Rs.5 crore e-invoice limit are tracked by us and applied to your case proactively.Changes are discovered after the fact — often through a rejected filing, a blocked e-way bill or a departmental letter.
Time costRoughly an hour a month to send data and approve drafts; the portal work, reconciliation and follow-up are ours.Hours every month lost to portal errors, JSON files, OTP failures and reworking figures — usually on the due date itself.
When a notice arrivesA professional drafts the reply in the department's format and files it within the statutory window, such as thirty days for ASMT-11.You face departmental language alone, and a missed reply deadline can convert a simple query into a demand with penalty.
Law Update

GST Rulings and Notifications That Affect You — relevant to Nanmangalam businesses

GST law moves through notifications, circulars and court decisions. These are the ones changing how filings are prepared right now.

Case Law

The 10 per cent appeal pre-deposit may be paid by debiting the electronic credit ledger

M/s. Ford India (P) Ltd v. Office of the Joint Commissioner (ST), GST Appeals — Madras High Court, W.P. Nos. 35448 and 35451 of 2023 and connected matters, decided 22 November 2024 (Krishnan Ramasamy J.) · 2024-11-22

Appeals had been returned by deficiency memo because the mandatory pre-deposit under Section 107(6) was paid from the electronic credit ledger rather than in cash. The Madras High Court quashed the deficiency memo and held that the pre-deposit may be made by debiting the electronic credit ledger, since such a payment answers the description of output tax and a CBIC circular expressly permits it. Appeals rejected only on this ground were directed to be taken up.

Practical effect: If you have accumulated credit, you can fund the 10 per cent appeal pre-deposit from the credit ledger instead of blocking working capital in cash.

AAR Ruling

Canteen contractor serving food in office premises taxable at 5 percent

Goodwill Industrial Canteen - AAR Tamil Nadu, Order No. TN/09/AAR/2018, dated 30 August 2018 · 2018-08-30

The applicant prepared food and served it in the canteens of client companies at their premises. It sought the rate applicable to this arrangement. The Authority held that the supply of food and beverages on the premises of an industrial undertaking was taxable at 18 percent up to 26 July 2018 and at 5 percent from 27 July 2018, when the restaurant service entry was amended to cover canteens at offices and factories, the concessional rate being available without input tax credit.

Practical effect: Chennai canteen contractors should bill factory and office canteens at 5 percent and forgo input tax credit on their purchases.

GST Council

Council clears entire pending GST compensation dues to states

49th GST Council Meeting, New Delhi — 18 February 2023 · 2023-02-18

The 49th GST Council meeting decided to clear the entire balance of GST compensation dues to states, with the Centre releasing Rs 16,982 crore for June 2022 from its own resources pending cess collections. The Council also approved release of admissible final compensation to states that had furnished revenue figures certified by their Accountant General. This closed the five-year compensation window promised to states at the launch of GST, while cess collections continued to service the back-to-back loans taken during COVID.

What to do about it: Compensation cess on items like aerated drinks, coal and motor vehicles continued to apply to fund loan repayment, so businesses dealing in cess goods had to keep charging it.

Already Holding the Notice? Read It in About a Minute

Upload the PDF to our free GST Notice Analyser. It identifies which of 34 notice types you have, pulls out the DIN, GSTIN and tax period, reads the reply date printed on the notice and tells you plainly whether that date has already passed — along with the documents and reconciliations you will need. No payment, no account. If the notice does not state a date we can read, it says so rather than guessing one for you.

Analyse my notice — free WhatsApp it to a consultant

The analyser reports what your notice says and the statutory position for that form. It is not a substitute for a consultant reading your actual records, and a reply should be reviewed before you file it.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

Are there any hidden charges for GST appeal APL-01?
No. The fee quoted before we start is the fee you pay. Government fees, portal charges or statutory late fees, where they apply, are separate and disclosed to you in advance with the exact amount. We issue a proper GST invoice for our professional fee. If the scope of work changes — for example, an unexpected notice or additional periods — we tell you the revised fee before doing anything further.
How much does GST appeal APL-01 cost in Nanmangalam?
Our fee for GST appeal APL-01 in Nanmangalam starts at Rs.9,999 and is quoted in full before we begin — there are no hidden charges added later. The fee covers professional work end to end: document review, preparation, filing and follow-up until completion. Government fees or portal charges, where applicable, are separate and always shown to you upfront. For an exact quote based on your turnover and business type, call +91 - 9600 606 444 and a consultant will confirm it on the call.
What happens after I file Form APL-01 on the GST portal?
The portal issues a provisional acknowledgment immediately, and the appeal is formally admitted when the final acknowledgment in APL-02 is issued after document verification. The appellate authority then fixes personal hearings, where your authorised representative argues the grounds and files written submissions and case law. Up to three adjournments may be granted per side. The authority must pass a speaking order, which it should endeavour to issue within one year of filing, and the outcome is communicated in a summary along with the order. The authority can confirm, modify or annul the order but cannot send the case back to the original officer.
I discovered an old ASMT-13 order only after the return-filing window closed. What can I do now?
Once the sixty-day window and the further sixty-day extended window under Section 62 have both lapsed, filing the return no longer withdraws the order, and the estimated demand in the liability register becomes recoverable. Your remedy shifts to an appeal in Form APL-01 within three months of the order's communication, with the prescribed pre-deposit, arguing the actual figures from your books against the officer's estimate. Appellate authorities regularly scale down best judgment estimates when the genuine return data is placed on record. Check the Additional Notices tab for any other unnoticed orders at the same time; Nanmangalam non-filers often find several. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 urgently.
My three-month appeal deadline has passed. Can I still file a GST appeal?
You have a narrow lifeline. The appellate authority can condone a delay of up to one month beyond the three-month limit if you demonstrate sufficient cause, such as illness or circumstances genuinely beyond control, so file APL-01 immediately with a detailed condonation application and evidence. Beyond three months plus one month, the appellate authority has no statutory power to admit the appeal, and your remaining options shrink to a writ petition before the Madras High Court in fit cases, or any amnesty scheme the government may notify. Do not add even a day's further delay; call +91 - 9600 606 444 today for an urgent filing.
How much pre-deposit do I have to pay for a GST appeal?
To file an appeal you must pay the admitted tax, interest and penalty in full, plus a pre-deposit of 10 percent of the disputed tax amount. Only the tax in dispute counts for the 10 percent; disputed interest and penalty do not require any pre-deposit, except that an appeal against an e-way bill detention penalty order under Section 129(3) requires payment of 25 percent of the penalty. Once the appeal is filed with this payment, recovery proceedings for the balance amount are deemed stayed until the appeal is decided. The pre-deposit can be paid from the electronic cash ledger, and courts have also accepted credit ledger payment for the tax component. ChennaiGST computes the exact pre-deposit for Nanmangalam clients so nothing extra is blocked.
If I lose the first appeal, what does it cost to go to the GST Appellate Tribunal?
An appeal to the GST Appellate Tribunal requires payment of the admitted dues in full plus an additional pre-deposit of 10 percent of the disputed tax, over and above the 10 percent already paid at the first appeal stage. Following the Finance (No. 2) Act 2024 amendments effective 1 November 2024, this additional deposit was reduced from the earlier 20 percent, and is capped at Rs.20 crore each under CGST and SGST. On payment, recovery of the balance demand stays until the Tribunal decides. With the Tribunal benches now being operationalised, orders in limbo for years can finally be tested; keep certified copies of every order ready.
My GST registration was cancelled. Should I file an appeal or a revocation application?
If the cancellation was initiated by the department, for example for non-filing, the primary remedy is a revocation application in Form REG-21 within ninety days of the cancellation order, after filing all pending returns and clearing tax, interest and late fees. Revocation is quicker and handled by the same jurisdictional officer. An appeal in APL-01 within three months is the route when revocation is rejected, when the ninety-day window is lost, or when you dispute the very grounds of cancellation. Choosing the wrong track wastes precious weeks while your Nanmangalam business cannot issue tax invoices, so decide with advice on day one.
My shop in Nanmangalam had GST cancelled because I stopped filing returns during a slow period. What now?
This is the most common revocation scenario we see in Nanmangalam. The sequence is: download the cancellation order and note its date, since your ninety-day REG-21 window runs from service of that order; compute and file every pending GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B up to the cancellation date; pay the tax with 18 percent interest and the late fees; then file REG-21 with a clear explanation of the lapse and proof of regularisation. Until revocation is granted you cannot issue tax invoices or generate e-way bills, so move quickly. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 with your GSTIN and we will assess the backlog the same day.
I got a show cause notice in REG-17 threatening cancellation of my GST registration. What should I do?
Form REG-17 is issued when the officer proposes to cancel your registration, commonly for continuous non-filing of returns, non-existence at the declared premises or wrongful ITC availment. You must reply in Form REG-18 within seven working days and attend the hearing if one is fixed. If the reply satisfies the officer, proceedings are dropped in REG-20; otherwise cancellation is ordered in REG-19. If cancellation happens, you can seek revocation in Form REG-21 within ninety days after filing all pending returns and paying dues. Because cancelled registrations freeze e-way bills and invoicing, treat a REG-17 in Nanmangalam as urgent.
Can a person who never filed the returns still be penalised in a fake invoice case?
Yes. Section 122(1A) targets the person at whose instance fake transactions are conducted and who retains the benefit, even if the invoices were issued through some other entity. Where the offence involves supplying without an invoice, issuing invoices without supply, or availing or passing on credit from such invoices, the beneficiary faces a penalty equal to the tax evaded or the credit availed or passed on. This is how masterminds behind billing rackets are penalised alongside the front companies. If your GSTIN in Nanmangalam has been misused by a third party, respond to any such notice with evidence immediately; call +91 - 9600 606 444.
What GST rate applies to cars and two-wheelers now?
Small cars, meaning petrol cars up to 1200cc and diesel cars up to 1500cc with length not exceeding 4 metres, attract 18 percent GST, down sharply from the earlier 28 percent plus cess. Larger cars, SUVs above these specifications, attract the 40 percent rate, but with the compensation cess gone, the overall burden on most of them is still lower than before. Motorcycles up to 350cc are at 18 percent, while those above 350cc attract 40 percent. Electric vehicles continue at a concessional 5 percent. Dealers must also apply these rates to demo vehicle sales.
What is the difference between a GST credit note and a commercial credit note?
A GST credit note is issued under Section 34, is reported in GSTR-1, and reduces your output tax, with the buyer reversing equivalent input credit. A commercial or financial credit note adjusts only the money owed between the parties; it carries no GST, is not reported in returns, and leaves everyone's tax position untouched. Businesses use commercial credit notes when the 30 November deadline has passed, or for post-supply discounts that do not satisfy the statutory conditions for a tax adjustment. Choosing the wrong instrument is a frequent audit finding, so decide the type before the note is issued.
Is GST payable on my YouTube AdSense earnings?
AdSense payments come from a Google entity located outside India and are remitted in convertible foreign exchange, so for an Indian creator this revenue generally qualifies as export of services, zero-rated when supplied under an LUT after registration. The income still counts towards your Rs.20 lakh aggregate turnover, so a creator whose combined receipts cross the threshold must register even if the entire revenue is export. Brand sponsorships from Indian companies, by contrast, are domestic supplies taxable at 18 percent. Keep the remittance advices safely, as they establish the forex receipt if you later claim a refund of input tax credit.
Is a pure labour contract for building a house exempt from GST?
Two exemptions exist for pure labour contracts, meaning contracts where the contractor supplies only labour and the owner buys all materials. First, construction, erection or installation of original works pertaining to a single residential unit, otherwise than as part of a residential complex, is exempt. Second, pure labour services under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for beneficiary-led individual house construction are exempt. Outside these, labour contracts are taxable at 18 percent. A mason team building one independent house in Nanmangalam on labour-only terms therefore charges no GST, but the same team working on an apartment project must.
Which everyday goods now attract 5 percent GST?
The 5 percent slab now covers most household essentials that earlier fell in the 12 or 18 percent brackets: soaps, shampoos, toothpaste and toothbrushes, hair oil, bicycles, kitchen utensils and tableware. Packaged foods such as butter, ghee, cheese, namkeens, sauces, pasta, biscuits and chocolates are also at 5 percent, as are most medicines, medical devices and agricultural machinery. Apparel and footwear priced up to Rs.2,500 per piece attract 5 percent as well. Retailers in Nanmangalam should update billing software rate masters item by item rather than assuming old rates continue.
I am a composition dealer. Which returns apply to me and when?
Composition taxpayers do not file GSTR-1 or GSTR-3B. Instead, you pay tax every quarter through statement CMP-08, due by the 18th of the month following the quarter, and file one annual return, GSTR-4, by 30 June following the financial year. The scheme is available for turnover up to Rs.1.5 crore for goods, with a separate 6 percent scheme for service providers up to Rs.50 lakh. Missing CMP-08 for consecutive quarters can block your e-way bill facility. Our composition package covers all four CMP-08 filings and the annual GSTR-4 at Rs.9,999 per year.
How do I file Form PMT-09 to move money between heads in my cash ledger?
Log in and open Services, then Ledgers, then Electronic Cash Ledger, and select File GST PMT-09 for transfer of amount. The screen shows your balance under each major and minor head. Choose the transfer-from head and amount, choose the transfer-to head, add the details to the table, preview and file with DSC or EVC. The transfer reflects in the ledger immediately and an ARN is generated for your records. There is no limit on how often PMT-09 can be filed, and no government fee applies, so it is always the first fix for a wrong-head deposit.
What is the process for GST appeal APL-01?
The process runs in clear stages: Order study and strategy; Pre-deposit arrangement; Appeal drafting; APL-01 filing. A senior consultant reviews your file at each stage rather than passing it to a data-entry desk, and you receive a confirmation with the filed documents once it is complete. You always know which stage your work is at — we update you on WhatsApp instead of leaving you to follow up.
How long does GST appeal APL-01 take in Nanmangalam?
Appeal filed within 2-3 weeks of engagement; statutory limit 3 months. That assumes your documents are complete and there is no departmental query. We start the same day we receive your papers and tell you the realistic completion date upfront rather than an optimistic one. Where the GST portal or the officer causes delay — clarifications, physical verification or system issues — we track it daily and keep you informed on WhatsApp.
Is there a GST consultant near Nanmangalam for gst appeal filing?

We serve Nanmangalam and the surrounding areas from our office at Porur, Chennai - 600 116, Tamil Nadu, and most GST appeal work is completed online — you send documents on WhatsApp and we handle the portal work. If you prefer in-person help, we offer doorstep document pickup across Nanmangalam and you are welcome to visit our office. Reach us on +91 - 9600 606 444 between 9 AM and 8 PM, Monday to Saturday.
