Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for Thirumalai Nagar, Perungudi

Choosing GST Notice Reply in Perungudi is ultimately an act of trust: you are handing over sales figures, purchase records and portal access. Perungudi anchors the northern OMR IT corridor, with tech parks along Rajiv Gandhi Salai and Dr. MGR Salai at Kandanchavadi and a service ecosystem of caterers, facility managers and transport vendors. IT exporters need annual LUT renewal in RFD-11 and refunds of unutilised ITC on zero-rated supplies, while vendors billing SEZ units must document endorsed invoices correctly. We earn that trust the unglamorous way — fixed fees honoured, drafts approved by you before filing, acknowledgements shared the same day, and strict confidentiality throughout. Clients across Perungudi, Thoraipakkam and Taramani have stayed with us for years on precisely this basis.

GST jurisdiction for Perungudi (PIN 600096): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai South Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Perungudi before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for Logistics and Transport Operators in Perungudi
A goods transport agency issuing consignment notes normally operates under reverse charge, where the registered customer pays 5 percent and the transporter files returns with little cash outflow, but claiming input credit on trucks and tyres requires opting for forward charge by filing Annexure V before the financial year begins, a choice that then binds the whole year. Giving vehicles on hire to another GTA is exempt altogether. Transporters around Perungudi also carry e-way bill duties: updating Part B on vehicle changes and extending validity within the permitted window when trips overrun. A specialist evaluates the reverse-charge-versus-forward-charge economics and keeps the fleet paperwork inspection-ready.
The simplest way to complete GST Notice Reply in Perungudi is through a local GST practice: one call starts the process, documents move over WhatsApp, and fees begin at Rs.2,999.
Why Us

Why Thirumalai Nagar, Perungudi Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C Handled In-House

The annual return and, where turnover crosses Rs.5 crore, the self-certified reconciliation statement in GSTR-9C are prepared by the same team that filed your monthly returns. Nothing about your year has to be rediscovered or explained to a stranger in December.

QRMP Managed Properly, Not Just Opted Into

Quarterly filing still demands monthly attention — IFF uploads so your buyers see their credit on time, and tax payment through PMT-06 by the 25th for the first two months of each quarter. We run that monthly rhythm so QRMP saves you effort without creating gaps.

Notice-Proof Filing Discipline

Most GST notices trace back to mismatches between GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B. We reconcile these before filing, not after a notice arrives, so your returns are internally consistent and the most common triggers for ASMT-10 scrutiny simply never appear.

Multi-GSTIN and Branch Coordination

Businesses with registrations in more than one State, or multiple branches under one PAN, face cross-charge, stock transfer and input service distribution questions that single-GSTIN firms never see. We keep all your registrations consistent with each other, not just compliant individually.

Experience Across Trades and Sectors

Traders, manufacturers, contractors, e-commerce sellers, professionals and service exporters — we have handled GST for all of them. Whatever mix of goods and services your Perungudi business supplies, the rate, classification and place-of-supply questions have almost certainly crossed our desk before.

Support in Tamil and English

GST is confusing enough without a language barrier. Our team explains notices, tax positions and filing requirements in plain Tamil or English, whichever you and your staff in Perungudi are comfortable with, and keeps written communication simple and jargon-free.

How It Works

Our Notice Reply Process

Notice study

We read the notice line by line, identify the section invoked, the periods covered, the exact information sought and the deadline for response.

Data reconciliation

The figures alleged in the notice are reconciled against your filed returns, GSTR-2B and books, so the reply is grounded in verifiable numbers rather than assertions.

Reply drafting

We draft a professional, point-wise reply addressing every allegation, attaching reconciliations, invoices and legal support, and share the draft with you for approval.

Filing and payment

The approved reply is filed on the portal within the deadline. Where a small genuine liability exists, we advise payment through DRC-03 to limit interest and penalty.

Closure tracking

We monitor the portal for the officer's response, attend to any further queries or hearing dates, and pursue the matter until a closure or order is received.

Outcomes

What You Get

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

Waiver Benefits Never Missed

Late-fee waivers and amnesty windows notified by the GST Council are applied to your history within their deadlines, capturing reliefs that most businesses only hear about once the window has already closed.

Lower Total Cost of Compliance

A fixed professional fee is almost always cheaper than the combination of late fees, interest, lost credit and staff hours that informal, last-minute compliance quietly accumulates over a year.

Annual Returns Without the Year-End Scramble

Because monthly data is reconciled as it happens, GSTR-9 preparation before the 31 December due date becomes a review exercise rather than a painful reconstruction of twelve untidy months.

Books and Returns That Agree at Year End

Because turnover in your GST returns is kept aligned with your accounts through the year, income tax filing and statutory audit proceed without the GST-versus-books mismatch queries that now surface routinely through data matching.

Fewer Departmental Notices

Consistent, reconciled returns give the department's matching systems nothing to flag. Clients who move to us after years of self-filing typically see scrutiny queries and mismatch notices fall away within a few filing cycles.

Correct Tax the First Time

Rates, reverse charge, place of supply and blocked credits are applied correctly at the preparation stage, so you neither overpay tax you do not owe nor underpay and invite demands with penalty later.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Due-date trackingA maintained compliance calendar with internal cut-offs days before the 11th and the 20th; we chase you for data, not the other way around.Deadlines remembered from memory or phone alarms; one busy week and the return slips past the due date.
Portal credentials and dataLogins handled by a small engaged team under strict confidentiality, with credentials stored securely and never passed onward.Passwords circulating on chats with freelancers and part-timers, and no accountability for who has accessed your business data.
Annual return preparationMonthly reconciliations roll naturally into GSTR-9, filed comfortably before 31 December with figures already agreed through the year.Twelve months of unmatched data reconstructed in December, with differences discovered too late to be corrected cleanly.
Registration and amendmentsQuery-resistant applications prepared correctly the first time, with supporting documents matched to what proper officers actually verify.Repeated clarification memos and resubmissions, with weeks lost because a rent agreement or premises photograph did not meet expectations.
Keeping up with changesRate changes, portal updates and new thresholds such as the Rs.5 crore e-invoice limit are tracked by us and applied to your case proactively.Changes are discovered after the fact — often through a rejected filing, a blocked e-way bill or a departmental letter.
Input tax creditPurchase register matched against GSTR-2B each period, with defaulting suppliers chased so eligible credit is actually captured.Credit claimed from books alone; mismatches with GSTR-2B mean lost credit or excess claims that invite departmental queries.

AAR Ruling

Association maintenance taxed on the whole amount once the limit is crossed

TVH Lumbini Square Owners Association - AAR Tamil Nadu, Order No. 25/ARA/2019, dated 21 June 2019 · 2019-06-21

A residents welfare association collected monthly maintenance contributions from its members. The Authority held that where the contribution per member exceeds Rs. 7,500 a month, GST is payable on the entire contribution and not merely on the amount above Rs. 7,500. The Madras High Court subsequently held, in Greenwood Owners Association, that only the excess over Rs. 7,500 is taxable, and associations now follow that judicial position.

Why this matters: Chennai apartment associations should apply the High Court position carefully and keep member-wise workings ready for departmental scrutiny.

GST Council

Hotel room GST restructured on transaction value and outdoor catering cut to 5 per cent

37th GST Council Meeting, Goa — 20 September 2019 · 2019-09-20

The Council replaced the declared tariff basis for hotel accommodation with actual transaction value and reset the slabs with effect from 1 October 2019: nil where the value is up to Rs 1,000 per day, 12 per cent between Rs 1,001 and Rs 7,500, and 18 per cent above Rs 7,500. Outdoor catering, other than in premises having daily tariff above Rs 7,500, was reduced from 18 per cent with input tax credit to 5 per cent without credit. This substantially reduced tax on mid-segment hotels and on marriage and event catering.

What it means for you: Chennai hotels and outdoor caterers had to rebuild their rate logic around the actual amount charged, and caterers lost input credit in exchange for the lower five per cent rate.

Portal Advisory

Amnesty forms SPL-01 and SPL-02 enabled for interest and penalty waiver

GSTN Advisory, January 2025 — filing of waiver applications under Section 128A · 2025-01

GSTN enabled Forms SPL-01 and SPL-02 on the portal from the first week of January 2025 for the Section 128A waiver scheme, under which taxpayers with Section 73 demands for FY 2017-18 to 2019-20 could get interest and penalty waived by paying the tax in full by 31 March 2025. Advisories explained eligibility, the need to withdraw pending appeals first, and the application deadline of 30 June 2025, with a further June 2025 advisory addressing technical glitches faced while submitting applications.

How we apply it: If you settled 2017-20 demands under the amnesty, preserve the SPL filings and payment proofs; if you missed it, factor full interest into dispute strategy.

Free Tool

Already Holding the Notice? Read It in About a Minute

Upload the PDF to our free GST Notice Analyser. It identifies which of 34 notice types you have, pulls out the DIN, GSTIN and tax period, reads the reply date printed on the notice and tells you plainly whether that date has already passed — along with the documents and reconciliations you will need. No payment, no account. If the notice does not state a date we can read, it says so rather than guessing one for you.

Analyse my notice — free WhatsApp it to a consultant

The analyser reports what your notice says and the statutory position for that form. It is not a substitute for a consultant reading your actual records, and a reply should be reviewed before you file it.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

Do you provide GST notice reply for businesses on Thirumalai Nagar?
Yes. We serve businesses on and around Thirumalai Nagar in Perungudi — shops, offices, godowns and home-run businesses alike. Document pickup can be arranged at your premises, or you can send everything on WhatsApp and complete notice reply without leaving your counter. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 and mention your location; a consultant will confirm the fee and timeline immediately.
Is there a GST consultant near Perungudi for gst notice reply?
Yes. We serve Perungudi and the surrounding areas from our office at Porur, Chennai - 600 116, Tamil Nadu, and most notice reply work is completed online — you send documents on WhatsApp and we handle the portal work. If you prefer in-person help, we offer doorstep document pickup across Perungudi and you are welcome to visit our office. Reach us on +91 - 9600 606 444 between 9 AM and 8 PM, Monday to Saturday.
My GST registration was rejected in REG-05 after a clarification notice. Can I apply again?
Yes. A rejection order in Form REG-05 does not bar you from applying afresh. You can file a new registration application after curing the defects the officer pointed out, such as an incomplete rental agreement, mismatched address proof or missing authorisation letter. Alternatively, if you believe the rejection was wrong, you can challenge the order by filing an appeal in Form APL-01 within three months. For most small businesses a corrected fresh application is faster than an appeal. ChennaiGST reviews the rejection reasons first and then recommends the quicker route for your case.
How much does it cost to get a GST notice reply drafted in Perungudi?
Professional fees depend on the type of notice and the stakes involved. A simple clarification or return-default reply costs far less than a detailed defence to a show cause notice with multiple issues. At ChennaiGST, notice reply services start at Rs.2,999, which covers studying the notice, reconciling your data, drafting a reasoned reply with supporting annexures and filing it on the GST portal. Hearing representation is scoped separately where required. We serve businesses across Perungudi and nearby localities, and the first assessment of your notice is done before we quote. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 with a copy of the notice for a fixed quote.
Can a GST officer arrest a businessman, and what safeguards exist?
Yes, but only within defined limits. Under Section 69, the Commissioner must record reasons to believe that a person has committed one of the serious specified offences, chiefly fake invoicing and evasion beyond the prosecution thresholds, before authorising arrest. For cognizable, non-bailable cases, the person must be produced before a Magistrate within twenty-four hours; for bailable offences, the Deputy or Assistant Commissioner can grant bail. Departmental instructions require that arrest is not routine and must be justified by factors like flight risk or evidence tampering. If summons in a Perungudi investigation escalate toward arrest talk, engage counsel immediately; call +91 - 9600 606 444 for coordination.
What imprisonment terms does GST law prescribe, and which offences are non-bailable?
Section 132 links punishment to the amount involved: imprisonment up to five years with fine where the tax evaded or credit misused exceeds Rs.5 crore, up to three years where it exceeds Rs.2 crore, and up to one year for the Rs.1 crore to Rs.2 crore band, which after the Finance Act 2023 changes survives only for the offence of issuing invoices without supply. A repeat conviction can attract up to five years regardless of amount. Offences involving supply without invoice, invoices without supply, credit from such invoices, and collected-but-not-deposited tax are cognizable and non-bailable when the amount exceeds Rs.5 crore; everything else is non-cognizable and bailable. Courts take cognizance only with the Commissioner's previous sanction.
How do I check whether any GST notices have been issued to my business?
Log in to gst.gov.in and go to Services, then User Services, then View Notices and Orders for registration-related communications. Crucially, adjudication notices such as ASMT-10, DRC-01A and DRC-01 appear under a separate tab called View Additional Notices and Orders, which many taxpayers never open. Also verify that the email and mobile number on your registration are current, since the portal sends alerts there. We advise Perungudi businesses to check both tabs at least once a month, because a reply deadline starts running from the date of issue on the portal, not from when you happen to see it.
I received a GSTR-3A notice for not filing my GST returns. What should I do?
GSTR-3A is a system-generated default notice issued under Section 46 when you fail to file a return such as GSTR-3B. You must file the pending return within fifteen days of the notice, along with the tax due, interest at 18 percent per annum and late fee of Rs.50 per day (Rs.20 per day for nil returns, both capped with reference to turnover). Once the return is filed within this window, no further action follows. If you have stopped business, apply for cancellation instead of leaving returns pending, because notices will keep coming every month.
What is Form DRC-03 and when should I use it?
DRC-03 is the form for making a voluntary payment of tax, interest or penalty on the GST portal, either before a show cause notice is issued or within thirty days of receiving one. It is commonly used to pay liabilities found during a self-review, to respond to a DRC-01A intimation, to settle audit findings, or to pay dues flagged in scrutiny. Paying through DRC-03 under Section 73 before the notice, along with interest, means no penalty and no notice on that amount. Select the correct cause of payment and period in the form, because a wrongly mapped DRC-03 creates reconciliation trouble later.
What are the exact steps to file a DRC-03 voluntary payment on the GST portal?
Log in and go to Services, then User Services, then My Applications, choose Intimation of Voluntary Payment DRC-03 and click New Application. Select the cause of payment, such as voluntary, show cause notice, audit or annual return, pick the section and financial year, and enter the tax, interest and penalty amounts head-wise under IGST, CGST and SGST. A saved draft remains available for fifteen days. Offset the amounts from your ledgers, sign with DSC or EVC, and download the ARN acknowledgement. Our Perungudi office files DRC-03 the same day for clients; call +91 - 9600 606 444.
What is a GST health check and does my business really need one?
A GST health check is a preventive review of your compliance before the department finds the gaps. It typically covers reconciliation of GSTR-1 with GSTR-3B and books, ITC matching against GSTR-2B, blocked credit review under Section 17(5), reverse charge exposure, e-invoice and e-way bill compliance, rate and classification checks, and pending return or payment issues. The output is a report quantifying exposures and the corrective steps, such as amendments in coming returns or voluntary payment through DRC-03. With scrutiny and audits now driven by data analytics, businesses in Perungudi that self-review annually face far fewer notices than those that do not.
What are OIDAR services under GST and who pays the tax on them?
OIDAR means Online Information Database Access or Retrieval services, delivered over the internet, such as cloud services, e-books, streaming, online advertising and automated e-learning. When a foreign OIDAR provider supplies these to unregistered persons in India, the foreign provider itself must take a simplified registration in Form REG-10 and file monthly return GSTR-5A. From 1 October 2023, the definition was widened, so almost every unregistered Indian recipient is covered. When the Indian recipient is GST-registered, the tax instead falls on the recipient under reverse charge as an import of services.
Why are so many businesses suddenly receiving GST notices these days?
Enforcement has shifted from manual selection to data analytics. The portal now automatically compares GSTR-1 with GSTR-3B and flags tax shortfalls through DRC-01B intimations under Rule 88C, and compares GSTR-2B with GSTR-3B to flag excess ITC through DRC-01C under Rule 88D. E-way bill, e-invoice, TDS and income tax data are also cross-matched, and limitation deadlines for older financial years have pushed departments to clear pending demands in batches. The practical lesson for Perungudi businesses is that mismatches no longer go unnoticed, so month-wise reconciliation before filing is now essential hygiene rather than a year-end exercise.
My GST status shows suspended. What does that mean for my business in Perungudi?
Suspension is an intermediate state that occurs when you apply for cancellation, or when the officer initiates cancellation proceedings, commonly for return defaults or data mismatches. While suspended, you cannot make taxable supplies, meaning you should not issue tax invoices or charge GST, and e-way bill generation is blocked. The fix depends on the cause: if you triggered it by applying for cancellation, await the order; if the department triggered it, reply to the show cause notice in REG-18 within seven working days and clear pending returns. Acting within the notice window usually gets the suspension lifted; call +91 - 9600 606 444 if you have received one.
Do I have to issue an invoice for every small cash sale in my shop?
Not necessarily. Where the value of a supply is less than Rs.200, the buyer is unregistered, and the buyer does not ask for an invoice, you may skip issuing an individual tax invoice. Instead, you must prepare one consolidated tax invoice at the close of each day covering all such small sales. The moment a customer demands an invoice, or the sale is Rs.200 or more, a proper invoice is required. Retail counters typically issue system receipts to every customer anyway, which is cleaner practice, but the daily consolidated invoice is the legal minimum for petty sales.
My shop's landlord in Perungudi is not GST registered. Do I pay GST on the rent myself?
Yes, if you are registered. With effect from 10 October 2024, renting of any immovable property other than a residential dwelling by an unregistered person to a registered person was notified under reverse charge, so a registered tenant must pay 18 percent on the rent in cash through GSTR-3B and can claim ITC subject to the usual conditions. Composition taxpayers were subsequently excluded from this entry with effect from 16 January 2025. You must also raise a monthly self-invoice since the landlord is unregistered. Many shop and godown tenants in Perungudi remain unaware of this recent entry; call +91 - 9600 606 444 to regularise past months.
What GST rate applies to cars and two-wheelers now?
Small cars, meaning petrol cars up to 1200cc and diesel cars up to 1500cc with length not exceeding 4 metres, attract 18 percent GST, down sharply from the earlier 28 percent plus cess. Larger cars, SUVs above these specifications, attract the 40 percent rate, but with the compensation cess gone, the overall burden on most of them is still lower than before. Motorcycles up to 350cc are at 18 percent, while those above 350cc attract 40 percent. Electric vehicles continue at a concessional 5 percent. Dealers must also apply these rates to demo vehicle sales.
What are the common types of GST notices a business can receive?
The frequent ones are: REG-03 seeking clarification on a registration application; GSTR-3A for non-filing of returns; ASMT-10 pointing out discrepancies found on scrutiny of returns; DRC-01A intimating an ascertained tax liability before formal proceedings; DRC-01, the show cause notice under Section 73 or 74; ADT-01 intimating a departmental audit; REG-17 proposing cancellation of registration; RFD-08 proposing rejection of a refund claim; and summons under Section 70. Each has its own reply form and deadline, ranging from seven working days to thirty days, so identifying the notice type correctly is the first step in responding. When in doubt, call +91 - 9600 606 444.
What is the process for GST notice reply?
The process runs in clear stages: Notice study; Data reconciliation; Reply drafting; Filing and payment. A senior consultant reviews your file at each stage rather than passing it to a data-entry desk, and you receive a confirmation with the filed documents once it is complete. You always know which stage your work is at — we update you on WhatsApp instead of leaving you to follow up.
Are there any hidden charges for GST notice reply?
No. The fee quoted before we start is the fee you pay. Government fees, portal charges or statutory late fees, where they apply, are separate and disclosed to you in advance with the exact amount. We issue a proper GST invoice for our professional fee. If the scope of work changes — for example, an unexpected notice or additional periods — we tell you the revised fee before doing anything further.
How long does GST notice reply take in Perungudi?
Draft reply in 3-5 working days. That assumes your documents are complete and there is no departmental query. We start the same day we receive your papers and tell you the realistic completion date upfront rather than an optimistic one. Where the GST portal or the officer causes delay — clarifications, physical verification or system issues — we track it daily and keep you informed on WhatsApp.
