Trade Profile and GST Jurisdiction for Thiruverkadu

Finding dependable GST Appeal APL-01 in Thiruverkadu usually means choosing between a distant online portal and an overloaded local accountant. Thiruverkadu draws steady pilgrim crowds to the Devi Karumariamman temple, supporting flower and pooja shops on Sannathi Street, eateries, marriage halls and a fast-growing residential belt along Koladi Road and Thiruverkadu Main Road towards Velappanchavadi on Poonamallee High Road. Marriage hall owners charging 18 per cent GST on hall rent and caterers billing event food are the compliance profiles this town produces most. We offer a third option: a professional Chennai GST practice that treats Thiruverkadu, Avadi and Maduravoyal as home ground, responds the same working day, files ahead of deadlines, and stands behind its work if a notice ever arrives on a return we prepared.

GST jurisdiction for Thiruverkadu (PIN 600077): businesses here generally fall under the CGST Chennai Outer Commissionerate. We regularly represent clients from Thiruverkadu before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and notice hearings, and can confirm your exact division and range from your GSTIN. State-jurisdiction cases are handled with the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department.
GST for Restaurants and Cloud Kitchens in Thiruverkadu
Restaurant service is taxed at 5 percent without input tax credit, so GST paid on rent, kitchen equipment and packaging is a cost your menu pricing must absorb. Orders routed through Swiggy or Zomato fall under Section 9(5), where the platform itself pays the tax, yet you must still disclose those supplies separately in GSTR-1, keeping direct billing and aggregator billing distinct. A cloud kitchen running several brands from one Thiruverkadu address needs one registration with disciplined brand-wise invoicing, not separate GSTINs. A specialist splits the two order streams correctly every month and prevents double taxation of aggregator sales. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 to review your setup.
Yes, professional GST Appeal APL-01 is available in Thiruverkadu starting at Rs.9,999. The process is handled end to end — documents over WhatsApp, senior-reviewed preparation, portal filing and same-day acknowledgement sharing.
Why Us

Why Thiruverkadu Businesses Choose ChennaiGST

Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.

✓

Support in Tamil and English

GST is confusing enough without a language barrier. Our team explains notices, tax positions and filing requirements in plain Tamil or English, whichever you and your staff in Thiruverkadu are comfortable with, and keeps written communication simple and jargon-free.

✓

Waiver and Amnesty Windows Applied for You

Whenever the GST Council notifies a late-fee waiver or an amnesty window for pending returns or old demands, we check every client's history against it and act within the deadline. Relief that businesses in Thiruverkadu would otherwise read about after it lapsed reaches our clients in time.

✓

E-Invoice and E-Way Bill Fluency

E-invoicing is mandatory once turnover crosses Rs.5 crore and e-way bills apply to goods movements above Rs.50,000. We set up, train and troubleshoot both systems, so your despatches from Thiruverkadu are never held up by a compliance gap at the gate.

✓

Correct HSN Codes and Rates, Verified

GSTR-1 requires four-digit HSN reporting for turnover up to Rs.5 crore and six digits above it, and a wrong code often means a wrong rate. We verify the classification of what you actually supply, so your invoices and returns rest on defensible codes.

✓

Extra Hands During Filing Windows

In the days before the 11th and the 20th, our team runs extended hours and a strict internal queue, so a client who sends data late in the window is still filed on time. Peak-season crush at our end never becomes a late fee at yours.

✓

Notice Support Does Not Stop at Filing

If a query, ASMT-10 scrutiny notice or DRC-01 arrives on a return we filed, we stand behind our work and help you draft the reply. You are not left alone with a departmental letter and a thirty-day clock ticking against you.

How It Works

Our GST Appeal Process

Order study and strategy

We analyse the order for factual, computational and legal errors, confirm the three-month limitation position, and agree the grounds on which the appeal will proceed.

Pre-deposit arrangement

The disputed tax is quantified, the mandatory 10% pre-deposit is computed, and payment is made through the cash or credit ledger so recovery of the balance is stayed.

Appeal drafting

The statement of facts and grounds of appeal are drafted with supporting reconciliations and judicial precedents, and reviewed with you before filing.

APL-01 filing

The appeal is filed on the portal in Form APL-01 with annexures, and the final acknowledgement in APL-02 is obtained after submission of the certified order copy.

Hearing and outcome

We file written submissions, appear at the personal hearing, address the authority's questions, and follow the matter through to the appellate order in APL-04.

Outcomes

What You Get

Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.

★

Waiver Benefits Never Missed

Late-fee waivers and amnesty windows notified by the GST Council are applied to your history within their deadlines, capturing reliefs that most businesses only hear about once the window has already closed.

★

No More Late Fees

With returns filed ahead of the statutory due dates every period, the Rs.50-per-day GSTR-3B late fee simply stops appearing in your life, and the money stays in your business where it belongs.

★

Books and Returns That Agree at Year End

Because turnover in your GST returns is kept aligned with your accounts through the year, income tax filing and statutory audit proceed without the GST-versus-books mismatch queries that now surface routinely through data matching.

★

Bank and Tender Readiness

Loan applications and government tenders routinely demand GST returns and registration documents. With everything filed and archived properly, you can produce a complete compliance file within hours instead of days.

★

Reduced Dependence on One Employee

When GST knowledge lives inside a single staff member, their resignation becomes a compliance crisis. With our firm as the standing process, your filings continue uninterrupted regardless of internal staff changes.

★

Smooth Scheme Transitions

Whether moving between composition and regular scheme, opting into QRMP, or crossing the e-invoice threshold at Rs.5 crore, transitions are planned in advance rather than discovered after a compliance breach.

Why a Specialist Matters

With ChennaiGST vs Doing It Yourself

AspectWith ChennaiGSTDIY / Unattended
Time costRoughly an hour a month to send data and approve drafts; the portal work, reconciliation and follow-up are ours.Hours every month lost to portal errors, JSON files, OTP failures and reworking figures — usually on the due date itself.
Goods in transitE-way bills generated correctly and matched to invoices, so consignments pass roadside inspections without detention or penalty.A defective or missing e-way bill can mean detention at a checkpoint, with penalties that dwarf the tax on the consignment.
Late fees and interestFilings go in ahead of statutory dates, so the Rs.50-per-day late fee and 18 percent interest never arise.Late fees accumulate silently every delayed day, and interest on unpaid tax runs at 18 percent per annum.
Record keepingEvery return, challan, acknowledgement and working paper archived in an organised folder, retrievable in minutes years later.Documents scattered across email, downloads and old phones; assembling records for a bank or an audit takes days.
Supplier defaultsSuppliers who stop uploading invoices are identified within the period and pursued before their default becomes your blocked credit.Missing supplier invoices surface only when credit is denied, by which time recovering the amount from the vendor is difficult.
Due-date trackingA maintained compliance calendar with internal cut-offs days before the 11th and the 20th; we chase you for data, not the other way around.Deadlines remembered from memory or phone alarms; one busy week and the return slips past the due date.

Circular

Liquidated damages, notice pay and contractual penalties are generally outside GST

Circular No. 178/10/2022-GST · 2022-08-03

This is the leading circular on the agreeing to tolerate an act entry. The Board held that liquidated damages paid for breach of contract are a flow of money compensating for injury, not consideration for any service, so no GST applies. The same reasoning covers notice pay recovered from employees, cheque dishonour charges, fines and penalties for violation of a contract or a law, and forfeiture of salary or bond amounts, unless there is a genuine independent agreement to tolerate an act. A late payment surcharge or fee is treated differently, as it is naturally bundled with the principal supply and forms part of its value.

How we apply it: Chennai employers and contractors should resist departmental demands on notice pay recovery and liquidated damages by citing this circular in the reply itself.

Portal Advisory

CBIC answers on what counts as pre-packaged and labelled

CBIC Frequently Asked Questions on GST on pre-packaged and labelled goods, dated 17 July 2022 · 2022-07-17

A day before the change took effect, the Tax Research Unit issued FAQs explaining that the expression takes its meaning from the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and covers commodities intended for retail sale in packs of up to twenty-five kilograms or twenty-five litres that must bear statutory declarations. A single package above that limit is not covered, nor are packs supplied to an industrial or institutional consumer. Loose sale from a large pack by a retailer does not attract the levy.

What it means for you: A fifty-kilogram rice bag sold as one package stays outside the levy, but the moment it is repacked into labelled retail bags of twenty-five kilograms or less, five per cent applies.

Case Law

Transitional credit is a vested right; TRAN-1 timeline treated as directory

Siddharth Enterprises v. Nodal Officer — Gujarat High Court, judgment dated 6 September 2019, reported at 2019 (29) GSTL 664 (Guj.) · 2019-09-06

Taxpayers who missed the TRAN-1 deadline because of technical and procedural difficulties were denied transitional credit of pre-GST taxes. The High Court held that credit earned under the earlier laws is a vested right and property, and cannot be taken away merely by a procedural time limit in Rule 117. The time limit was read as directory rather than mandatory, and the department was directed to permit filing or revision of TRAN-1.

What to do about it: Procedural deadlines are read less strictly where a substantive right to credit is at stake — a principle still cited in credit disputes today.

Already Holding the Notice? Read It in About a Minute

Upload the PDF to our free GST Notice Analyser. It identifies which of 34 notice types you have, pulls out the DIN, GSTIN and tax period, reads the reply date printed on the notice and tells you plainly whether that date has already passed — along with the documents and reconciliations you will need. No payment, no account. If the notice does not state a date we can read, it says so rather than guessing one for you.

The analyser reports what your notice says and the statutory position for that form. It is not a substitute for a consultant reading your actual records, and a reply should be reviewed before you file it.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from practising GST consultants — based on the CGST Act, current CBIC notifications and day-to-day portal experience.

What documents are required for GST appeal APL-01 in Thiruverkadu?
For GST appeal APL-01 you will generally need: Certified or downloaded copy of the order appealed against, Copy of the show cause notice and your replies leading to the order, Demand details in DRC-07, where applicable, GST portal login credentials, Returns and reconciliations relevant to the disputed issue. The exact list depends on your constitution — proprietorship, partnership, LLP or company — and on the specifics of your case. Send what you have on WhatsApp to +91 - 9600 606 444 and we will confirm within the same working day exactly what else is needed, so nothing is rejected later for a missing paper.
How long does GST appeal APL-01 take in Thiruverkadu?
Appeal filed within 2-3 weeks of engagement; statutory limit 3 months. That assumes your documents are complete and there is no departmental query. We start the same day we receive your papers and tell you the realistic completion date upfront rather than an optimistic one. Where the GST portal or the officer causes delay — clarifications, physical verification or system issues — we track it daily and keep you informed on WhatsApp.
My three-month appeal deadline has passed. Can I still file a GST appeal?
You have a narrow lifeline. The appellate authority can condone a delay of up to one month beyond the three-month limit if you demonstrate sufficient cause, such as illness or circumstances genuinely beyond control, so file APL-01 immediately with a detailed condonation application and evidence. Beyond three months plus one month, the appellate authority has no statutory power to admit the appeal, and your remaining options shrink to a writ petition before the Madras High Court in fit cases, or any amnesty scheme the government may notify. Do not add even a day's further delay; call +91 - 9600 606 444 today for an urgent filing.
What happens after I file Form APL-01 on the GST portal?
The portal issues a provisional acknowledgment immediately, and the appeal is formally admitted when the final acknowledgment in APL-02 is issued after document verification. The appellate authority then fixes personal hearings, where your authorised representative argues the grounds and files written submissions and case law. Up to three adjournments may be granted per side. The authority must pass a speaking order, which it should endeavour to issue within one year of filing, and the outcome is communicated in a summary along with the order. The authority can confirm, modify or annul the order but cannot send the case back to the original officer.
I discovered an old ASMT-13 order only after the return-filing window closed. What can I do now?
Once the sixty-day window and the further sixty-day extended window under Section 62 have both lapsed, filing the return no longer withdraws the order, and the estimated demand in the liability register becomes recoverable. Your remedy shifts to an appeal in Form APL-01 within three months of the order's communication, with the prescribed pre-deposit, arguing the actual figures from your books against the officer's estimate. Appellate authorities regularly scale down best judgment estimates when the genuine return data is placed on record. Check the Additional Notices tab for any other unnoticed orders at the same time; Thiruverkadu non-filers often find several. Call +91 - 9600 606 444 urgently.
If I lose the first appeal, what does it cost to go to the GST Appellate Tribunal?
An appeal to the GST Appellate Tribunal requires payment of the admitted dues in full plus an additional pre-deposit of 10 percent of the disputed tax, over and above the 10 percent already paid at the first appeal stage. Following the Finance (No. 2) Act 2024 amendments effective 1 November 2024, this additional deposit was reduced from the earlier 20 percent, and is capped at Rs.20 crore each under CGST and SGST. On payment, recovery of the balance demand stays until the Tribunal decides. With the Tribunal benches now being operationalised, orders in limbo for years can finally be tested; keep certified copies of every order ready.
My GST registration was cancelled. Should I file an appeal or a revocation application?
If the cancellation was initiated by the department, for example for non-filing, the primary remedy is a revocation application in Form REG-21 within ninety days of the cancellation order, after filing all pending returns and clearing tax, interest and late fees. Revocation is quicker and handled by the same jurisdictional officer. An appeal in APL-01 within three months is the route when revocation is rejected, when the ninety-day window is lost, or when you dispute the very grounds of cancellation. Choosing the wrong track wastes precious weeks while your Thiruverkadu business cannot issue tax invoices, so decide with advice on day one.
What does it cost to file a GST appeal in Thiruverkadu?
Apart from the statutory pre-deposit of 10 percent of the disputed tax, which is your own money adjusted against the demand, the professional fee depends on the order's complexity, the number of issues and hearing effort involved. At ChennaiGST, appeal engagements start at Rs.9,999 and cover studying the order, drafting the grounds of appeal and statement of facts, computing and paying the pre-deposit, filing APL-01 with annexures, and representation at hearings before the appellate authority in Chennai. We take up appeals for businesses across Thiruverkadu and give a written scope before starting. Share your order on +91 - 9600 606 444 for a quote.
How long does GST revocation take after filing REG-21?
Once REG-21 is filed with all returns regularised, the officer examines the application and, if satisfied, passes a revocation order in Form REG-22 within thirty days of the application. If the officer has doubts, a notice in Form REG-23 is issued; you reply in Form REG-24 within seven working days, and the officer then decides within thirty days of your reply. In practice, clean applications where every pending return is filed and dues are paid before submission move fastest. After revocation, file any returns for the period between cancellation and revocation as required to bring the GSTIN fully current.
How do I reply to a DRC-01 show cause notice online?
The reply to a show cause notice summarised in DRC-01 is filed in Form DRC-06 on the GST portal. Log in, open View Additional Notices and Orders, select the case and use the reply option to upload your written submissions and supporting documents, and opt for a personal hearing. A good DRC-06 addresses each allegation separately, annexes reconciliations, invoices and ledgers, cites the relevant provisions and circulars, and raises limitation and jurisdiction objections where available. File within the time allowed in the notice. ChennaiGST drafts DRC-06 replies for Thiruverkadu businesses with a hearing strategy built in from the start.
What documents do GST audit officers usually ask for?
Expect to produce the GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-9 filings for the audit years, audited financial statements, trial balance, sales and purchase registers, ITC ledgers with supplier-wise detail, fixed asset register, e-way bill data, bank statements, key customer and vendor agreements, stock records and reconciliations between books and returns. Officers in Tamil Nadu commonly probe ITC on blocked credits under Section 17(5), reverse charge compliance, classification and rate issues, and turnover differences with income tax filings. Preparing a reconciliation file before submission lets you spot and voluntarily correct issues through DRC-03, which is far cheaper than an audit objection. ChennaiGST builds this file for Thiruverkadu clients.
My customer says he cannot claim ITC because of my late filing. Is that correct?
Yes, he is right. A buyer can claim input tax credit only for invoices appearing in his GSTR-2B, which is generated from suppliers' GSTR-1 and IFF filings. If you file GSTR-1 after the 11th, your invoices miss that month's GSTR-2B and your customer's credit gets pushed to the next month, straining his working capital. Repeated delays lead buyers to withhold the GST portion of payments or move to more compliant vendors. Timely GSTR-1 filing is therefore a commercial necessity, not just a legal one. ChennaiGST ensures clients in Thiruverkadu never face this complaint.
My footwear shop sells chappals at Rs.300 and shoes at Rs.4,000 on the same bill. How do I invoice this?
One invoice can comfortably carry both rates. Each pair is tested against the Rs.2,500 sale-value threshold independently, so the chappals are billed at 5% and the Rs.4,000 shoes at 18%, as separate line items under their footwear HSN codes in Chapter 64. Your GSTR-1 HSN summary will then show turnover split across the two rates. Ensure the billing software picks the rate from the item price automatically rather than from a fixed product master, because the same article sold at different price points can legitimately fall in different slabs. A quick POS configuration check prevents months of wrong-rate billing; call +91 - 9600 606 444 to arrange one.
Our company paid fees to a lawyer. Who pays the GST on this?
You do, as the recipient. Legal services supplied by an individual advocate, a firm of advocates or a senior advocate to a business entity are notified under Section 9(3), so the advocate does not charge GST and your business pays 18 percent under reverse charge in cash through GSTR-3B, claiming it back as ITC if otherwise eligible. Relief exists for small recipients: legal services to a business entity whose turnover is within the registration threshold are exempt. Since the advocate is usually unregistered, remember to raise a self-invoice and payment voucher for the transaction. Litigation-heavy businesses in Thiruverkadu should reconcile their legal expense ledger against RCM paid every quarter.
What is the GST rate for restaurants and food delivery now?
Standalone restaurants, eateries and cloud kitchens charge 5 percent GST without input tax credit. Restaurants located in hotels where the room tariff exceeds Rs.7,500 per day fall in the specified premises category and charge 18 percent with input tax credit. Food ordered through e-commerce operators such as Swiggy and Zomato is taxed at 5 percent, with the platform liable to pay the tax on restaurant services supplied through it. A restaurant in Thiruverkadu paying 5 percent must remember that GST on its rent, gas and equipment purchases becomes a cost, since credit is barred.
How is interest calculated on a GST demand or late payment?
Interest runs at 18 percent per annum under Section 50 on tax paid after the due date, computed day-wise from the day following the due date until payment. Following amendments, interest on delayed GSTR-3B liability applies on the portion paid through the electronic cash ledger, and interest on wrongly availed ITC arises where the credit has been both availed and utilised. Interest is payable even where no penalty applies, and it cannot be waived by the officer. Because interest compounds silently over long disputes, paying the admitted tax early through DRC-03, even while contesting the rest, often saves a substantial amount.
How do I round off tax amounts on a GST invoice?
Section 170 of the CGST Act prescribes normal rounding to the nearest rupee: where the tax contains a part of a rupee, fifty paise or more is rounded up to one rupee, and less than fifty paise is ignored. The rounding is applied to the tax amount on each invoice, separately for each tax head, so CGST and SGST are each rounded individually rather than rounding only the invoice total. Most billing software handles this automatically, but spreadsheets and manual bills often round the grand total instead, creating one-rupee mismatches that clutter reconciliations across thousands of invoices.
We sponsored a trade event. Does reverse charge apply to the sponsorship amount?
If your business is a body corporate or partnership firm, sponsorship services received are notified under Section 9(3) and you must pay 18 percent GST under reverse charge, with ITC available since sponsorship is a marketing expense. One recent change matters: with effect from 16 January 2025, sponsorship services provided by a body corporate were moved to forward charge, so if the event organiser billing you is a company, it now charges GST on its invoice and RCM does not apply. Where the provider is a proprietor, trust or society, RCM continues. Verify the organiser's constitution before booking the entry, and raise a self-invoice where the provider is unregistered.
How much does GST appeal APL-01 cost in Thiruverkadu?
Our fee for GST appeal APL-01 in Thiruverkadu starts at Rs.9,999 and is quoted in full before we begin — there are no hidden charges added later. The fee covers professional work end to end: document review, preparation, filing and follow-up until completion. Government fees or portal charges, where applicable, are separate and always shown to you upfront. For an exact quote based on your turnover and business type, call +91 - 9600 606 444 and a consultant will confirm it on the call.
Are there any hidden charges for GST appeal APL-01?
No. The fee quoted before we start is the fee you pay. Government fees, portal charges or statutory late fees, where they apply, are separate and disclosed to you in advance with the exact amount. We issue a proper GST invoice for our professional fee. If the scope of work changes — for example, an unexpected notice or additional periods — we tell you the revised fee before doing anything further.
Which GST office handles Thiruverkadu businesses?
Businesses in Thiruverkadu (PIN 600077) generally fall under the CGST Chennai Outer Commissionerate, with state-jurisdiction cases handled by the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department. Your exact division and range can be confirmed from your GSTIN on the GST portal. We regularly appear before this jurisdiction for registrations, clarifications and hearings, so we know the local practice and documentation preferences.
