Every locality in Chennai has its own commercial rhythm, and Madhavaram is no exception. Madhavaram combines the CMDA truck terminal on Grand Northern Trunk Road, the historic Milk Colony dairy belt and rows of godowns and timber depots along Madhavaram High Road and the Inner Ring Road. Transporters and warehouse operators here deal constantly with reverse charge on freight and must register every godown as an additional place of business, which many miss until a notice arrives. Our practice has shaped its GSTR-9 Annual Return work around exactly these realities, serving clients in Madhavaram as well as Kolathur and Manali. Registrations, returns, refunds and notice replies are handled by one accountable team, with fees fixed in writing before work begins and every filing reconciled against portal data before it is submitted.
Not a bulk-filing portal. A senior consultant knows your file, your jurisdiction and your deadlines.
We match your purchase register against GSTR-2B every period, follow up on invoices your suppliers have not uploaded, and ensure every rupee of eligible input tax credit is claimed. Clients routinely recover credit they were silently losing under self-filing.
We work with Chennai GST ranges and circles every week, including the jurisdiction covering Madhavaram. We know how local proper officers examine registrations, what supporting documents they routinely call for, and how to present a file so it moves without repeated queries.
A new GSTIN comes with obligations nobody explains at approval — the invoice series rules, displaying the registration certificate and GSTIN at your premises, and the first return cycle. We walk new registrants in Madhavaram through each of these so month one starts correctly.
Your sales figures, supplier lists and login credentials are handled only by our engaged team, stored securely and never shared with any third party. Many of our clients in Madhavaram compete with each other; complete confidentiality is a condition of our work.
Your work is executed by trained GST staff working under direct senior supervision, not passed to interns learning on your file. The person preparing your return understands reverse charge, blocked credits and place of supply, because getting these wrong costs you money.
We are a Chennai firm with a physical office, not a faceless portal. If you prefer to sit across a table with your papers, you are welcome. Clients from Madhavaram regularly visit us for registrations, notice discussions and annual return reviews.
We gather all twelve months of filed returns, GSTR-2B data, your annual books and the ITC register, and build a single year-wise working file.
Outward supplies per books are matched with GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, and every difference from credit notes, amendments or timing is documented with reasons.
Credit claimed in GSTR-3B is reconciled with GSTR-2B and books, then bifurcated into inputs, input services and capital goods as GSTR-9 tables require.
We share the draft GSTR-9 with a note on any shortfall. If tax is payable, we compute 18% interest and prepare DRC-03 for payment.
After your sign-off we file GSTR-9 before 31 December, file any DRC-03, and hand over the acknowledgement with complete reconciliation working papers.
Send these on WhatsApp (+91 - 9600 606 444) and we take it forward the same day.
Timeline: 5-7 working days; statutory due date 31 December · No hidden charges · GST invoice provided
Practical outcomes our clients measure us by.
A fixed professional fee is almost always cheaper than the combination of late fees, interest, lost credit and staff hours that informal, last-minute compliance quietly accumulates over a year.
Each period you receive a simple computation showing output tax, credit utilised and net cash payable, so GST becomes a number you understand and question rather than a figure you accept blindly.
Late-fee waivers and amnesty windows notified by the GST Council are applied to your history within their deadlines, capturing reliefs that most businesses only hear about once the window has already closed.
Your scheme choice — regular, composition or QRMP — is re-examined as turnover and margins change, so you are always paying under the structure that legitimately costs your business the least.
Continuous filing protects you from the suspension and cancellation proceedings that hit chronic non-filers, so your registration, e-way bill access and ability to issue tax invoices are never suddenly cut off.
Advances received for services attract GST on receipt while advances for goods generally do not; applying this distinction correctly means you neither prepay tax unnecessarily nor omit a liability that surfaces later with interest.
| Aspect | With ChennaiGST | DIY / Unattended |
|---|---|---|
| Registration and amendments | Query-resistant applications prepared correctly the first time, with supporting documents matched to what proper officers actually verify. | Repeated clarification memos and resubmissions, with weeks lost because a rent agreement or premises photograph did not meet expectations. |
| Portal credentials and data | Logins handled by a small engaged team under strict confidentiality, with credentials stored securely and never passed onward. | Passwords circulating on chats with freelancers and part-timers, and no accountability for who has accessed your business data. |
| Record keeping | Every return, challan, acknowledgement and working paper archived in an organised folder, retrievable in minutes years later. | Documents scattered across email, downloads and old phones; assembling records for a bank or an audit takes days. |
| Time cost | Roughly an hour a month to send data and approve drafts; the portal work, reconciliation and follow-up are ours. | Hours every month lost to portal errors, JSON files, OTP failures and reworking figures — usually on the due date itself. |
| Risk of notices | GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B reconciled before filing, removing the mismatches that trigger most scrutiny notices. | Inconsistent figures across returns quietly build a mismatch history that surfaces later as ASMT-10 scrutiny or a demand notice. |
| Annual return preparation | Monthly reconciliations roll naturally into GSTR-9, filed comfortably before 31 December with figures already agreed through the year. | Twelve months of unmatched data reconstructed in December, with differences discovered too late to be corrected cleanly. |

GSTN Advisory dated 9 December 2024 — GSTR-9/9C for FY 2023-24 · 2024-12-09
For FY 2023-24 onwards, Table 8A of the annual return GSTR-9 is auto-populated from GSTR-2B instead of GSTR-2A, following Notification No. 12/2024 and 20/2024-Central Tax. GSTN's advisory explains scenario-wise how invoices of one year appearing in the next year's GSTR-2B should be reported, why differences between Table 8A and manually entered Table 8C can legitimately arise, and how to reconcile ITC across Tables 8, 12 and 13.
What to do about it: Prepare a GSTR-2B based ITC reconciliation before filing GSTR-9, and document genuine 8A versus 8C timing differences to answer later scrutiny.
Notification No. 7/2022-Central Tax (Rate), dated 13 July 2022 · 2022-07-13
This companion notification amended the exemption list so that the nil rate on cereals, pulses, flour and similar staples applies only where the goods are other than pre-packaged and labelled. Loose sale from an open sack or gunny bag remains exempt; the same commodity in a sealed retail pack bearing statutory declarations becomes taxable at five per cent. Both notifications came into force on 18 July 2022 and reshaped billing for every kirana and provision supplier.
How we apply it: The same bag of rice is nil-rated if sold loose and taxable at five per cent if sold in a labelled retail pack, so packing practice now decides the tax.
M. Trade Links v. Union of India — Kerala High Court, judgment dated 5 July 2024, reported at 2024 KLT OnLine 1624 · 2024-07-05
A large batch of petitions challenged the constitutional validity of Section 16(4), which bars input tax credit claimed after the prescribed deadline, and of Section 16(2)(c). The High Court upheld both provisions, holding that input tax credit is a statutory concession subject to conditions and time limits fixed by the legislature. Limited relief was given for the initial years of GST having regard to the transitional difficulties and the subsequent amendments extending the deadline.
How we apply it: Do not rely on litigation to rescue late credit claims — reconcile and claim within the statutory deadline for each financial year.
